For more than 30 years we have been leaders in the fight for a more equitable society on behalf of a broad constituency of environmental, consumer, civil and women's rights, children's, senior citizens' and other groups. Alliance for Justice is premised on the belief that all Americans have the right to secure justice in the courts and to have our voice heard when government makes decisions that affect our lives.

Programs: Afj's bolder advocacy program strengthens the capacity of the public interest community to influence public policy. Bolder advocacy promotes the active engagement in democratic processes and institutions by giving nonprofits and foundations the confidence to advocate effectively and by protecting their right to do so. Our goal is to demystify and decode advocacy by equipping organizations with knowledge and tools. We help organizations fully understand the rules and become assertive in their right to pursue their policy goals. Bolder advocacy amplifies the voice of nonprofits and foundations. We equip nonprofits and foundations through training, assistance, plain language publications and public education to engage effectively in advocacy. Our bolder advocacy programs develop new tools and resources for nonprofits and foundations to enhance their effectiveness and more fully realize their potential as agents of change.

I am the Executive Director of Greater Boston Legal Services. I am called upon to advise my own organization and other non-profits on what what non-profits can and cannot about lobbying and political issues. Although I am a lawyer and have sixty lawyers on our staff, when a hard issue comes up I look to the Alliance for Justice for the best legal advice in this very complex area.

Whenever any group is concerned about what they legally can and cannot do, I refer them to Alliance for Justice. The Alliance's publications are indispensable. Their email updates are timely, and their workshops and other programs are clear and straightforward. The Alliance provides excellent service to the non-profit community, helping groups make sure they are operating legally and with maximum efficiency.
I am the Director of Affiliate Support for the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, a network of more than 100 Affiliated organizations working to achieve our mission. Many of our Affiliates are run by volunteers or young staff who are new to the complexities of issue advocacy by non-profit organizations. Just in the last few weeks, Alliance for Justice provided a webinar training for our Affiliates with very short notice when we realized that new grant money was available for lobbying work in our movement. Also in the last few weeks, I was able to connect AFJ staff with the directors of three of our Affiliates who had specific questions - all of whom received a nearly immediate and personal response that was specific, concise and on point. AFJ sets the standard for how client services should be handled.
I have been working in the nonprofit arena for the past 15 years and have had the opportunity to interact with the wonderful staff of legal trainers at AFJ on multiple occasions. Not only are they brilliant and fun, but their ability to make the law accessible to those of us working around the country is unparalleled.
Thank you, AFJ!

I have only had great experiences with Alliance for Justice. As a progressive organizer who cares about the federal judiciary, I find them to be a unique and trusted resource. As one of their e-activists, their action-alerts keep me abreast of important issues and allow me to make an impact. I also often use their reports about nominees to the federal bench and the current state of our federal circuit courts. I especially find their judicial selection update helpful.
