I started volunteering with Asante Africa Foundation over four years ago. And in that time, I've been so lucky to work with people with such passion, skill, and knowledge. One of my favorite things is to hear stories from the field of the impact that Asante is having for students in Kenya and Tanzania. I'm so glad to know that such a large percentage of funds is sent directly to Africa to create even more success stories. I'm honored to volunteer with this group of talented people and look forward to the future. Asante Sana!

As the leader of this organization, it is important to me that we send as many funds over to Africa as possible. It is also importnat ot the leaders of the organization on both sides of the ocean taht all of our volunteers benefit and grow from being a part of this organization. Every person has talent and gifts to share and it is a two way street- every day. This organization is amazing. Erna Grasz

Asante is heavily supported by volunteers which helps to keep administrative costs low. Over 90% of raised money go directly towards program expenses. Asante not only promotes education for children in East Africa but also supports local East African businesses by buying local products and hiring local professionals. It's a great mission driven organization and I am proud to be a part of it.

I grew up in Kenya and I know the value of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and in empowering young people to become leaders. My friend referred me to Asante and I'm beyond thrilled that I'm working with an organization that shares my interest in development in the Third World. The main factor that led me to work with Asante, was its partnerships with the local communities in Kenya and Tanzania to find the real causes hindering children's education; it is aware and mindful of the significance of culture in a child's education. Also, I admire the tenacity and creativity of the staff who do everything within their reach to further Asante's cause - they're fun to work with!

This was my first time really working with an organization, and I've had a great time! Everyone who I've interacted with has been kind, fun and truly interesting. The CEO is one fabulous lady and I can't wait to help out more in the future! I've learned a lot about myself as well as helped out a great cause, so "asante sana" for everything you have done for me, Asante!

It was a pleasure working with the core group of web/design/graphics people to update their website. Created the templates for the new site, templated the existing content and launched the new site. Everyone worked hard supplying me with content, answers, design decisions, valuable input, graphics, QA testing late into the night and more. It was very clear that long hours were put in by all since this foundation functions through their volunteers, not paid positions. The project goals were always the main concern and the objective that everyone worked towards together.

I started supporting Kenyan girls through secondary school several years before I found Asante Africa and now I am able to support African children through this wonderful organization. The staff is dedicated and responsive and the work they are doing is outstanding. My donations are handled appropriately, and my whole experience with this organization leaves a warm place in my heart.

Asante Africa Foundation is able to change lives by offering quality education to children in East Africa. I have seen the great work and understand how big of an impact every dollar makes. Because administration expenses are kept below 10 percent, Asante Africa is able to make a difference with every donation.

I have been a volunteer for Asante from the beginning. I have know the founder, Erna since she was an undergraduate summer student where I worked. When she returned from a trip to Africa in 2005 and shared her concerns and the belief that she could really make a difference in the lives of the young people in Eastern Africa, I had no doubt that she would be successful in creating this Foundation. The most important aspect of this foundation, in my opinion, is that donations go to the project that it is promised to and intended for. Erna has been successful in developing a passionate, effective, committed and caring core group to oversee the Foundation.

Asante Africa is a group of passionate individuals - both in the US and in East Africa - who makes things happen for kids and communities in Kenya and Tanzania. Simple as that. I am a former Peace Corps Volunteer in East Africa and after living in rural villages for several years, I am VERY careful about the philosophy and strategy of international development efforts towards which I invest my time, energy and resources. Partnership, sustainability, grass-roots initiatives, and true respect for the wishes of the African communities and schools with which we work are essential - and that is exactly the foundation of the Asante Africa strategy. Another reason that Asante is such a wonderful organization is that we actually have FUN doing the work that we do, yet we are serious about helping as many children and schools as we can.

The Asante Africa Foundation is really changing lives one child at a time by building schools and establishing scholarships for children that would be unable to attend school without assistance. Founder, Erna Grasz, is very committed to the children she has met in Kenya and Tanzania. Her enthusiasm for the Asante Africa projects is contagious and creates an environment where everyone wants to do what they can to help. I am honored to have worked with the Foundation over the past two years on their annual calendar. The images for the calendar express the love that the contributors to the Foundation have for the children and the communities in Kenya and Tanzania. The calendar is such a great way to showcase Asante Africa's work and share their vision with donors throughout the year. I had the chance to join the Asante Africa board members for dinner with a Maasai chief and warrior while they visited the Bay Area back in June. The chief was very excited about the school projects that Asante Africa had undertaken in his village. It was apparent that Asante Africa had taken the time to really listen to the community about their needs and was working very closely with them to meet those needs.
