I have enjoyed my association with Cure International as a donor and Children's Ministry leader. They have a clear sense of purpose, and they make effective use of their time, talents and resources. They are great communicators of their vision, and do a great job of allowing the general population to join with them in achieving their goals. When you receive a communication from CURE, you not only get a heart for the children they treat, you also know that together we can transform the lives of children all over the world.
I worked at CURE International Children's Hospital of Uganda January through April of 2007 as the final internship to my degree in social work. I was thoroughly impressed by the amazing staff - their caring nature, their concern for the patients, their professionalism - as well as the facility itself. As someone who has seen several NGOs that are not well-run, I was relieved to be working at a great one! CURE is truly making a difference for the children of the world, and I am proud to have been part of it.
My experience with CURE started on a volunteer trip to their newest hospital in Honduras. I continue to be so impressed by what started just over 10 years ago as a vision has turned into a tremendous far reaching global operation: an operation helping children who desperately need someone on their side. Not only does CURE reach out to these children to show them someone cares, but they also integrate into the process the teaching's of Christ, and that God is also there for them.
I have had the opportunity to volunteer as an orthopaedic surgeon for CURE in the Dominican Republic and Haiti on two separate occasions for a total of 5 weeks. The organization does so much to help the children of the "third world" by delivering health care that meets or exceeds the standards here in the US. I am proud to have served with CURE.
*NOTE* While techincally I also volunteer with CURE, I'm on full-time staff at the organization. In the time I've come to know about CURE as an organization, and become part of the organization - I've been incredibly impressed with almost every aspect of CURE. One of the most impressive elements of this organization is the level at which they operate in terms of efficiency, professionalism, and integrity. Then add to that how personal the organization is in terms of making all of it's members feel like family - and I'm really hard pressed to say I know of another organization quite like CURE. CURE has consistently been ranked with Charity Navigator's highest ranking (4 Stars) for 8 years running, something which only a very small fraction of all charities can say. CURE has earned this track record through integrity in how they allocate donor funds, and how the organization is run from a business standpoint. But again, for me what's even more impressive is the reputation CURE has built with outside parties both in the developing world where we operate, and also in the US and UK where we do our primary fundraising. One of the biggest testimonies is how CURE has been literally asked to take over the hospitals we now operate in some of the countries where we are present by government officials. That itself speaks volumes. As someone both intimately acquainted with the organization (I'm a member of the full-time communications team) and as a supporter, I can confidently say that CURE International is a first class organization that operates with integrity and ambition to accomplish incredible things in this world.
