Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue is an extraordinary organization that rescues, cares for and heals abused and neglected horses, ponies and donks. My introduction to BHFER started when I saw a story on Facebook and instantly fell in love with a small mare named Betsy Rose who was on death's door from starvation with little to no chance of survival. Well, miracles do happen and with the help of Theresa Batchelor and her husband, Bob, and a small team of volunteers, little Betsy Rose was given a second chance at life - a life now filled with happiness and loads of love, something she had probably never felt in her entire life before being rescued. Betsy Rose is just one of the many miracles that happen at BHFER. This rescue demonstrates the true meaning of compassion - their kindness and selfless devotion to all these precious equines is truly an inspiration. I am very grateful to have been able to visit the rescue a couple times now and each time, I come away with a renewed sense of awe and belief in miracles.
Beautyhaven is really the place where abused horses and other animals get to begin life again no one is to bad to be saved beautyhaven does not give up until the horse says it's time to give up most horses that come through there know that they are in a safe place and the bad things that happened to them is behind them they get to know love and care even if it's only for a short time or for the rest of their life this is truly a great non-profit when you go through the gates of beautyhaven they just know they are safe. The volunteers make up the village Theresa and Bob need to make it all Happen and the supporters and Grants and Great animal Organizations that help them Care financially for their care is all what makes The Rescue work and save so many that have given up Hope and by saving the Animals It gives Humans Hope that One animal soul can save so many human souls
Thank you very much for the review and for your support!
Beauty Haven is Home to so many horses that were the worst of the worst where no one even thought they could possibly live thru what has been done to them. I have to admit there were quite i few that I said to myself My Goodness how do these Poor HOrses endure the pain of what was done to them. But Theresa and the Volunteers Never Give Up . THis truly is not only a Safe Haven for the abused but HEAVEN . though i dont get to be hands on volunteer any more due to work and TIme shortage . Its so true that it takes a Village to raise just one. and Her crew of Volunteers are dedicated Hard working,! Its tiring endless dedication with little time for relaxation for theresa and the crew. Please if you see your neighbors animals being abused, and starve DONT WAIT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO CALL. !!! pick up the phone call the authorities and keep on calling them if you have to. !!
After the passing of 2006 Derby winner, Barbaro, I became involved in the movement to stop horse slaughter and was looking for a place to volunteer for horses in need. A fellow FOB (fans of Barbaro) recommend BHFER as a place I might enjoy.Well, I am forever grateful for her advice. I have been volunteering at Beauty's Haven since 2007 and have witnessed miracles you would not believe.
Sure, you say, miracles smiracles.....well visit Theresa's Web site and see for yourself.
The special touch she has for animals in need, cases of need that no one else will help, will make you a beliver.
Beauty's Haven is a very special place of love and caring. I am proud to be a volunteer
I traveled to Beauty's Haven to check out the operation for myself because I can't afford to donate money to an organization that isn't what it claims. I quickly learned that Theresa cares deeply for all the animals. And she has assembled a top quality team of experts to care for them. The volunteers love helping at the farm. I was so impressed that I went back the next year too. If you are able to donate, please don't hesitate to include Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue. Your money will go directly to the care of the horses.
Beauty's Haven is exactly what the name implies. A haven for horses that are neglected, starved, abused or simply unwanted. In order to feel comfortable donating, I traveled there and volunteered for 3 days in March 2013. I was amazed by the caring and professional atmosphere. Theresa and Bob and the volunteers care about the horses. I think it was the best 3 days of my year! It is not a "rescue" that just fattens up a thin horse, calls it "rescued" and then sells it to whoever has money. These horses receive the best care and if possible, are adopted, not sold. They require a contract stating the horse will come back if the adopter can no longer care for it. I went back for 3 days in March 2014 because I enjoyed it so much. The donations are spent on the horses, and you can designate where you want your money to be used if you want to! This is a 1st class operation. Theresa does daily updates with pictures on Facebook so there is daily contact with the public. Don't ever be afraid to donate to this rescue.
I have watched this wonderful rescue save so many horses, donkeys, and even a calf.
I was so impressed with this rescue I started donating to them in 2006...and continuing supporting them..they are so compassionate about every animal.but most of all the love they give to each and everyone one of them..what a wonderful loving rescue.
Thank you! We are very thankful for your support!
Visited Beauty's Haven in February. What a wonderful place for these horses and donkeys to be. They are one big happy family ❤️ All the animals receive the best care possible and lots of love. Too bad I don't live closer cause I would love to volunteer here.
Thank you for the kind words and the review!
I lead a 4H horse group. We volunteer at Beauty Haven. This is one of the best run rescues. Horses are all cared for like they are worth millions of dollars. They are showered with love. The horses want for nothing. The people are also very nice and welcoming.
Thank you Wanda! You and your 4H group make a difference and are very much appreciated!
I took in a rescue "Archer" from BHFER and gave him a forever home. I was very impressed with Teresa and the rescue when I visited the place initially and met Archer. This organization is a wonderful example of how rescues should be run. All the animals are happy and regaining their health. Teresa makes absolutely proper decision for each and every animal. She is a wonderful and caring individual and we are blessed to have her. Thank you so much for all your work Teresa.
Thank you so much for the kind words! And thank you for opening your heart and home to Archer. He landed in a wonderful home and is so blessed to have a human that cares, truly cares - he's been very blessed. I wish all of the horses looking for homes could find a human like you.
All of the animals at Beauty's Haven is well taken care of loved and it shows. The animals comes first and the kindness and care is top notch
Thank you so very much!
I have been following Beauty's Haven for quite some time. In November, I finally had the opportunity to visit Theresa and Bob and all the horses, donkeys and mules. That day was probably one of the best days ever. I saw first hand the dedication, care and love that goes into each and every animal in their care. From cleaning Donovan's leg, to medicating, clipping and bathing Mishka to keep him comfortable and checking Daisy's eye under her fly mask. They are all given the absolute best of care and every one of those beautiful creatures adores Theresa. They know how much she cares. She works until she can barely move and then works some more because the animals' needs ALWAYS come first. The volunteers work just as hard and are just as dedicated. It was an honor to be there and meet everyone (horses and humans). I personally feel this is one of the best rescues I have ever come across. I'm hoping my next visit can be soon to this little slice of heaven on earth.
Thank you for the kind words and for your support. Looking forward to your next visit!!
we have been volunteering at Beauty's Haven for several months. We are honored to be part of Bob and Theresa's organization. The first gentle giant we met was Matilda. She would follow us around and make us feel at home. I am tearful as I type this of hearing of her passing on. So sorry Theresa, Kylie and everyone else who cared and loved her. Sharon and Lew
We're very thankful for your support - you make a difference!
Such a wonderful and honest rescue. I live in California and became aware of BHER in Florida through a blog I read, several years ago. My husband I would donate throughout the years. About 2 years ago we happened to be in Florida and I realized we were a short drive away from the rescue. I contacted Theresa and asked if we could visit. Not a problem. Theresa was gracious and her volunteers very lovely. My husband and I were so impressed with the rescue. The pastures were clean, the horses well-loved, the property neat and tidy. We were so pleased to know our donations are going to a well-run and organized charity that are using ALL their donations for the animals. And we were so happy to see that for ourselves. I always recommend BHER to anyone who wants to support a loving horse charity or any charity for that matter. I hope they can continue do to this excellent work for many years to come. Blessings to BHER
Thank you so much for your kind words and for visiting!
My name is Kara Maki and I met Theresa in March of 2009 after a friend of mine in Florida told me about Beauty’s Haven. I will never forget my visit to the rescue, and how my life changed as a result of that visit, but I’ll let someone else tell you the rest of the story.
Hi everybody, my name is Joy, well Sammi’s Pride-N-Joy to be more exact. My Momma was Samantha, she was rescued from a man loading her onto a truck that was going to take her to a place I don’t even want to think about, and with me in her belly!!! My story almost ended there, but no siree, Theresa wasn’t having any of that and saved my Momma and brought her to Beauty’s Haven in January of 2009.
A few months later in early March someone came to the rescue and spent some time with Momma Sammi because she reminded her so much of her horse Pride that she had lost to colic a few months earlier (I don’t like that colic thing!). I could hear her talking to Momma Sam telling her to hurry up and have that baby (yep she was talking about me) while she was there or she would give her such a big hug she would squeeze me right out of there. But of course I didn’t make my appearance for another few weeks, after she left to go back home.
Shortly after I was born a request was made to adopt both me and My Momma!!! Could it be??
I got to stay with my Momma and we got our own human, our own home, our own family.
How cool is that!!!!!
None of this, no Momma Sammi, not me, not our new home, would have ever been possible if it hadn’t been for the love, determination, dedication and love (did I say that already?) of one woman –
Theresa and Beauty’s Haven Farm & Equine Rescue – We love you!!!!!
I’m the luckiest girl in the world, I have a birthday. Need I say more?!!
Thank you Kara for sharing their story - love to all of you! I am so happy that Sammi and Joy got a wonderful home together with you - it meant so much to me. You have a beautiful heart. I can never thank you enough!
I am a volunteer at this wonderful organization. The owner's, Bob and Theresa, have so much love and devotion in their hearts in making sure all needs are met. I absolutely commend them for their dedication and am proud to be a part of it.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for your support. Without volunteers we couldn't do what we do!
I have been following Beauty's Haven Farm And Equine Rescue for a few years now, and although I am not presently in a financial position to regularly support them financially, I do most enthusiastically support them in ways such as this. Trying to get the word out that they truly are an amazing rescue. I am in complete awe and gratitude to Theresa and the volunteers that take on some of the most severe near death horses and work their miracles with love, faith, and lots of hard work. I urge anyone reading these reviews to consider helping them in whatever way they can. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for your kind words and for your support.
I've been following there FB page for some time now. I love their posts showing what's going on with their rescues. One recent case Zahara! She was in really bad shape when they got her and I just saw an updated post of this stunning creature. All the before a and the after posts awesome! They have an amazing staff and Vets that support "Mommy Theresa's" Beautiful farm. Pictures speak a thousand words!
Sahara is doing wonderful! She's such a beauty - inside and out! Thank you for your support!
Every animal at Beauty's is taken care totally. All medical issues are resolved with the best of care. The kindest volunteers and Theresa/Bob put the animals before them daily.
Thank you so much!
I may not be in Fla but have watched Beauty's Haven save countless "unsaveable" animals, be it a horse or donkey, dog left at a door step. Theresa, her husband and family, volunteers all do such a wonderful job and only ask for the animals, never for themselves. If there would be only one rescue, I would have to say Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc is the one!
Thank you so much for the kind words and for your support!
I adopted a horse from Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue several years ago. I cannot speak highly enough of this rescue. The adoption process and follow-up from the rescue was more thorough that I have ever experienced before. I also follow Beauty's Haven on facebook and see continual support for horses in need, even when they barely have the resources to care for the horses already at the rescue, they find a way to help horses in need. Horses are truly blessed that this rescue exists.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
This is one of the best horse rescue's around. I volunteer at the rescue and I can first hand tell you that the horses are cared for very well. Theresa and Bob work endless hours inside and out. I am proud to volunteer with the amazing people and horses that come through this rescue!
Thanks for your support and your hard work! We look forward to your evening each week when we know we can breathe a bit easier because you've got it under control. :-)
If you have never been to Beauty's Haven it is a trip you should make. I have adopted horses from Beauty's Haven, I volunteer, and donate towards the care of the horses, grounds, and equipment whenever possible. I am amazed every time I go to the rescue. I am amazed at how clean the place always is.
This rescue takes on the horses that need it most. If the horse has fight they help with the fight. If the horse says they are done, they give them all the love they can and stay with them while they cross. Theresa and Bob have dedicated their lives to these horses, they work endlessly long days to keep the place running and everyone properly cared for. Even after long days, Theresa posts pictures and updates on the horses.
Without help even this rescue cannot operate. Donations and volunteers are what keeps this place going. It is not possible without the village. Come be apart of this village. Even sharing the posts helps the rescue to reach a wider audience.
I am proud to be a part of this!
Thank you for all you do. You're right - without our Village of supporters we couldn't do this. We appreciate you!
Betsy Rose got my attention and my heart. What Theresa does with horses that others would have nothing to do with is amazing. The horses feel the love she so willingly gives. She really is Mama Theresa to them!!!!
Betsy Rose brought so many wonderful people into our little Village of supporters. She's simply amazing and has been an inspiration for many, including us! Thank you for your support!
