Only being a trustee a short time, I have experienced a multitude of opportunities to see the integrity and level of professionalism the Cy-Fair Education Foundation has shown the Cy-Fair community. As a growing community we rely on many non-profits to meet the needs of many in our area. The CFEF has a pulse on the educational and scholarship needs of our district and regularly amazes me at the expertise in all of our events and projects to help the students of CFISD succeed. I am so proud to be a part of an amazing organization!
CFEF is an organization that serves its mission daily. By raising money for needy students and teacher professional development in our school district, we insure continuous education and improvement. I am truly humbled by working with such an amazing Board of Trustees who diligently provide for the neediest in our community.
I am one of the newest Board Members of the CFEF and I can honestly say that my short experience has been transformative as well as rewarding. I recently retired after a 32 year career in education. Student and teacher success are my passion. This organization not only helped fulfill my need for a continued sense of purpose, it has introduced me to an entirely new world of behind the scenes CFISD supporters. My monthly interactions with business and community leaders in and even beyond the Cy-Fair area have opened my eyes to how important our district, our teachers, and our students are to the entire community. My greatest joy so far has been in reading and evaluating scholarship applications as well as actually presenting those awards at my former high school. The CFEF vision is to host community-based and participative events to raise money to provide scholarships for CFISD graduates. I look forward with great anticipation to many more years of service to the Cy-Fair Community and CFISD.
I've had privilege of serving as a Trustee on the foundation for 3 years. I've seen the fruit of our labor at scholarship recipient nights at many of the CFISD High Schools. My fellow trustees work tirelessly to raise funds through fundraisers in the community and spreading the good news of the foundation to others in hopes they will get involved to provide the financial means to deserving students and teachers within CFISD. I'm blessed to be a part of such a successful foundation that's been in place for 40+ years. We have much more to accomplish.
I am honored to have the opportunity to give back to our community by volunteering with the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. For the last 8 years as a committee person and volunteer on the Salute to the Stars Gala, I have been raising funds and soliciting donations on behalf of CFEF. The event, while geared to celebrating the dedication of outstanding teachers on each campus of the CFISD district, has had the added benefit of raising seriously needed funds. This has powerfully affected me and my family. Knowing the growing need within our community for scholarships for students and grants for teachers, we promote the event within the community to raise awareness. As a trustee for the last year, I have served on the scholarship committee and was able to see first hand the contributions applicants have made to sustain their families and themselves. Many, working while going to school, put groceries on the table or pay utility bills. This has certainly been an eye-opener and has made my efforts even more critical. If I can help just one child succeed in stopping the cycle of poverty with the funds to support their education, my assistance has been life affirming. Again, it is my honor to be part of CFEF.
It is an honor and privilege to serve as a Trustee for the CFEF, mainly due to the commitment and dedication the volunteers have for the Cypress community. With tremendous focus and vision, the CFEF continues to grow with one goal in mind; making this community a stronger place by focusing on the students of Cy-Fair ISD. The result of this dedication is evident by the number of lives this foundation impacts on a daily basis. Once again, I am honored to be part of such a great organization.
I have truly enjoyed my time as a Trustee for the CFEF. The Cy-Fair community is a special one, and this foundation is often times a wonderful link between the Cy-Fair Independent School District and the amazing community we serve. I have personally witnessed more than a dozen young lives that have been positively impacted by the CFEF, and have seen first hand how these students appreciate the assistance and guidance they've received through the Foundation. Whether through Salute to the Stars, the B.F. Adams Golf Tournament, the Cypress Hoops Invitational, or the Salute to the Heroes event, the Foundation is consistently taking a leadership role in the community, and continues to demonstrate integrity and focus on achieving its goals and objectives. I'm proud to be a part of this amazing organization.
I have been a trustee for the Cypress-Fairbanks Educational Foundation for a few years now. It has truly been a pleasure to serve with some of the most professional and caring people. The thing that has touched me the most is hearing the past recipients of scholarships speak about how even a small scholarship put them on the road to a higher education in which some only dreamed of. It has really been inspirational to me to hear some of these young people speak so passionately about what career choice they would like to take and why. I know that the CFEF makes a difference in the community and changes lives.
I choose to participate in "donate to educate" through a monthly payroll deduction. It's easy and I know my money is truly making an impact on students' lives through CFEF! I have also volunteered and worked on events benefiting the foundation. I am always impressed by the focus on scholarships and children. Keep up the great work for kids in CyFair!
I recently completed grading scholarship applications submitted by high school Seniors. Cy Fair educational foundation is definitely impacting students' lives. Students who receive these scholarships often are the first in their families to attend college. This is a life-changing opportunity for these students. The Foundation also provides support and encouragement to scholarship recipients by providing a Student Success Coach who is a Board member. The Foundation awarded 97 scholarships totaling over $295,000.00 to students in 2013. Additional recipients will be awarded scholarships in May 2014.
Review from Guidestar
I was introduced to the Cy Fair Educational Foundation in the 1990's. My boss had served for years as a Trustee and he continues to serve as a Trustee Emeritus of the Foundation. He strongly believes in providing educational opportunities for students. I served as an Advisory Trustee and then was invited to serve as a Trustee in 1996. Working with the Board of Trustees and participating in grading student scholarships has been a rewarding experience. It has been very encouraging to visit with local Cy-Fair businesses and to see their commitment and support of the Foundation. Our Cy-Fair community is very supportive of the fundraising events benefiting the Cy Fair Educational Foundation.
I wanted to take a moment to thank the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation for the Schroder Scholorship I received for the 2013-2014 school year.
This scholorship allowed me the opportunity to take additional course work in both the Fall and Spring and I was even able to utlilize some of the additional funds to take a winter mini mester course.
Marie Holmes and her team were available to help me with questions regarding paperwork and deadlines and even online transcript issues. They were always pleasant and helpful realizing that I was a Freshman and this was all new to me.
I enjoyed the scholorship get together and enjoyed meeting the other recipients as well as the two advisors. Being sent a weekly email with encourgment and tips to aid me in the Freshman year, by the advisors was most helpful.
I am so grateful that I was a recipient and I only wish I was eligible to apply again for the 2014-2015 school year.
Thank you for all you did to make getting started in college a little easier for me.
I have been associated with the CFEF for quite some time. They have helped a lot of kids realize the dream of attending college through their hard work and dedication to fundraising. The board runs the foundation like a business. Overhead expenses are kept as low as possible so the most money possible goes to the recipients. The board operates the foundation with integrity and honesty. This foundation is top notch.
I am very happy to serve as a Trustee for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation with the other dedicated members/professionals that make up the Board. I firmly believe that the support/investments the Foundation makes to the Teachers and Students of the CFISD to be necessary, noble and to be life changing for all the recipients. And for that reason this is a organization that I take great pleasure to be a part of. This is truly a 5 Star Organization.
Being a trustee for only 3 years, I cant tell you how rewarding it is to be a trustee. Truly making a difference in lives of our Cy-Fair ISD young adults. We have a remarkable group of people serving on this board. There are so many great events during the year to participate in. Joe Scala
I was a recipient of a CFEF scholarship in 2011. They are so kind and generous, and even granted me a one year deferment on my scholarship when my academic plans changed. Their volunteering events are fun to work. I wish I had been able to be more involved.
I have been a Trustee for the Cypress Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees for the past 8 years. Prior to that, I was a volunteer in many capacities in the school district, my wife was a teacher for almost 30 years, and all three of our sons have benefitted from the education they received in the CFISD system. CY Fair Ed Foundation has proven to be one of the most prominent members of our community. As you probably know, we do not have a municipality, so the school district is the common thread within our community, and Cy Fair Educational Foundation has been an amazing rallying point of bringing our community together, bringing focus to the educational achievements that we are known for, and supporting students and teachers with grants and scholarships that would have been inaccessible without them. I am proud that they are a major part of our very large community and an even bigger part of our Excellent Education in our beloved district ( soon to celebrate 75 years of education in this area), and this great State of Texas!!!
I have been a Trustee of the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation for over 15 years. The composition of the Board of Trustees is comprised of the most dedicated, hard working, and professional group of volunteers that I have found on any Board on which I have served. The mission of the Foundation provides a fundamental platform in developing the future leaders of our nation. As we all know, the education of our young people is one of the most important aspects of maintaining the leadership position of the United States among the World powers.
It is rewarding to see the number of previous recipients of our scholarships that are returning to the Cy-Fair area and are contributing their time, talents, and treasures to our community.
It is a distinct honor to serve as a Trustee of this fantastic organization.
I have been a Trustee with CFEF for a number of years. As a result, I have had the opportunity to see what can be accomplished as the result of a single minded purpose. That being the strong desire to impact students lives through scholarships and teachers through grants. We are so fortunate to be located in the CFISD, where excellence is expected and opportunities to succeed are provided. As the District continues to grow, the goal of CFEF will be to strive to be an effective partner with CFISD>
I have been a board member for this foundation for many years. It is a fantastic cause and was amazed at the brilliance of so many students who come from homes with limited income or dysfunctional family situations. I have enjoyed being affiliated with such a well established foundation whose members all share the passion to help the youth in this area obtain college degrees.
Having had the opportunity to work on a number of non profit boards over the years you can really see differences which stand out. The CFEF board is a group of really unrelated individuals who have been put together because of their passion for public education and to help young people not be restricted in their life's goals because of a lack of funding after their high school years.
The vision of the board is very clear and gives the trustees a road map to follow in our efforts to assist young people. But occasionally along the way there are roadblocks which pop up and it is then that this board really, in my mind, steps up and performs best.
When this happens it is almost as though the individuals go into another gear of action to make sure that nothing blocks the path to successful completion of the goals of the foundation.
It is an honor to serve with such dedicated and fantastic individuals.
As a newer member on the board (March 2013), i'm very proud to serve with such great people in the Cy-Fair community. The dedication and class this group displays overwhelming. Through their donation of time, effort, and monetary contribution the CFEF makes such a difference to many students in Cy-Fair ISD. This difference is realized time and again as CFEF scholarship recipients finish college, or career training and return to the Cy-Fair community as productive citizens. Again, I'm very proud to be a part of the CFEF.
I have served on the Board for more than 7 years. The passion of the people invloved in CFEF to raise money for scholarships is truly inspirational. I have personally witnessed lives being changed because a first generation young person was able to attend college through the scholarship provided by CFEF. The Cy-Fair community is a better place to live, work & play because of the generosity of the people involved with CFEF.
