Lisa Kaminsky Millar and I worked together many years ago in the hospitality industry, where we became friends as well as colleagues. There is no one quite like her: smart, organized, friendly, warm, energetic and helpful. I'm reminded of the phrase, "All men want to be with her, and all women want to be her". Lisa and I lost touch for several years, but when we reconnected, she told me how her brother had died at a tragically young age, and how she founded the Brad Kaminsky Foundation. I volunteered for an event and was totally impressed with how the event was organized. Everywhere I turned, people were singing Lisa's praises. I have offered to volunteer for other local events, and am even considering a trip to L.A. for the annual run. I would be remiss not to mention Lisa's wonderful husband and children, who support her completely, usually with a smile :-)
I have known this organization from it's conception. What an incredibly dedicated and under acknowledged group. So many many lives of people with brain tumors and those who love them have received support from this organization when they were otherwise overwhelmed and feeling left alone with nothing except despair.
We need more organizations like this one and we need a cure for brain tumors!!
Amazing foundation run by amazing people! Learned of this foundation and was introduced to Lisa after my brother-in-law was diagnosed with brain cancer. The support Lisa and the foundation gave, and continue to give, not only to us, but to raise awareness and raise money to fund research is astounding. LOVE this foundation and everything they do!!!
My wife and I have voluteered/sponsored this foundation for the last 5 years. We help as much as possible with the California main fundraising event Heroes Of Hope Race For Research, which is every first weekend in November. Lisa Millar is an amazing women who has committed her life to one sole purpose: HELPING OTHERS! 100% of the proceeds for the race go to funding research for Brain Cancer treatment and cures! It's an honor to be apart of this group and I HIGHLY recommend them for any business or group that is looking to sponsor faithful and worthly nonprofit organizations. God bless.
Our foundation works extremley hard on a volunteer basis. No board member receives any monetary compensation. We want every penny we raise to go to cutting edge research. we supply information and emotional support to patients and families. Our hard work work has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cutting edge research at Duke,UCLA and numerous other research hospitals. Our mission is simple money fuels research and research gives us more treatment opportunities and better outcomes. We will continue to work hard until the cure is found.
Lisa Kaminsky-Millar is an incredible worker who organizes many volunteers;including my wife and I; to help raise desperately needed funds for brain tumor research. For 10-plus years she has tirelessly given of herself to help others, like my daughter, Lisa Lewis Gibson, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Lisa worked tirelessly for the Brad Kaminsky Foundation before she died and we have picked up her battle for raising these needed funds.

I am so impressed with The Brad Kaminsky Foundation and the wonderful work done by it's founders to help provide funds for cancer research. As the Mother of a daughter who had a brain tumor (Medulloblastoma) and is now a 10 year cancer survivor, I know personnally the heartache families go thru when cancer strikes a loved one. Hopefully someday other Mothers (and families) will not have to go thru this heartache/struggle/fight...because a CURE might be found with the help of those like Lisa Miller and The Brad Kaminsky Foundation.
Losing someone to this disease is a tragedy. In my heart, I know the Brad Kaminsky Foundation devotes so much to putting a stop to this nightmare. Being a part of this wonderful group has taught me how to learn to cope with the loss of a best friend and to make a real difference.
Brain tumors are the number i cause of solid tumor death in children and the number 2 cancer killer of young men ages 19 to 39. There has not been a major treatment advancement since surgery some 85 years ago. Brain tumors rate of occurance are mich lower than many other cancers so the research receives much less funding. It is critical for non profit foundations to provide the money for research. The Brad Kaminsky Foundation through its hard work, has and continues to put together successful fund raisers. The Brad Kaminsky Foundation has donated over $425,000 to brain tumor research. Money fuels research and research gives us better outcomes.
When much of the country was getting ready to celebrate christmas and welcome the new year, my family received the worst news anyone could ever imagine...my brother was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in december 2010. To make matters worse he lives in Ethiopia where healthcare is so primitive and there is no such thing as brain surgery, chemotherapy nor radiation.
It was during this dark time that I came across Brad Kaminsky Foundation and met the wonderful Lisa. She helped refer me to a Duke University Neurooncologist, who then directed me to a colleague in Thailand who welcomed my brother with open arms and helped get the treatment he needed.
My family and I are forever grateful for her love, prayer, dedication and unfailing support. She has been the light at the end of this long dark tunnel and glimmer of hope when I had none. My brother is having a wonderful quality of life because of her.
I pray that all her hard work will pay off when the cure for this horrible disease is found and she can stand with her head held high and make her brother Brad so proud to have a sister like her.
The Brad Kaminsky Foundation is a wonderful organization that is doing tremendous things to help find a cure for cancer. Words can not describe the dedication and support Lisa (Kaminsky) Millar has provided over the years for this cause and this foundation! Keep up the good work!
The Brad Kaminsky foundation has provided not only financial support to Duke University for research but it has provided a wonderful support environment for patients and their families inflicted with this horrible cancer.
Lisa and her staff dedicate far more than anyone could ever ask to make these fund raising events better and better each year!
10 years ago Brad Kaminsky was diagnosed with a deadly brain tumor. Without his sister Lisa and our family putting the word out and starting this great foundation, millions of people wouldn't be as educated as they are. We need your help to keep his legacy and the foundation alive, so we can help end this horrible illness.
Thank you, Melanie
I have been coordinating events and running the Brad Kaminsky Foundation for the past 10 years. It was started after Brad Kaminsky passed away from brain cancer at age 29. Brad's family and friends came together vowing to end this disease as a way to keep their promise to Brad that they would never stop fighting and that they would always help others battling brain tumors and cancer. Over the past 10 years the foundation has provided resources and support for those affected by brain tumors, worked with other organizations to raise awareness and funds, donated over $424,000 for adult and pediatric brain tumor research and works daily to end this disease.
