Baby Girl was in such bad shape when she went to BHFER, with a bashed in face, bone fragments and infections. She was also severely emaciated. I read her story in the Gainesville Sun and started following her progress. I've researched other local rescues and I've never seen one that lends itself to the "whatever it takes" mission. To deal with an infection that was resistant to antibiotics the rescue engaged the services of a hyperbaric chamber. She healed so quickly. Today Baby Girl has a safe home and is a beautiful, healed and loved horse. The quality of life provided at this rescue is outstanding, the follow through, checking to make sure the horses adopted out are safe and healthy, is beyond reproach. The second chances provided are as unique as the individual horses themselves. BHFER doesn't raise the existing bar, they are the bar and with each horse, with each success story, they raise that bar. This is a clean well organized organization that I am happy to support in whatever fashion they need me.
Like so many others who are fans of this wonderful rescue, I became acquainted with BHFER through the miraculous rescue of one particular equine in dire need, Betsy Rose. Watching the Intensive care provided throughout that little mare's recovery was truly amazing. It also highlighted the skill and dedication of Theresa, Bob, and all the volunteers that make this rescue and sanctuary so special.
I love that it doesn't matter the breed, the age, or the potential for re-homing, BHFER steps up and does the very best for every case that comes their way.
I hope to someday visit the rescue but for now have to be content with following them online and donating when I can.
Thank you so very much for the kind words and for your support. :-)
I'm very careful when I select non-profits to support; I do my homework. I always look for those organizations who have a very modest % of my donation spent on administrative costs. I have no qualms with Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue. They go out of their way to make sure that no animal is turned away or euthanized just because it has problems that will take $$$.
Theresa Batchelder and her crew of volunteers, Vets and Farriers are just awesome! I highly recommend them to horse lovers and animal lovers everywhere.
Thank you so much for the kind words, recommendation, and the review!
I became aware of Beauty's Haven Farm & Equine Rescue a few years ago when the story of Betsy Rose grabbed my attention and my heart strings. I diligently followed each Facebook post with every step of this precious little mare's treatment and her unbelievable progress. From what was undoubtedly a hopeless situation due to severe neglect, I watched as Theresa and her team of amazing volunteers and skilled medical professionals worked tirelessly around the clock to restore Betsy Rose back to life, health and happiness with their compassion, dedication and love. This was the most miraculous endeavor I had ever witnessed. Theresa saw something in Betsy Rose's eyes that made her "believe" the little mare wasn't ready to give up and she was right. This was just one of the many many cases where Theresa, Bob and the Beauty's Haven village have stepped in and cared for horses, ponies, donkeys (and a calf) who found themselves in hopeless situations. I am in complete awe and gratitude to Theresa, Bob and all the volunteers who take on some of the most severe neglect and abuse cases and do not ever give up on them. Theresa always finds a way to provide the best medical, dental, nutrition and hoof care possible.
I had the great privilege of visiting Beauty's Haven a couple months ago and to meet Theresa, Bob, some of the volunteers and of course all the incredible 4 legged residents of the farm, including dear little Betsy Rose, herself. The farm is exactly what the name implies - a "Haven" for these lucky residents, actually more like "Heaven". Every animal there is clearly well loved and taken care of in the best way possible and the farm itself is beautifully maintained and very lovely. Everyone there works extremely hard dedicating themselves to the welfare of these precious creatures. I just wish I lived closer, I would be there all the time volunteering and I really look forward to having another chance to visit again. This is undeniably the best rescue organization ever and I proudly support them with donations whenever I can. I am so grateful for Theresa, Bob and all the volunteers - God Bless you all, you truly are angels on earth!!
Thank you so much for the kind words and the review! I'm so glad you got to come visit and hope you get to come again someday! I'm glad you got to meet Jingle before he was adopted too! We truly appreciate you and your support!
Beautyhaven is really the place where abused horses and other animals get to begin life again no one is to bad to be saved beautyhaven does not give up until the horse says it's time to give up most horses that come through there know that they are in a safe place and the bad things that happened to them is behind them they get to know love and care even if it's only for a short time or for the rest of their life this is truly a great non-profit when you go through the gates of beautyhaven they just know they are safe. The volunteers make up the village Theresa and Bob need to make it all Happen and the supporters and Grants and Great animal Organizations that help them Care financially for their care is all what makes The Rescue work and save so many that have given up Hope and by saving the Animals It gives Humans Hope that One animal soul can save so many human souls
Thank you very much for the review and for your support!
Beauty Haven is Home to so many horses that were the worst of the worst where no one even thought they could possibly live thru what has been done to them. I have to admit there were quite i few that I said to myself My Goodness how do these Poor HOrses endure the pain of what was done to them. But Theresa and the Volunteers Never Give Up . THis truly is not only a Safe Haven for the abused but HEAVEN . though i dont get to be hands on volunteer any more due to work and TIme shortage . Its so true that it takes a Village to raise just one. and Her crew of Volunteers are dedicated Hard working,! Its tiring endless dedication with little time for relaxation for theresa and the crew. Please if you see your neighbors animals being abused, and starve DONT WAIT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO CALL. !!! pick up the phone call the authorities and keep on calling them if you have to. !!
After the passing of 2006 Derby winner, Barbaro, I became involved in the movement to stop horse slaughter and was looking for a place to volunteer for horses in need. A fellow FOB (fans of Barbaro) recommend BHFER as a place I might enjoy.Well, I am forever grateful for her advice. I have been volunteering at Beauty's Haven since 2007 and have witnessed miracles you would not believe.
Sure, you say, miracles smiracles.....well visit Theresa's Web site and see for yourself.
The special touch she has for animals in need, cases of need that no one else will help, will make you a beliver.
Beauty's Haven is a very special place of love and caring. I am proud to be a volunteer
I traveled to Beauty's Haven to check out the operation for myself because I can't afford to donate money to an organization that isn't what it claims. I quickly learned that Theresa cares deeply for all the animals. And she has assembled a top quality team of experts to care for them. The volunteers love helping at the farm. I was so impressed that I went back the next year too. If you are able to donate, please don't hesitate to include Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue. Your money will go directly to the care of the horses.
Beauty's Haven is exactly what the name implies. A haven for horses that are neglected, starved, abused or simply unwanted. In order to feel comfortable donating, I traveled there and volunteered for 3 days in March 2013. I was amazed by the caring and professional atmosphere. Theresa and Bob and the volunteers care about the horses. I think it was the best 3 days of my year! It is not a "rescue" that just fattens up a thin horse, calls it "rescued" and then sells it to whoever has money. These horses receive the best care and if possible, are adopted, not sold. They require a contract stating the horse will come back if the adopter can no longer care for it. I went back for 3 days in March 2014 because I enjoyed it so much. The donations are spent on the horses, and you can designate where you want your money to be used if you want to! This is a 1st class operation. Theresa does daily updates with pictures on Facebook so there is daily contact with the public. Don't ever be afraid to donate to this rescue.
I have watched this wonderful rescue save so many horses, donkeys, and even a calf.
I was so impressed with this rescue I started donating to them in 2006...and continuing supporting them..they are so compassionate about every animal.but most of all the love they give to each and everyone one of them..what a wonderful loving rescue.
Thank you! We are very thankful for your support!
Visited Beauty's Haven in February. What a wonderful place for these horses and donkeys to be. They are one big happy family ❤️ All the animals receive the best care possible and lots of love. Too bad I don't live closer cause I would love to volunteer here.
Thank you for the kind words and the review!
I lead a 4H horse group. We volunteer at Beauty Haven. This is one of the best run rescues. Horses are all cared for like they are worth millions of dollars. They are showered with love. The horses want for nothing. The people are also very nice and welcoming.
Thank you Wanda! You and your 4H group make a difference and are very much appreciated!
I took in a rescue "Archer" from BHFER and gave him a forever home. I was very impressed with Teresa and the rescue when I visited the place initially and met Archer. This organization is a wonderful example of how rescues should be run. All the animals are happy and regaining their health. Teresa makes absolutely proper decision for each and every animal. She is a wonderful and caring individual and we are blessed to have her. Thank you so much for all your work Teresa.
Thank you so much for the kind words! And thank you for opening your heart and home to Archer. He landed in a wonderful home and is so blessed to have a human that cares, truly cares - he's been very blessed. I wish all of the horses looking for homes could find a human like you.
