Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: Dogs Unlimited Rescue, Inc. is an all volunteer non-profit organization that is dedicated to educating the public and saving abused and neglected animals from an uncertain fate. Our organization rescues animals from high kill shelters, hoarding situations, abuse or neglect cases, owner surrenders, and the breeding parents in Ohio puppy mills that would otherwise be inhumanely disposed of. We improve their lives by providing quality care and placement into permanent loving homes. We will continue to educate, rescue, rehabilitate and encourage the adoption of pets from shelters and rescue groups. We do not maintain a physical shelter. All our rescues are in loving foster care. We differentiate ourselves by providing animals in our rescue with ONLY quality care and even though it may be costly, these animals deserve nothing less and that is why donations are so vitally important. Our vetting is very costly along the with other related expenses (rehabilitation, training, etc.) of the animals in our rescue.

Results: Since inception, we have saved, medically and emotionally treated, and homed over 500 dogs and cats (mostly dogs).

Target demographics: injured, abandoned, homeless animals

Direct beneficiaries per year: 200 dogs and cats find furever homes

Geographic areas served: NorthEast Ohio

Programs: fostering, rehabilitation, medical attention, and lots and lots of love and nurturing until the dogs and cats are healthy and happy in furever homes!

We heard about Dogs Unlimited Rescue through PetFinder. We looked at so many dogs for weeks. (We wanted them all)!

Finally, we clicked on "Lucky's" page and we knew he was already part of our family. His pictures showed how loving, handsome and proud he was. When we talked to Mary Lou Bender, Lucky's rescuer, and heard his story, we couldn't wait to meet him!

Lucky met our other rescue Baxter (pug), and the bonded immediately! I felt Lucky felt right at home as he walked around our house, played in the backyard, and found "his" spot on the couch! We love Lucky, aka, Lucky Ducky Doo. He and Baxter are best friends and enjoy their couch time and walks together! Lucky keeps adjusting more every day and I think he now knows this is his forever home and we are his forever humans!

Mary Lou and Dogs Unlimited guided us through the whole process, had all of Lucky's medical records in order, and followed up with us regularly after Lucky came home, to make sure not only Lucky was happy but Katy, myself and Baxter were all happy with Lucky too!

We will always rescue and own through Dogs Unlimited Rescue! We highly recommend them to all current and new dog owners!

Greg K. & Katy B, and Mr. Baxter too!

DUR is an amazing organization. I know first hand after going through the adoption process. These folks are true animal lovers and everything they do is with the best interest of the dogs in mind. They fund raise to provide life saving care to dogs who would otherwise suffer. My own pup was the beneficiary of cardiac surgery, funded from the generosity of people who believe in DUR. Two years after that surgery, he is in great shape. He is the happiest dog I've ever met and loves to run. Without DUR's commitment, fantastic fundraising, fostering, and coordination of care, his heart condition would have been fatal. I have remained in communication with these great folks and enjoy watching them rally around the dogs who are lucky enough to find their way to DUR. Not only are the dogs well cared for, DUR does a wonderful job of finding the right environment for these dogs, many of whom have suffered trauma we will never know. I also appreciated that this organization is run in a professional manner, with business savvy. There are many dog rescue groups that mean well but don't have the business know-how to operate. DUR is run with compassion for the dogs and business sophistication. (I don't mean to leave out the occasional cat or pig that finds its way to DUR--they are in great hands too!)

I adopted a dog from this wonderful group. His story is remarkable. He was surrendered by his owner after she was in a life threatening accident. At his first checkup, the vet discovered a heart defect that would cost thousands of dollars to correct. With no notice, this group mobilized, collected enough for his surgery, and saved his life. They were thoughtful in finding him a home after the surgery, taking into account the many intangibles that make the difference between a great fit and a problem. His foster family was incredible. I've never seen such an amazing and dedicated group of people.

The care and the concern of this organization is extraordinary. There are no conditions too dire or distance too far that would stop this group of volunteers from rescuing these dogs, or any animal, from dangerous or uncertain circumstances. And very importantly, they are very good stewards of every dollar. Everyone is a volunteer and everyone is committed to Dogs Unlimited Rescue.

I am excited to be able to tell you about Dogs Unlimited Rescue! I have watched so many heartwarming rescue stories about animals that were brought back from a life of abuse and suffering to healthy and happy lives, made possible by the angels at Dogs Unlimited Rescue. I want to share pictures and a story about Oliver. Oliver was surrendered by his owner at 5 months old with both of his front legs severely fractured with little explanation. Dogs Unlimited took Oliver into the rescue where he went through several surgeries in attempt to fix his fractured legs. His left leg was unable to be repaired and the repairs on the right leg only lasted for a few years. Although this sweet little guy has suffered from what he went through as a puppy, he is now a happy 5 year old. Oliver has no use of his front legs, but with the love and support of dogs Unlimited he has a wheel chair to get around and is living a happy life. This only one heart warming success stories that Dogs Unlimited Rescue is responsible for. "Thank you, Gina and all who put their hearts and time into helping make Dogs Unlimited Rescue a safe place for babies like Oliver."

When I am in need of a dog, I will definitely go to Dogs Unlimited Rescue.

I have been a volunteer for dogs Unlimited Rescue for about the past six years. And although I have been in Rescue and worked with other organizations for the past 15 years there has never been an organization as giving loving and caring as Dogs Unlimitef. This Rescue led by Gena Lutes goes above and beyond to save and Rescue all sorts of dogs from Pitbulls to poodles. It iS an honor for me to be associated with this wonderful group of volunteers.

I'd like to address the complete ignorance displayed by DogGoGo. For anyone that reads these reviews in an effort to educate themselves about this rescue, please know that people have been turned down as potential adopters because they were not a good fit for a rescue animal. This sometimes results in some individuals exercising their self righteous, entitled immaturity publicly. There have also been instances of volunteers that were more interested in serving their own agenda rather than fulfilling the rescue mission and being a team player. Then there's the possibility that any of the volunteers/fosters have any personal conflicts with an individual not involving the rescue. People who are angry, jaded or just plain a-holes have more motivation to publicly criticize others. For people to go out of their way to praise an organization, usually means their expectations were exceeded. So take a look at the positive reviews, if DUR is any semblance of what this person says, they wouldn't be a top rated nonprofit.

I have personally been in Marcys home, sometimes without much warning of my arrival. She takes excellent care of these animals. She depletes her own finances to take care of them, transport them and spoil them. It's too easy to hide behind anonymity today, it usually means someone has something to hide. So for someone who won't even identify themselves publicly but leave a very uneducated, adolescent remark on here that can affect all the good done by this rescue, we would all be very grateful if you channeled your bitterness elsewhere. Try politics, you'll fit right in. For anyone reading this to educate themselves about this rescue, I've personally worked with 5 different rescues, and none of them hold a candle to Dogs Unlimited. The mission is to save and protect these animals, DogGoGo needs a different kind of saving. -Jennifer Otten, Cincinnati, OH.

I have been volunteering for many rescue groups for several years and donating to rescue groups even longer. I had to stop volunteering for one Cleveland area Rescue group when I found out that about 30% -50 % of their donations went to the director of this non-profit as a salary. This Salary is well over $30,000 a year plus expenses and they only have a few dogs in their system most of the time....And on top of that there is a huge chunk of money going to what appeared to be inflated expense accounts for the organization as well as the director. It sure looks like Doggogo has mistaken Dogs Unlimited and Marcy with the Rescue group that I was talking about. After finding out about the other groups spending habits, which is public record! I withdrew from any contact with them. I beg everyone to check out ALL non-profits that they donate their hard earned money to. I checked all the other Rescue Groups that I volunteer and donate to. They all checked out fine. I have to say, From what I saw Dogs Unlimited is in the TOP 1% IN OHIO RESCUE GROUPS... I have made some donations to Dogs Unlimited and not only plan on giving a lot more money to them (As long as Gina is in charge & Marcy is one of her foster moms) As soon as I get beyond the Cancer I'm fighting, I plan on volunteering my precious time if they need it, to Transport D.U.R. dogs to the vets or anywhere needed, I will do home inspections, or offer any kind of help they need. So in closing I want to point out That I met Marcy at a event for many different Rescue groups. It was a adoptathon,.. I was more than impressed with how strict Gina & Marcy are about who gets to adopt a dog from them. I also spent some time talking to Marcy and a friend of hers at this event. I'll tell you this.....If I were a homeless dog I pray to god that Marcy would be my Foster Mom, Or better yet, I would want her to be my Foster Failure Mommy. I read these remarks over and over that Doggogo wrote. If you ask me, This is a middle age Awkward man that lives in his mommy's Basement, Who hides behind his computer and writes bad things about any Pretty woman that turns away his romantic interest in them.

We've had Clover (previously Anna) since May. I heard about DUR via PetFinder when we were looking to adopt our first puppy. Fell in love with a picture of a litter of puppies and initially received a response to my email from Gina. From there, Marcy and Kim were in contact with me every step of the way... from the application process, to contacting my references, to scheduling and completing the home visit. The adoption fee was comparable to others I had looked into. We were able to "foster-to-adopt" our puppy and work with DUG to schedule her spay surgery in order to keep her at the same vet. I was also easily able to obtain medications for her when we first brought her home. Marcy arranged for Kim to drop off the medication at my parents' house for us to be sure Clover was getting the care she needed! DUG is very involved and willing to help new "pet parents" with their expertise and clear love for animals. I have felt comfortable corresponding through email when seeking advice or sharing updates :)

When our puppies turned 6 months old, Marcy organized a puppy reunion to get all the families and pups together again with their mama. Have nothing but good things to say about this organization! My parents are planning to adopt their next dog from DUR when the time comes.

Here's Clover and her sister Winnie at the puppy reunion this past August!

I got my little girl from DUR. They are the best at rescue, bar none. My girl still remembers Marcy and runs to her when we see her - usually at the vet's where she's bringing in a foster for care. I donate to this organization each year on our adoption date. I wouldn't do that if I thought the money was going into someone's pocket. This organization runs on volunteers. They are not paid. Marcy had dedicated her life to these poor, lost dogs. She's a great resource and can be counted on any time day or night. LOVE this org. DUR and it's people rock!!

This is my dog Axel Rose, a Sharpei Besenji Mix. He was a rescue from Dogs Unlimited Rescue. Marcy Ann was his first foster mom. And still to this day when I mention her name his ears perk up.along with the second fosters mom named Robin. Both women helped us out in known and unknown ways when Axel was in a altercation. To slander ANYONE without any proof is cheap, disgraceful, and without class. Shame on you dogagogo... I believe it was both fosters who worked and trained Axel, to be the smart obedient beautiful dog he is today

I am writing this review today in regards to the negative comments posted recently about DUR foster mom Marcy. Marcy was the foster mom to my dog Jennie before she started working with DUR. Marcy was amazing in helping guide us and support us through a very tough transition with a very needy dog. We have even had Marcy dog sit for us after the adoption process. If we did not trust her care and respect her great love for animals we would of taken our dog elsewhere while on vacation. Marcy understands a dogs needs and very in tune to what each of her foster babies need. When the day comes for us to rescue again Marcy would be the very first person I would contact.

DUR is the real deal. Love this rescue and everyone in it. I've never encountered such a devoted group of people. Marcy was my dog's foster mom and we still refer to her as his first mommy. She showed him love for the first time in his life. He still goes to her to get groomed - she walks around with him in a carrier wrap because that's what he likes. I would never trust anyone else with him. Her fosters are not just thrown in crates. She sleep, eats, watches tv with them on her. The world needs more people like Marcy. She's an angel to these animals. Anyone who says otherwise should be ashamed of themselves!

Dogogo.....your review is a personal attack on Marcy and has no fact based accusations. I have personally known Marcy for more years then we ever admit. She has to be the most unselfish, loving and giving person I have the pleasure of knowing. I marvel at her commitment to not only her own animals, but to the many fosters she has and has found homes for and is always there to help ANY animal anywhere she is needed. Your attempt to discredit her intentions shows your ignorance and lack of credible knowledge of this amazing woman. While it is unclear your exact motive for such a vicious attack, never doubt that not only her friends and family will stand up for her intentions and character, but also the many, many people who have had the pleasure of adopting their new member of the family from her.

She is a natural with dogs, the way she works with the dogs, she really takes the time to match people and dogs. She is a remarkable lady that the rescue is lucky to have. I work for the veterinarian that this rescue uses and have NEVER witnessed any abuse of funds. If u are lucky enough to know her, then u love her and her values and morals should NEVER be questioned.

I started out with dogs unlimited by fostering my first dog. While fostering, my own dog passed away. I was beyond devastated. Dogs unlimited was so helpful and sympathetic. I then began fostering another dog the day after my dog passed away- which I ended up officially adopting a couple days later. I adopted another DuR dog a couple months later. I now volunteer sporadically in the summer and donate as much as I can. I have never met more caring, dedicated people to such an important cause. I am so grateful for DuR rescuing the two loves of my life!

DogGoGo is completely off base. DUR and Marcy are completely about caring for the dogs and interacting with them so they are rehabilitated enough to find a new loving home. They are particular about the adopters to ensure the best fit and before they are adopted they have very good care with plenty of quality food. And they are certainly not crated 24/7! That is absurd and a remark made by someone who does not know the truth!

DogGoGo, this is Marcy M. It is quite apparent you are posting for slander purposes only. I have no idea why but just to clarify for the public, I will respond. Oddly enough, the care I give our foster dogs is quite opposite of your view. I actually work from home so the dogs can play all day and not be crated. Our rescue also feeds the highest quality of food. The dogs definitely don't go without. They actually eat better than I do!! Our rescues are more spoiled in my care than they are in any other home (even a furever home ). I practically live at the vet's office and at night, the dogs allow me share their queen size bed in what used to be my room. I live to foster and the dogs takes precedence over my own needs (many can attest to that). I spend, literally, thousands of dollars out of my own pocket each year on the rescue dogs (above and beyond anything I'm forced to expense). So, I don't need donations to care for my own dogs. My own dogs are very healthy and never even get sick. I go broke on buying things for the rescue; not for me! That's for sure! I'd be a much richer person if I didn't rescue! I think that's true with all of us doing rescue work! We are a special breed of our own. So DogGoGo, if you have any concerns, contact me directly, marcymunoz1@aol.com. Please, I'll happy to share anything you'd like to know. By the way, we are not a "shelter". We are a rescue. All our dogs are loved and cared for very well in private foster homes. And no one gets paid in our rescue. 100% of all funds are spent on saving , caring for, rehabbing, training, etc. our rescues.

Dogs Unlimited Rescue will spare no expense or time to heal the worst of the worst. And if they're full, they will help find another place for others to go. The director, Gina Lutes, is truly an amazing person who is a non-stop, energetic dog advocate. Simpoy an amazing organization where every penny is spent and NEEDED for the care of these neglected and abused animals.

Beware of this Dog Rescue! "Marci M" fosters dogs to take advantage of donations to take care of her own pets instead. The poor foster dogs are not fed properly and have little to no interaction while in her care, are crated 24/7. No excuse for any shelter to allow this!

Hello DogGoGo, thank you for your review, however, you are listing some accusations that we do not take lightly. Marcy is our best foster home who provides excellent care of our rescue animals. In fact, no rescue will find a better, more knowledgeable, more caring foster home. Your accusations are pure slander and unsubstantiated. My husband and I came to a Dogs Unlimited Event to start looking for our perfect pet. We had lost our family pet 3 months before and decided to begin cautiously looking. We spoke with the woman who owns the rescue and she told us of a dog who was not part of the rescue but she thought would be an excellent fit for us. She was right! We are so thankful we met her and that she was a person who truly had the best interests of ALL animals in mind. Our new pet is exactly what we needed and I truly believe we are what he needed as well....and this all happened because she took time to learn about us and this pet and she listened so carefully to the needs of everyone involved. This woman has a big heart! We have been to other rescues in the past and we have felt that there are many who just want to move the dogs into homes and that there is not much time spent getting to know both parties. Dogs Unlimited is not that kind of rescue! :)

We had a wonderful experience with Dogs Unlimited Rescue. From the first meeting with Chloe's foster mom, Pat, through to our adoption day, all went well. We were especially happy that the rescue was MOST interested in Chloe's being in the CORRECT home for her. A puppy mill mom, who had been deserted in a barn in January with no heat and no food, Chloe was going to take some special adjustment time, and when we asked for advice about her well-being, we got caring and patient answers. Thanks to Dogs Unlimited, we have a very special addition to our family, and Chloe is now a happy, well-adjusted little sweetheart of a family dog. Mary Ellen and Bill Carroll

We had such an amazing experience with Dogs Unlimited when we got our first dog Finn that 2 years later we went back and found Fiona. Both dogs were handled through Marcy M. She was kind and upfront about their needs as well as willing to work with our schedule to meet them. She and Dogs Unlimited have kept in contact with us to see how well the relationship between us and our new dogs has gone. Both dogs have turned out to be kind, gentile, and healthy dogs. We can not thank them enough for their rescue efforts and enthusiasm for finding and placing these dogs with loving homes. They are generous, selfless and certainly under appreciated for all their hard work. I refer all my friends, when looking for new family pets, to Dogs Unlimited because I have 100% trust in their ability to appropriately place a dog in a well fitting family/situation.

We started looking for a companion for our older Siberian Husky about three months ago, and stumbled across Dogs Unlimited. We filled out a very detailed application, and started to watch for updates about dogs available through this organization. We spotted two puppies who were adorable (Cabernet and Idina), and requested to meet them. We fell in love with Cabernet, now Piper, and we're delighted to get her. We loved that her foster mom brought her to our house to meet our Husky, and was knowledgable about her situation. We were impressed by how thorough the process was, and the care with which the organization dealt with the adoption.
Our connection did not end after our adoption. We continued to follow this organization. When one of their rescues (Idina's mom) slipped her harness, my husband helped in the search. Again, we were impressed by this organization and their love of these animals as they used every resource they had to rescue this dog.
We rescued our older dog, and I will say, not all rescue organizations are the same. Dogs Unlimited doesn't just re-home dogs, they find the best home for their dogs. They keep the safety and well-being of the dogs as a priority, and that is a wonderful thing!

I can't say enough good things about Gina Lutes and Dogs Unlimited, not to mention the many volunteers that foster the rescued dogs. I have two dogs from DUR and they have brought us nothing but joy. My first rescue was shot by her owner in a bad part of the city and the police who took her knew to call Gina because she would take her in when many others wouldn't. Gina personally nurtured her to a point where she could be adopted and we were the lucky family that did! Our second rescue came from a home where she was horribly neglected. She is a fantastic dog! Gina is very hands-on when finding adoptive families and makes sure they go to the right home. I'm so happy that we found DUR. We will continue to go to Gina for our furry family members and I recommend DUR to anyone looking.

About 1 ½ years ago, I adopted my little Chihuahua through Dogs Unlimited Rescue. When he came into their care from a local shelter, he was in need of serious medical attention. He ultimately required several surgeries and many months of care. DUR was there for him at every turn; raising the money for his medical care and his foster mom was an angle; at times taking him across town to the vet daily to treat complications then lovingly nursing him back to health. Today he is a robust and happy little guy who loves to cuddle and give kisses. Without Dogs Unlimited Rescue and their dedicated, caring volunteers my little guy wouldn’t be with us today.

They ensure that their dogs are matched with the best adopter by interviewing and visiting with prospective adopters and checking references. Every dog adopted is healthy and up to date on shots. As I've told many people, DUR doesn't just rescue dogs - they create families. I'm so grateful to them for my little girl. Anyone thinking of adopting a dog owes it themselves to contact DUR. I am retired and was looking for a new avenue to travel and found it with DUR. I became a Foster Mom after a special person talked me into it and I love this new goal in life. It is very fulfilling and I can't say enough about the organization and it's founder. I would recommend any retired person who is looking for something to do to join and be a foster or a volunteer. In fact after joining I became a foster failure and fell in love with one of my fosters. She is now my forever little one. Thank you DUR!

An awesome group of people who deserve a big pat on the back for fostering and finding our pets homes. For giving all that they can. I have an adopted beagle named Jake, who is crazy, but, I love him so much, from DUR. It is a wonderful nonprofit.

I cannot even begin to describe what an amazing organization DUR is. I got Ollie about 9 months ago and the process was very efficient and quick. While trying to adopt a dog last summer I filled out multiple applications for other rescues and never heard back. With DUR I heard back within a day or so and my references were also checked quickly. They were willing to hold into him for a couple weeks to make his transition into my house easier on both of us. Everything they described about his personality was spot on too. I love that they have different opportunities in the community for Ollie to go back and see his fosters and tell them how well he's doing. I've also helped out at a couple events and everyone is just wonderful!

My boys and I adopted our Gracie from Dogs Unlimited Rescue. What a great organization, doing really great work! The process was easy, they kept us informed and they took great care of our girl until she came to us as her forever home. If you're looking to rescue a dog in need, this is the place to go!

First off I want to say how amazing this organization is and that it is truely made up of the kindest people I have ever met! I started off fostering to beagles that went to wonderful homes, immediatly I got another that was in and out. Then I got my fourth foster beagle Monty who was a special case. He came in with 6-7 other beagle and another resuce took them all but Monty and said hes not worth saving, but Dogs Unlimited stepped in for him. Monty was a foster for nearly 2 yrs before getting adopted out on a trial basis. During this trial Monty got away and DUR did everything to help me find this foster baby. He ran and ran for nearly a week but our volunteers never gave up and we got him. At that point Gina and I discussed Montys home was with me and the resuce has still helped me with him and My other 2 beagles Greeley and Crash as I finish up nursing school. The resuce has went above and beyond for me and my dogs making sure they had what they needed even though they didnt have too, between my husbands job loss and me going back to school. Im proud to be a part of DUR and very glad to have met some of the wondrful people that contribute to the rescue. Im greatful that Monty became apart of my life and left a little paw print on my heart thanks to DUR.

Working with Dogs Unlimited to adopt our rescued MinPin Bailey, was a great experience. He was abused prior to being rescued, and had to have an eye evaluated and later removed. Marcy (foster mom) made sure Bailey was back up to acceptable health before she would adopt him out to us. We received him with all of his shots being up to date & supporting documentation, his medical history, and was in very good health (minus an eye). If we were not happy with Bailey, we were told that we could return him and receive a refund if we wanted. There was no need for a refund because we still have Bailey, and he is living at his forever home, fitting in very well with 2 other dogs and 4 cats. I felt the adoption price was very reasonable, considering all of the medical attention, neutering, and shots that he received, plus keep in mind the amount of time is spent by the foster parent caring for the dogs, as well as daily supplies such as food while he is in the foster home. I would highly recommend Dogs Unlimited to anyone who is looking to adopt a dog.

We fostered a dog with DUR this year. It was an amazing organization to work with. They all truly care about the animals and finding the perfect home. Wish we could still foster with them but we adopted our foster dog and now have a full house :)

A friend had gotten a dog thru Dogs Unlimited and then her mother got a wonderful dog and I finally caved and ended up with the sweetest pup ever. They are very careful about getting the right animal for the right home. They are also very good about giving you as much information as possible, such as whether the animal gets along with children and/or animals. I highly recommend this organization to anyone searching for a good healthy match for their family.

When we decided to add a second dog to our household, I really wanted to use a rescue group. Dogs Unlimited (and especially Kim) were so great to work with. As soon as we met Leon (nka Sherlock), I knew he was perfect for our family. Kim gave me all the info I needed for every step of the adoption process and even gave me her personal cell number to ask as many questions as I could come up with. I would recommend this organization to anyone who is looking for a dog. As soon as we are ready for another in the future, I will be contacting them first.

I found DUR online when I was looking to adopt. From the start they were amazing and they took the time to walk me through the process. The foster mom was in touch with me within two day (less)!!! The communication was excellent and she provided me with all the information I needed about adopting the dog I was so interested in and was able to provide me with tips as well. When I drove to meet them they welcomed me with open arms and were professional as well as friendly. I suggested them to a friend of mine where they took the same steps for her. I would recommend them to anyone!!! I am so happy that I found then. They keep in touch even after the adoption and I am ever so eager to update them as well!! You can tell they love and care for the dogs that they rescue. I LOVE Dogs Unlimited Rescue!!!!

I learned about Dogs Unlimited Rescue after watching a local news story about 2 abandoned dogs left at a vacant house to die in 2011. Beemer was found in the attic tied up and Will was chained up outside. Both dogs were starving and in horrible condition. DUR rescued these animals. I made a donation to help their cause and received a thoughtful thank you card with Beemer's picture. I began following the rescue on their website & Facebook and learned about the quality of life, love and second chances they provide dogs in finding their furever homes. A few months later, I began an adoption process with one of the dogs I fell in love with on their website. I liked their process; I could tell they truly were concerned about the care and kind of home these dogs go to - they want the right fit. I also like the Vet they chose to initially care for the dogs - I used to take my own animals to him many yrs. ago and he's excellent. After an application with references and 2 home visits, I adopted Sampson. One of the best decisions I've ever made. A few months ago, I became a volunteer. While I haven't fostered any dogs yet, I've met some of the other fosters and everyone is great. I volunteered at a Pet People function and passed out flyers for a lost dog. I highly recommend this credible organization as all of the proceeds go towards the dogs - it's well managed and they truly care about the welfare of the animals!

I became involved with Dogs Unlimited Rescue after my friend sent me a link to one of the dogs they had available. I proceeded to chew her out for doing so while simultaneously filling out an application to adopt my Bailey. After experiencing how thorough they were in placing their rescue animals in the rights homes, and how passionate they were about saving these animals, I was inspired to become a part of it. I have volunteered with other rescues, but absolutely none of them have conducted themselves with the amount of integrity that I've experienced with Dogs Unlimited Rescue. DUR prides itself on taking in animals that are out of options, animals with severe medical issues that other rescues can not, or will not take on. The volunteers are awe-inspiring and the Founder and Executive Director is absolutely the best advocate for these animals. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them all. I consider it a privilege to volunteer with them and I am forever in their debt for giving me my sweet Bailey, and my foster turned adoptee Hunter. They both make me smile ever day, and I owe that to Dogs Unlimited.

We first became familiar with Dogs Unlimited Rescue after the famous Beemer rescue/rehabilitation. After doing a bit of research, my husband and I felt compelled to become involved. We began fostering/volunteering in 2012 and have never looked back! This rescue will never shy away from a challenging case. Sadly, that isn't the mentality of all rescues, but it is most certainly the backbone of D.U.R!

We first became involved with Dogs Unlimited Rescue when we saw a small abandoned Boxer that needed a Foster home. Not only were we quick to foster, we never wanted him to have another cold night out on the streets so he bacame our four legged adopted son. Since then we have continued to Foster other dogs and the joy of finding them a good home makes it all worth the effort. The people we have met in this organization are all extremely dedicated and caring individuals that all put the animals before anything. We will continue to work with DUR and help these animals live good, happy lives.

I was not aware of Dogs Unlimited until I was looking for a senior dog with special needs to adopt. Fortunately for me, I found the perfect dog and the perfect organization. I could tell that everyone I encountered cared so deeply for my dog. Even just prior to the finalization of the adoption, I inquired about if he was microchipped just so I knew what to schedule once I got him... Immediately, the response was that DUR would be happy to have him chipped prior to coming to me. They are a first class organization and it's obvious how much they love the dogs that they save!

We adopted our wonderful dog Bauer from them almost 4 years ago. They are a great organization whom I still support. I bring Bauer back to visit a few times a year to visit with everyone that helped this poor puppy that was left in a box with her siblings prior to DUR stepping in. Bauer owes her life to them. I love my pup so much, and I love how DUR appreciates my updates and truly keeps up with their dogs even after they have found their forever home. They are truly a great organization and a great group of people.

I first learned of Dogs Unlimited Rescue when I saw the most beautiful beagle/basset mix available for adoption. He had been in a shelter in West Virginia for over one-and-a-half years! He became mine! And two years later he is still the most wonderful little guy! I then became a Volunteer/Foster Mom. It was new to me, never being in rescue before, but it is the most wonderful and rewarding experience! DUR is the greatest organization out there! They spare no expense in helping the animals in need. Gina Lutes is one of the most loving, giving people I've ever met! Not just with the animals, but with her volunteers too! She takes great care of everyone involved!

When I started volunteering for DUR, I was very new to dog rescues. I had only worked with one other rescue and that time was very limited. Dogs Unlimited Rescue has stolen my heart. They take any dog no matter the situation and give him/her the best life possible. The director, leaders, and volunteers of this rescue care for every single one of those dogs. Each dog receives the specialized treatment and care they need and deserve. DUR really is unlimited in their gifts, time, and talents! This is a very special organization!
