I started training with the Creating IT Futures ITReady program in the winter of 2015. Before I was accepted into the program I was bouncing around from dead end jobs for 10 years and could not get a good stable 40 hour a week job. The ITReady program seemed to good to be true but with some pressure from my girlfriend I applied and made it. Since completing the program and getting my A+ certification I have been doing great. They got me a paid internship and paid for my training and certs for my Network +, Security + and Server +. I now have a great career in IT working with a local government and constantly going up. Usually they say if something is too good to be true, in this case that does not apply. This program really changes lives and the fact that it is free is amazing. I will be a lifetime donor to this organization.
I've been working some warehouse position with what seemed like a road to no where. When I first heard about this IT-Ready Program by the Creating IT Futures Foundation I knew that this was something that I needed to pursue. I have been surrounded by individuals who they themselves are skilled with computer repair and troubleshooting, but they never shared it with me. It wasn't I started to talk with my brother in law that the Idea of a career in the IT industry soon sprouted in my mind. This was an industry that is only going to increase and a workforce that will need fresh minds and those with a willing attitude. The Program was certainly difficult, but the best things in life are not accomplished nor received without a bit of effort put forth. Although I currently do not hold an IT job, completing the program has enabled me to further my reach in jobs that i wasn't qualified for a year ago. Now, I can be considered a candidate for the IT industry, and i welcome what the future holds for me.
One of the best 8 week stints of my life, thanks to this organization. They put a lot into making this a good program. The staff is beyond good. They care about what they do and that energy rubs off on everyone. I was so blessed to be apart of this program. IT Ready for life!!!!
Staff are extremely helpful, our instructor is the most knowledgeable person I know and is an amazing source to everything we are learning.
IT Ready offers a quality training experience for students looking to enter the IT field. The City of Minneapolis has hired IT ready graduates has been very happy with the skills and level of preparedness their graduates bring to the job.
I like to think that I am tech savvy but wow did Creating IT Futures Foundation prove me wrong. There was and is so much to IT that I can't even comprehend. I am grateful for the Creating IT Futures Foundation for giving me more knowledge and a chance to start my career in the IT field. Even though the class was only 2 months it was the most knowledgeable two months of my life. Thank you very much!!
After having switched careers for nearly 9 years and now coming back to IT, it was difficult for me to figure out where to start. Whether it was resume building, networking, soft/tech skills, Creating IT Futures Foundation gave me the tools and confidence in preparing me for the next step in my career. I was able to land a job which opens the door to bigger things.
My experience with Creating IT Futures Foundation was nothing but professional and positive. Through their IT Ready program, I learned the skills and attained the certifications that gave me the job that I have today. The staff was always very helpful and were always looking for a way to assist in our experience while in the program. CITFF is one of the best non-profits I've come in contact with in all my years of volunteering and other non-profit experiences as well. Can't be more grateful.
PrepareU program is a uniquely designed program to help IT techs understand how to tap into their soft skills in the work place. This program also helped IT techs find out their strengths and weaknesses to soft skills to be more productive in the workplace. Eric and Adam are awesome in teaching and guiding IT techs feel more confident in their selves in soft skills. People who felt they had no voice, had a voice to express their views of the workplace! They used different ways to get the students evolved into each lesson. This world needs more classes like PrepareU to make it a better workplace in the IT world!
No kidding, what they taught at this program is very useful and beneficial. Make good use of it.
I attended IT Futures when they first launched in May 2012. I was very skeptical of the program and wondered who these people are since this program sounded too good to be true.
I went in and applied anyways and was 1 of the 11 selected out of 240 applicants. We had a wonderful instructor and we successfully completed the program. They also helped me find a job, that I am still working at and love it every single day.
I have supported CompTIA and its Creating IT Futures Foundation for years. They have assembled a great team that is truly interested in building the next generation of IT professionals. There is great opportunity right now and in the years ahead for individuals to fill the talent gap as baby boomers continue to exit the workforce. The Foundation is working hard to make that happen by partnering with organizations and schools in order to educate young professionals and teens on the great career opportunities in the technology industry. It's very satisfying to help an organization with their level of dedication and the ability to introduce people to rewarding new careers.
Creating IT Futures Foundation is an incredible program. It has completely turned around my job outlook and given me the skills and the credentials to have a bright future and successful career. I am so grateful to every one who makes the program a possibility, and especially to Kathy, Tom, Sue, Karin, and Nikki from Minnesota. They all genuinely care about their students and their success. I graduated the program on a Friday and the following Monday I had an incredible job offer. I knew this program would be valuable but it is far beyond what I expected and I owe so much to them.
Creating IT Features, has been a life saver! I was in between jobs, and received a job offer with safellite, the same day I was accepted into the program. I decided not to go for the next job, and went for a career. One of the best decisions I've ever made. The instructor was phenomenal, the staff was supportive, and very helpful. Within a week of graduating IT Features, I received a three month contract offer from Delta. The contract was extended three more months. Now I have recently been promoted to another position with Delta.
Graduate of spring 2016
IT ready has been a great source of qualified and ambitious talent. We have made many hires from the IT ready program. Employees come prepared to deal with the challenges of working within an IT company, from soft to hard skills, as well as fostering a great attitude towards personal growth. It gives an amazing opportunity for people to lift themselves out of a job and into a career path. Additionally, they are truly concerned with the success of their graduates and are very responsive to the changing needs of employers.
Creating IT Futures Foundation's IT Ready program launched by career into the IT field at a time where I really needed a change. I was working in a field that did not fit me and wasn't going anywhere with it. One winter night I stumbled across IT Ready online and thought about it. I decided to enroll and got accepted into the program. Getting through was a challenge, but with enough discipline and dedication I was able to obtain my CompTIA A+ certification. Now I'm a much more desirable job candidate and am constantly contacted about various help desk roles. Enrolling through IT Ready was one of the best career decisions I made in my life. The program could go a little more in depth with hands on experience, but it really gives you a good background on computers and provides you all the necessary resources to start your career. I highly recommend it!
We have had great success with people who have been through their program. A great source of candidates for us. Their people are well prepared to step into the corporate world. We look to IT Futures whenever we are about to hire.
I would not be where I am today if not for the Creating IT Futures I.T. Ready Program. Before this program I had been unemployed for a few months, and before that, going from temporary position to temporary position, with no real career track. I jumped at the chance to join this class and learned a lot during it. The Creating IT Futures staff was supportive to me and to my classmates the whole way, and helped me land interviews after graduating from the program. I also was able to obtain two CompTIA certifications, all paid for by this program.
Now, I'm working for a major healthcare organization, just purchased my first house, and am making a salary that I never thought possible. I really do owe it all to I.T. Ready.
-Angela, I.T. Ready graduate 2013
We have been working with IT Futures for over 5 years, and have had tremendous success in hiring qualified, technical, employees. We turn to them first when looking to hire.
Our business has been working with this program for 4 years, and they keep getting better! I highly recommend those looking to get into Information Technology field to consider their program, as well as other employers to interview IT Ready Graduates.
Thanks for all you do!
We have worked with and hired on numerous students from the Creating IT Futures IT Ready program. The candidates that come out of that class are knowledgeable, professional, motivated, and ready to join the workforce! Any candidate that has gone through the IT Ready program is of high interest for the opportunities at our clients. It has been a joy to work with the program and support their bright students any way we can!
The Creating IT Futures Foundation (CITFF) is having a transformative effect, equipping traditionally underserved groups with the skills to generate opportunities in the information technology industry. I have had the privilege of interviewing many of the young people at Chicago Tech Academy (ChiTech) particularly from the first graduating class. What was most impressive about these students wasn't their attitude toward school; it was their attitude toward the future. Each had expectations of growth and success for the future. They are living demonstrations that CITFF lives up to its philanthropic mission by supporting institutions such as ChiTech.
Creating IT Futures Foundation has been a stellar community partner with our organization for over five years. As an Employment Service Coordinator serving military veterans, I am keenly aware of the value of IT skills and certifications. Many of our clients have the training and experience from their military service, but no certifications. Others have decided to seek professional development and a career track in IT but face hurdles because of income limitations and homelessness. The commitment of Creating IT Futures Foundation to our clients has made a significant difference in the lives of those who we have referred for training and certification.
We have hired 2 of the three interns we've had through the IT Futures program. Excellent opportunity for them, and a win for our organization as well. The candidates have to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to get through the program, and emerge with some strong foundation skills. Most of all, they want to learn, and have proven that.
Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis has been proud to partner with Creating IT Futures Foundation for the last 2 1/2 years. Together we are changing lives by providing an opportunity for a promising career pathway to many individuals. Our missions fit well together and we look forward to the successful work we will continue to do with this outstanding organization. CITFF is responsive and responsible - always looking for ways to improve their services. Margie Earhart, Career and Community Services Director
I was looking for anything IT related I possibly could because I knew I was good with computers but did not have the degree to prove it nor could I afford to put the money down on certifications. Every job I applied for I was told to get more experience and try back later. So when I was job searching I stumbled upon this too good to be true program called IT Ready Apprenticeship. At this point I decided it was well worth giving it a go so I applied only half expecting to get it but really hoping it was exactly what it sounded like. I received a call asking me to come in and take a quick test to evaluate some basic high school skills and then do some interviewing with representatives of the program. I explained my situation - no college degree/ no money/ lots of hands on computer skills but no experience, and how hard it was to find a job.
I went through all of the basic testing and evaluating and was lucky enough to be able to spend my time speaking with each member that was running the program throughout the process. At this point I was excited to see what I could do with the program and very invested in entering. I kept asking them what the catch was but even to this day not a one has surfaced.
I will never forget that first day where I began getting to know so many genuinely good classmates, mentors, and friends and for 8 weeks I was guided into what I can now happily refer to as my IT Career.
Specifically, what I liked about the program:
-I think the structure of the program itself was very well done -- there were never days where we had nothing to do or things felt stretched. I was always being jammed with new information despite my technical background.
-Several get-to-know my classmates exercises was a phenomenal idea; rather that just diving into things. It made me much more comfortable and, I am sure I was not the only one, but many of us were able to work together outside of the program as well to answer questions and help one another network.
-I also think that the interviewing skills we developed have been immensely helpful. I walk into interviews now and feel like a veteran and make it more of a conversation than I ever did before.
-The additional certifications after the program are a godsend. Not only have I picked up my Network+, Security+, and Server+ through vouchers, I was given extensive training materials that were invaluable to my success.
IT Ready for Me
IT Ready has given me the confidence in my abilities and the desire to learn more and acquire more skills in every job I have obtained since. It totally changed my attitude -- I used to try and fix software and hardware with what I know and Google.com -- now I go through it methodically. Start basic and get more complicated; this approach has saved me countless times where coworkers have spent hours I have spent minutes. The interviewing skills are amazing and I feel confident before every interview because now I know what they look for. The additional certifications provided by the program have easily handed me my most recent job at Carle Hospital in Urbana Illinois, I know I would never have it without them and the vouchers. I would have been too afraid to spend the money to take each test. Above all IT Ready gave me a direction, I knew I wanted to do technical support, but now I have a career and I now know how to advance that career. I spent $80,000 on college and learned more from IT Ready than I did from college. This program has most definitely changed my life.
we're glad you got the the new job at Carle Hospital and that IT-Ready could be a part of your success. If you continue to put in the hard work you did every day when you were training with IT-Ready, we know you can do anything! Thank you for being one of our amazing students and joining the IT workforce.
Creating IT Futures Foundation Has been an incredible partner of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. They have assisted us in creating and then launching a new world class IT program at our clubs. This not only exposes our club kids to IT but trains them for careers in the IT Field. Many of our kids are at risk and often do not have access to technology at home or in school. Because of Creating IT Futures Foundation, they will not only have access to the equipment, they now have competent instructors and a career waiting for them upon graduation.
After reading an article about the Creating IT Futures Foundation's IT Ready training program, I picked up the phone and placed a call. I was working on creating an IT training program for the kids at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis. The Foundation jumped in to help us design and implement our program, that was over a year ago. We are now kicking off our first class and the Foundation is still with us, providing their expertise and guidance. Our IT training program for the kids of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis would not exist today if not for the support of the Creating IT Futures Foundation!
Great Charity supporting underprivileged on their path to successful IT career.
Creating IT Futures has helped so many young people get the skills they need to have successful IT careers. I am so impressed by what these young people know and aspire to become as a result of this non-profit!
The Foundation staff are truly dedicated to helping people further their career and/or helping people train for a new career. They go the extra mile to support them during training, including advice on resume writing and interview techniques, and they celebrate their students' successful completion of training. The staff cares about the people in their training programs.
The IT Ready program is a great way for adults to enter the IT field in a relatively short time. The success of our graduates, in terms of securing jobs with good pay and good career advancement potential, is among the very best of workforce development programs in the country. Employers get well trained, motivated employees; they keep coming back for more grads. It's a win/win/win, for individuals, companies and communities.
The Creating IT Futures Foundation focuses on what's most important; to provide students with a way to gain the skills necessary to have long & meaningful careers in the IT Field. They are passionate about this mission and committed to making that happen! Kudos to them for taking the phrase 'Paying it Forward' to the next level!
I was lucky enough to be chosen for this program after years of self employment. I have no degree and not very useful work experience in recent years. They not only had excellent support and curriculum, but they had very useful professional development sessions that helped prepare me to get back into a professional setting. At the end, they vouched for me and I got a job the day I graduated. I couldn't be happier with what they helped me achieve and what they did for me.
