I rescued a 4 month old pointer from this wonderful organization. When my puppy's mom got away at her potential new family's home ....they stopped at nothing to find her! They even got a helicopter and searched for her. Luckily all ended well and sje was found. I can't say enough about how they love their animals!!!!
My husband and I came to a Dogs Unlimited Event to start looking for our perfect pet. We had lost our family pet 3 months before and decided to begin cautiously looking. We spoke with the woman who owns the rescue and she told us of a dog who was not part of the rescue but she thought would be an excellent fit for us. She was right! We are so thankful we met her and that she was a person who truly had the best interests of ALL animals in mind. Our new pet is exactly what we needed and I truly believe we are what he needed as well....and this all happened because she took time to learn about us and this pet and she listened so carefully to the needs of everyone involved. This woman has a big heart! We have been to other rescues in the past and we have felt that there are many who just want to move the dogs into homes and that there is not much time spent getting to know both parties. Dogs Unlimited is not that kind of rescue! :)
I adopted my Ben, a German Shepherd Dog from DUR. What a great group of people. They put so much into each and every dog that they bring into their rescue. My boy is a "special needs boy" and they really went above and beyond with their care for this sweet dog. I have stayed in touch with this group since adopting Ben 2 1/2 years ago. They are like family now, and are always wanting to know how "our" boy is. Best rescue I have ever worked with.
We had a wonderful experience with Dogs Unlimited Rescue. From the first meeting with Chloe's foster mom, Pat, through to our adoption day, all went well. We were especially happy that the rescue was MOST interested in Chloe's being in the CORRECT home for her. A puppy mill mom, who had been deserted in a barn in January with no heat and no food, Chloe was going to take some special adjustment time, and when we asked for advice about her well-being, we got caring and patient answers. Thanks to Dogs Unlimited, we have a very special addition to our family, and Chloe is now a happy, well-adjusted little sweetheart of a family dog. Mary Ellen and Bill Carroll
We had such an amazing experience with Dogs Unlimited when we got our first dog Finn that 2 years later we went back and found Fiona. Both dogs were handled through Marcy M. She was kind and upfront about their needs as well as willing to work with our schedule to meet them. She and Dogs Unlimited have kept in contact with us to see how well the relationship between us and our new dogs has gone. Both dogs have turned out to be kind, gentile, and healthy dogs. We can not thank them enough for their rescue efforts and enthusiasm for finding and placing these dogs with loving homes. They are generous, selfless and certainly under appreciated for all their hard work. I refer all my friends, when looking for new family pets, to Dogs Unlimited because I have 100% trust in their ability to appropriately place a dog in a well fitting family/situation.
We started looking for a companion for our older Siberian Husky about three months ago, and stumbled across Dogs Unlimited. We filled out a very detailed application, and started to watch for updates about dogs available through this organization. We spotted two puppies who were adorable (Cabernet and Idina), and requested to meet them. We fell in love with Cabernet, now Piper, and we're delighted to get her. We loved that her foster mom brought her to our house to meet our Husky, and was knowledgable about her situation. We were impressed by how thorough the process was, and the care with which the organization dealt with the adoption.
Our connection did not end after our adoption. We continued to follow this organization. When one of their rescues (Idina's mom) slipped her harness, my husband helped in the search. Again, we were impressed by this organization and their love of these animals as they used every resource they had to rescue this dog.
We rescued our older dog, and I will say, not all rescue organizations are the same. Dogs Unlimited doesn't just re-home dogs, they find the best home for their dogs. They keep the safety and well-being of the dogs as a priority, and that is a wonderful thing!
Thank you Erik for you kind words and review! It was wonderful to have to help us look for Elsa as well! You have a big heart for continuing to support Dogs Unlimited Rescue! Kisses to Piper and well wishes to you and your family!
I can't say enough good things about Gina Lutes and Dogs Unlimited, not to mention the many volunteers that foster the rescued dogs. I have two dogs from DUR and they have brought us nothing but joy. My first rescue was shot by her owner in a bad part of the city and the police who took her knew to call Gina because she would take her in when many others wouldn't. Gina personally nurtured her to a point where she could be adopted and we were the lucky family that did! Our second rescue came from a home where she was horribly neglected. She is a fantastic dog! Gina is very hands-on when finding adoptive families and makes sure they go to the right home. I'm so happy that we found DUR. We will continue to go to Gina for our furry family members and I recommend DUR to anyone looking.
Thank you so much for your support!!!
About 1 ½ years ago, I adopted my little Chihuahua through Dogs Unlimited Rescue. When he came into their care from a local shelter, he was in need of serious medical attention. He ultimately required several surgeries and many months of care. DUR was there for him at every turn; raising the money for his medical care and his foster mom was an angle; at times taking him across town to the vet daily to treat complications then lovingly nursing him back to health. Today he is a robust and happy little guy who loves to cuddle and give kisses. Without Dogs Unlimited Rescue and their dedicated, caring volunteers my little guy wouldn’t be with us today.
Dogs Unlimited is the most caring organization. They truly care about the well-being of the dogs. I would not hesitate to adopt my next family member from them!
This organization stands out among other (also great) rescues - they are deeply involved with every animal they work with, as well as every potential adopter. The level of care that they demonstrate in every aspect of their work is truly astounding and inspiring. Our adoption experience was wonderful, and we will seek DUR first when we're ready to adopt another one!
I have followed so many stories of dogs rescued from Dogs Unlimited Rescue. They are an amazing rescue that truly cares about animals and works very hard in finding the perfect match for the dogs that they rescue. Thank you for all that you do!!!
I do not have a single negative thing to say about this organization. My original puppy that I wanted fell through because of foster problems but they made the best of the situation and now I couldn't be happier! The organization stays in complete contact with you throughout the whole application process and I will always go first to this organization for any dog needs :) THANK YOU DOGS UNLIMMITED RESCUE
DUR takes the hard cases - pregnant dogs, sick dogs, hurt dogs - and finds them the perfect home. Their devotion to their animals is limitless. They give their time and their hearts so unselfishly. They ensure that their dogs are matched with the best adopter by interviewing and visiting with prospective adopters and checking references. Every dog adopted is healthy and up to date on shots. As I've told many people, DUR doesn't just rescue dogs - they create families. I'm so grateful to them for my little girl. Anyone thinking of adopting a dog owes it themselves to contact DUR. You will find your perfect match!
I am a foster for Dogs Unlimited They are a fantastic rescue pulling dogs no one else would want, pulling out every possible stop to do everything possible to help the animals they rescue, and even going so far as to have a helicopter search for one of the dogs who had escaped from her adopters. They absolutely deserve this honor
Great rescue group that helped me get a dog out of a bad environment , thank you for all you do for the animals
It has been almost two years since I met Max at a rescue event. The love and help shown by all at Dogs Unlimited Rescue as gone above and beyond what one would expect. They have kept in contact with me and I know they will always have my back and, yes, Max's as well. These are wonderful people who are devoted to their dogs and the people who adopt them.
Max was the first dog I saw at a big dog rescue event. Fell in love with him immediately but had to look at others as I told my grandchildren that we could not adopt the first dog we saw. After looking at others we rushed back to claim Max, with the hope that he would also claim us. His foster mom, Pat, was there and told us all about him and I hurried to fill out an application. Was very impressed with their adoption process and, although it took a couple of weeks, he became mine last August. So good to know that they really check out the people who apply.
The people at the rescue, especially Kim, were wonderful.
Dogs Unlimited has helped countless dogs from The Mahoning County Dog Pound. They go above and beyond to ensure they find perfect forever homes and have all the necessary vetting. Thank you Dogs Unlimited!
I am retired and was looking for a new avenue to travel and found it with DUR. I became a Foster Mom after a special person talked me into it and I love this new goal in life. It is very fulfilling and I can't say enough about the organization and it's founder. I would recommend any retired person who is looking for something to do to join and be a foster or a volunteer. In fact after joining I became a foster failure and fell in love with one of my fosters. She is now my forever little one. Thank you DUR!
An awesome group of people who deserve a big pat on the back for fostering and finding our pets homes. For giving all that they can. I have an adopted beagle named Jake, who is crazy, but, I love him so much, from DUR. It is a wonderful nonprofit.
I cannot even begin to describe what an amazing organization DUR is. I got Ollie about 9 months ago and the process was very efficient and quick. While trying to adopt a dog last summer I filled out multiple applications for other rescues and never heard back. With DUR I heard back within a day or so and my references were also checked quickly. They were willing to hold into him for a couple weeks to make his transition into my house easier on both of us. Everything they described about his personality was spot on too. I love that they have different opportunities in the community for Ollie to go back and see his fosters and tell them how well he's doing. I've also helped out at a couple events and everyone is just wonderful!
My boys and I adopted our Gracie from Dogs Unlimited Rescue. What a great organization, doing really great work! The process was easy, they kept us informed and they took great care of our girl until she came to us as her forever home. If you're looking to rescue a dog in need, this is the place to go!
First off I want to say how amazing this organization is and that it is truely made up of the kindest people I have ever met! I started off fostering to beagles that went to wonderful homes, immediatly I got another that was in and out. Then I got my fourth foster beagle Monty who was a special case. He came in with 6-7 other beagle and another resuce took them all but Monty and said hes not worth saving, but Dogs Unlimited stepped in for him. Monty was a foster for nearly 2 yrs before getting adopted out on a trial basis. During this trial Monty got away and DUR did everything to help me find this foster baby. He ran and ran for nearly a week but our volunteers never gave up and we got him. At that point Gina and I discussed Montys home was with me and the resuce has still helped me with him and My other 2 beagles Greeley and Crash as I finish up nursing school. The resuce has went above and beyond for me and my dogs making sure they had what they needed even though they didnt have too, between my husbands job loss and me going back to school. Im proud to be a part of DUR and very glad to have met some of the wondrful people that contribute to the rescue. Im greatful that Monty became apart of my life and left a little paw print on my heart thanks to DUR.
Working with Dogs Unlimited to adopt our rescued MinPin Bailey, was a great experience. He was abused prior to being rescued, and had to have an eye evaluated and later removed. Marcy (foster mom) made sure Bailey was back up to acceptable health before she would adopt him out to us. We received him with all of his shots being up to date & supporting documentation, his medical history, and was in very good health (minus an eye). If we were not happy with Bailey, we were told that we could return him and receive a refund if we wanted. There was no need for a refund because we still have Bailey, and he is living at his forever home, fitting in very well with 2 other dogs and 4 cats. I felt the adoption price was very reasonable, considering all of the medical attention, neutering, and shots that he received, plus keep in mind the amount of time is spent by the foster parent caring for the dogs, as well as daily supplies such as food while he is in the foster home. I would highly recommend Dogs Unlimited to anyone who is looking to adopt a dog.
We fostered a dog with DUR this year. It was an amazing organization to work with. They all truly care about the animals and finding the perfect home. Wish we could still foster with them but we adopted our foster dog and now have a full house :)
A friend had gotten a dog thru Dogs Unlimited and then her mother got a wonderful dog and I finally caved and ended up with the sweetest pup ever. They are very careful about getting the right animal for the right home. They are also very good about giving you as much information as possible, such as whether the animal gets along with children and/or animals. I highly recommend this organization to anyone searching for a good healthy match for their family.
When we decided to add a second dog to our household, I really wanted to use a rescue group. Dogs Unlimited (and especially Kim) were so great to work with. As soon as we met Leon (nka Sherlock), I knew he was perfect for our family. Kim gave me all the info I needed for every step of the adoption process and even gave me her personal cell number to ask as many questions as I could come up with. I would recommend this organization to anyone who is looking for a dog. As soon as we are ready for another in the future, I will be contacting them first.
I found DUR online when I was looking to adopt. From the start they were amazing and they took the time to walk me through the process. The foster mom was in touch with me within two day (less)!!! The communication was excellent and she provided me with all the information I needed about adopting the dog I was so interested in and was able to provide me with tips as well. When I drove to meet them they welcomed me with open arms and were professional as well as friendly. I suggested them to a friend of mine where they took the same steps for her. I would recommend them to anyone!!! I am so happy that I found then. They keep in touch even after the adoption and I am ever so eager to update them as well!! You can tell they love and care for the dogs that they rescue. I LOVE Dogs Unlimited Rescue!!!!
I learned about Dogs Unlimited Rescue after watching a local news story about 2 abandoned dogs left at a vacant house to die in 2011. Beemer was found in the attic tied up and Will was chained up outside. Both dogs were starving and in horrible condition. DUR rescued these animals. I made a donation to help their cause and received a thoughtful thank you card with Beemer's picture. I began following the rescue on their website & Facebook and learned about the quality of life, love and second chances they provide dogs in finding their furever homes. A few months later, I began an adoption process with one of the dogs I fell in love with on their website. I liked their process; I could tell they truly were concerned about the care and kind of home these dogs go to - they want the right fit. I also like the Vet they chose to initially care for the dogs - I used to take my own animals to him many yrs. ago and he's excellent. After an application with references and 2 home visits, I adopted Sampson. One of the best decisions I've ever made. A few months ago, I became a volunteer. While I haven't fostered any dogs yet, I've met some of the other fosters and everyone is great. I volunteered at a Pet People function and passed out flyers for a lost dog. I highly recommend this credible organization as all of the proceeds go towards the dogs - it's well managed and they truly care about the welfare of the animals!
I became involved with Dogs Unlimited Rescue after my friend sent me a link to one of the dogs they had available. I proceeded to chew her out for doing so while simultaneously filling out an application to adopt my Bailey. After experiencing how thorough they were in placing their rescue animals in the rights homes, and how passionate they were about saving these animals, I was inspired to become a part of it. I have volunteered with other rescues, but absolutely none of them have conducted themselves with the amount of integrity that I've experienced with Dogs Unlimited Rescue. DUR prides itself on taking in animals that are out of options, animals with severe medical issues that other rescues can not, or will not take on. The volunteers are awe-inspiring and the Founder and Executive Director is absolutely the best advocate for these animals. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them all. I consider it a privilege to volunteer with them and I am forever in their debt for giving me my sweet Bailey, and my foster turned adoptee Hunter. They both make me smile ever day, and I owe that to Dogs Unlimited.
We first became familiar with Dogs Unlimited Rescue after the famous Beemer rescue/rehabilitation. After doing a bit of research, my husband and I felt compelled to become involved. We began fostering/volunteering in 2012 and have never looked back! This rescue will never shy away from a challenging case. Sadly, that isn't the mentality of all rescues, but it is most certainly the backbone of D.U.R!
We first became involved with Dogs Unlimited Rescue when we saw a small abandoned Boxer that needed a Foster home. Not only were we quick to foster, we never wanted him to have another cold night out on the streets so he bacame our four legged adopted son. Since then we have continued to Foster other dogs and the joy of finding them a good home makes it all worth the effort. The people we have met in this organization are all extremely dedicated and caring individuals that all put the animals before anything. We will continue to work with DUR and help these animals live good, happy lives.
I was not aware of Dogs Unlimited until I was looking for a senior dog with special needs to adopt. Fortunately for me, I found the perfect dog and the perfect organization. I could tell that everyone I encountered cared so deeply for my dog. Even just prior to the finalization of the adoption, I inquired about if he was microchipped just so I knew what to schedule once I got him... Immediately, the response was that DUR would be happy to have him chipped prior to coming to me. They are a first class organization and it's obvious how much they love the dogs that they save!
We adopted our wonderful dog Bauer from them almost 4 years ago. They are a great organization whom I still support. I bring Bauer back to visit a few times a year to visit with everyone that helped this poor puppy that was left in a box with her siblings prior to DUR stepping in. Bauer owes her life to them. I love my pup so much, and I love how DUR appreciates my updates and truly keeps up with their dogs even after they have found their forever home. They are truly a great organization and a great group of people.
Dogs Unlimited Rescue has the most dedicated, loving, and compassionate people as volunteers. I am proud to be part of this organization and always highly recommend it to potential adopters and volunteers.
I first learned of Dogs Unlimited Rescue when I saw the most beautiful beagle/basset mix available for adoption. He had been in a shelter in West Virginia for over one-and-a-half years! He became mine! And two years later he is still the most wonderful little guy! I then became a Volunteer/Foster Mom. It was new to me, never being in rescue before, but it is the most wonderful and rewarding experience! DUR is the greatest organization out there! They spare no expense in helping the animals in need. Gina Lutes is one of the most loving, giving people I've ever met! Not just with the animals, but with her volunteers too! She takes great care of everyone involved!
When I started volunteering for DUR, I was very new to dog rescues. I had only worked with one other rescue and that time was very limited. Dogs Unlimited Rescue has stolen my heart. They take any dog no matter the situation and give him/her the best life possible. The director, leaders, and volunteers of this rescue care for every single one of those dogs. Each dog receives the specialized treatment and care they need and deserve. DUR really is unlimited in their gifts, time, and talents! This is a very special organization!
