I am retired and was looking for a new avenue to travel and found it with DUR. I became a Foster Mom after a special person talked me into it and I love this new goal in life. It is very fulfilling and I can't say enough about the organization and it's founder. I would recommend any retired person who is looking for something to do to join and be a foster or a volunteer. In fact after joining I became a foster failure and fell in love with one of my fosters. She is now my forever little one. Thank you DUR!
An awesome group of people who deserve a big pat on the back for fostering and finding our pets homes. For giving all that they can. I have an adopted beagle named Jake, who is crazy, but, I love him so much, from DUR. It is a wonderful nonprofit.
I cannot even begin to describe what an amazing organization DUR is. I got Ollie about 9 months ago and the process was very efficient and quick. While trying to adopt a dog last summer I filled out multiple applications for other rescues and never heard back. With DUR I heard back within a day or so and my references were also checked quickly. They were willing to hold into him for a couple weeks to make his transition into my house easier on both of us. Everything they described about his personality was spot on too. I love that they have different opportunities in the community for Ollie to go back and see his fosters and tell them how well he's doing. I've also helped out at a couple events and everyone is just wonderful!
My boys and I adopted our Gracie from Dogs Unlimited Rescue. What a great organization, doing really great work! The process was easy, they kept us informed and they took great care of our girl until she came to us as her forever home. If you're looking to rescue a dog in need, this is the place to go!
First off I want to say how amazing this organization is and that it is truely made up of the kindest people I have ever met! I started off fostering to beagles that went to wonderful homes, immediatly I got another that was in and out. Then I got my fourth foster beagle Monty who was a special case. He came in with 6-7 other beagle and another resuce took them all but Monty and said hes not worth saving, but Dogs Unlimited stepped in for him. Monty was a foster for nearly 2 yrs before getting adopted out on a trial basis. During this trial Monty got away and DUR did everything to help me find this foster baby. He ran and ran for nearly a week but our volunteers never gave up and we got him. At that point Gina and I discussed Montys home was with me and the resuce has still helped me with him and My other 2 beagles Greeley and Crash as I finish up nursing school. The resuce has went above and beyond for me and my dogs making sure they had what they needed even though they didnt have too, between my husbands job loss and me going back to school. Im proud to be a part of DUR and very glad to have met some of the wondrful people that contribute to the rescue. Im greatful that Monty became apart of my life and left a little paw print on my heart thanks to DUR.
Working with Dogs Unlimited to adopt our rescued MinPin Bailey, was a great experience. He was abused prior to being rescued, and had to have an eye evaluated and later removed. Marcy (foster mom) made sure Bailey was back up to acceptable health before she would adopt him out to us. We received him with all of his shots being up to date & supporting documentation, his medical history, and was in very good health (minus an eye). If we were not happy with Bailey, we were told that we could return him and receive a refund if we wanted. There was no need for a refund because we still have Bailey, and he is living at his forever home, fitting in very well with 2 other dogs and 4 cats. I felt the adoption price was very reasonable, considering all of the medical attention, neutering, and shots that he received, plus keep in mind the amount of time is spent by the foster parent caring for the dogs, as well as daily supplies such as food while he is in the foster home. I would highly recommend Dogs Unlimited to anyone who is looking to adopt a dog.
We fostered a dog with DUR this year. It was an amazing organization to work with. They all truly care about the animals and finding the perfect home. Wish we could still foster with them but we adopted our foster dog and now have a full house :)
A friend had gotten a dog thru Dogs Unlimited and then her mother got a wonderful dog and I finally caved and ended up with the sweetest pup ever. They are very careful about getting the right animal for the right home. They are also very good about giving you as much information as possible, such as whether the animal gets along with children and/or animals. I highly recommend this organization to anyone searching for a good healthy match for their family.
When we decided to add a second dog to our household, I really wanted to use a rescue group. Dogs Unlimited (and especially Kim) were so great to work with. As soon as we met Leon (nka Sherlock), I knew he was perfect for our family. Kim gave me all the info I needed for every step of the adoption process and even gave me her personal cell number to ask as many questions as I could come up with. I would recommend this organization to anyone who is looking for a dog. As soon as we are ready for another in the future, I will be contacting them first.
I found DUR online when I was looking to adopt. From the start they were amazing and they took the time to walk me through the process. The foster mom was in touch with me within two day (less)!!! The communication was excellent and she provided me with all the information I needed about adopting the dog I was so interested in and was able to provide me with tips as well. When I drove to meet them they welcomed me with open arms and were professional as well as friendly. I suggested them to a friend of mine where they took the same steps for her. I would recommend them to anyone!!! I am so happy that I found then. They keep in touch even after the adoption and I am ever so eager to update them as well!! You can tell they love and care for the dogs that they rescue. I LOVE Dogs Unlimited Rescue!!!!
I learned about Dogs Unlimited Rescue after watching a local news story about 2 abandoned dogs left at a vacant house to die in 2011. Beemer was found in the attic tied up and Will was chained up outside. Both dogs were starving and in horrible condition. DUR rescued these animals. I made a donation to help their cause and received a thoughtful thank you card with Beemer's picture. I began following the rescue on their website & Facebook and learned about the quality of life, love and second chances they provide dogs in finding their furever homes. A few months later, I began an adoption process with one of the dogs I fell in love with on their website. I liked their process; I could tell they truly were concerned about the care and kind of home these dogs go to - they want the right fit. I also like the Vet they chose to initially care for the dogs - I used to take my own animals to him many yrs. ago and he's excellent. After an application with references and 2 home visits, I adopted Sampson. One of the best decisions I've ever made. A few months ago, I became a volunteer. While I haven't fostered any dogs yet, I've met some of the other fosters and everyone is great. I volunteered at a Pet People function and passed out flyers for a lost dog. I highly recommend this credible organization as all of the proceeds go towards the dogs - it's well managed and they truly care about the welfare of the animals!
I became involved with Dogs Unlimited Rescue after my friend sent me a link to one of the dogs they had available. I proceeded to chew her out for doing so while simultaneously filling out an application to adopt my Bailey. After experiencing how thorough they were in placing their rescue animals in the rights homes, and how passionate they were about saving these animals, I was inspired to become a part of it. I have volunteered with other rescues, but absolutely none of them have conducted themselves with the amount of integrity that I've experienced with Dogs Unlimited Rescue. DUR prides itself on taking in animals that are out of options, animals with severe medical issues that other rescues can not, or will not take on. The volunteers are awe-inspiring and the Founder and Executive Director is absolutely the best advocate for these animals. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them all. I consider it a privilege to volunteer with them and I am forever in their debt for giving me my sweet Bailey, and my foster turned adoptee Hunter. They both make me smile ever day, and I owe that to Dogs Unlimited.
We first became familiar with Dogs Unlimited Rescue after the famous Beemer rescue/rehabilitation. After doing a bit of research, my husband and I felt compelled to become involved. We began fostering/volunteering in 2012 and have never looked back! This rescue will never shy away from a challenging case. Sadly, that isn't the mentality of all rescues, but it is most certainly the backbone of D.U.R!
We first became involved with Dogs Unlimited Rescue when we saw a small abandoned Boxer that needed a Foster home. Not only were we quick to foster, we never wanted him to have another cold night out on the streets so he bacame our four legged adopted son. Since then we have continued to Foster other dogs and the joy of finding them a good home makes it all worth the effort. The people we have met in this organization are all extremely dedicated and caring individuals that all put the animals before anything. We will continue to work with DUR and help these animals live good, happy lives.
I was not aware of Dogs Unlimited until I was looking for a senior dog with special needs to adopt. Fortunately for me, I found the perfect dog and the perfect organization. I could tell that everyone I encountered cared so deeply for my dog. Even just prior to the finalization of the adoption, I inquired about if he was microchipped just so I knew what to schedule once I got him... Immediately, the response was that DUR would be happy to have him chipped prior to coming to me. They are a first class organization and it's obvious how much they love the dogs that they save!
We adopted our wonderful dog Bauer from them almost 4 years ago. They are a great organization whom I still support. I bring Bauer back to visit a few times a year to visit with everyone that helped this poor puppy that was left in a box with her siblings prior to DUR stepping in. Bauer owes her life to them. I love my pup so much, and I love how DUR appreciates my updates and truly keeps up with their dogs even after they have found their forever home. They are truly a great organization and a great group of people.
Dogs Unlimited Rescue has the most dedicated, loving, and compassionate people as volunteers. I am proud to be part of this organization and always highly recommend it to potential adopters and volunteers.
I first learned of Dogs Unlimited Rescue when I saw the most beautiful beagle/basset mix available for adoption. He had been in a shelter in West Virginia for over one-and-a-half years! He became mine! And two years later he is still the most wonderful little guy! I then became a Volunteer/Foster Mom. It was new to me, never being in rescue before, but it is the most wonderful and rewarding experience! DUR is the greatest organization out there! They spare no expense in helping the animals in need. Gina Lutes is one of the most loving, giving people I've ever met! Not just with the animals, but with her volunteers too! She takes great care of everyone involved!
When I started volunteering for DUR, I was very new to dog rescues. I had only worked with one other rescue and that time was very limited. Dogs Unlimited Rescue has stolen my heart. They take any dog no matter the situation and give him/her the best life possible. The director, leaders, and volunteers of this rescue care for every single one of those dogs. Each dog receives the specialized treatment and care they need and deserve. DUR really is unlimited in their gifts, time, and talents! This is a very special organization!
