I’m a volunteer and supporter of Zakat Foundation for years. It’s well trusted and very active within the communities in the US and many other countries where people are in need. I know many people who work within the organization and all of them really work with highest effort and sincerity. That’s why I love ZF and will continue to support as much as I can.

I've been volunteering with Zakat Foundation for almost two years of my life so far. I've had nothing but excellent experiences through my time volunteering at their various community events. Becoming an intern has helped shape me into the person I am; I love to help out other people and organize events that bring the community together. I had my children start volunteering in the pandemic, to keep their spirits up. Over time, my husband and I saw all the efforts they make for not only Muslim countries, but also our local communities. They operate not only as a charity, but like a community center as well, offering many different programs. We feel lucky that we can contribute to the programs and efforts to the best of our ability.

I have been a volunteer and supporter of Zakat Foundation of America for many years. Zakat Foundation is always at the forefront in helping humanity, at both the local and international level. They are involved in many projects, ranging from collecting school supplies for local needy students, writing letters to senior citizens to building wells in poverty-stricken areas and providing humanitarian assistance in war-torn countries. I have been volunteering/interning for Zakat foundation for about a year now and all I can say is Alhamdulillah. Everyone I have met in this year has been so nice and you can feel that they have a desire to help other people. I have been able to give my services in picnics, and Bazaar's hosted by Zakat and you can tell this foundation and the people in it have a passion to help the people who are less fortunate. I love working with Zakat Foundation of North Carolina. It is a great network in helping the less fortunate. I have been volunteering with Zakat Foundation for the past four years. Ive seen how this organization connects with low income communities within the RTP area to help with food insecurity. With ZF, I've volunteered to do food drives to help bring healthy food options to impoverished communities. During covid, I was able to work with this nonprofit to provide hygiene kits to several senior centers within the area.

I've volunteered with Zakat Foundation for 4 years now and it has been the most enriching experience of my life. The work that the organization does is truly so special to the community and the volunteers and organizers do everything they can to help those in need.

When we moved to NC in 2019, Zakat Foundation was the 1st non profit organization I felt welcomed immediately.
Being someone who is part of many organizations, I can confidently say that this is an organization which focuses alot on youth engagement in their everyday activities through service and volunteering. It's rare to find a day they don't have some kind of service project going on in their center or in some other place where there is a need. Zakat Foundation has been a huge part of my life and impacted it greatly in numerous ways. I've been a volunteer with Zakat Foundation for over 9 years and an intern for 3. It's safe to say that I could not imagine my life without it. Every single event, meeting, and hangout i've attended has been enjoyable and it is amazing to be able to volunteer/help others while having a good time and being with my friends. I met my best friends as a result of volunteering with ZF, and could not be more grateful! Many memories have been made and continue to form in many different community centers around the country.

ZF is the best charitable organization on more than one count.

I have been donating to this org. since almost the time it started. They leave no stone unturned in helping people in different situations all over the world, not just a few countries. This gives the donors lots of choice in requesting as to where their money could be used. I have noticed that ZF always tries their best to comply with such requests.

Whenever I contact them, they have always been very prompt in getting back to me in a timely manner and answering all my queries. In fact, I feel like talking to them is like talking to your next door neighbor or a friend. They are very nice, friendly and respectful to you.

In case of donations for specific purposes, they have themselves always provided with updates as to the progress in the usage of the funds. What more would a donor want? I have not seen this level of transparency at any other such organization. This clearly indicates that they treat the donations as a sacred trust from the donors.

Some of their programs that I like are aimed at lifting people out of poverty(instead of just giving them food packets) and helping them become self reliant thru educational help(life skills, health education), giving them income generating resources (like livestock), etc. This approach of ZF indicates their desire in genuinely helping people in a manner so as to make for economic progress and upliftment within the communities they serve.

In the end, I would conclude that this is a very trustworthy organization that cares as much about the donations it gets from people as it does about the beneficiaries of its various programs.

I have been a Zakat Foundation donor for a long time. This nonprofit charity has timely projects and appeals. They do a lot of background work before going public which makes it easy to relate to a project. On multiple occasions, I have reached out to them and was very pleased with their thoughtful undertakings and responses. I am always well informed with the status of donations both zakat and sadaka jariyah. In my opinion, they are a great nonprofit organization and the leaders amongst Muslim nonprofit charities, although they are not the larger.
ZF has progressed so much in the diversity of their projects and in their reach in areas of urgent need. Definitely, this is a competitive advantage over other charitable organization and an element of differentiation as a leader. Their international as well as national reach is commendable and reflects a keen planning of areas of urgent needs.

Forever grateful for Zakat Foundation of America for the work they do both abroad and nation-wide. Zakat foundation made a water well for my late father that will benefit so much people. It was built near a mosque so imagine how many people will do wadu for their prayers, how many sadiga my father will be getting everyday. Hello, my name is Zeba Hussaini and I have been a volunteer with Zakat Foundation for 5 years and I have been a ZF ambassador for 2 years and have enjoyed every second of my time with this great non-profit organization. One of the many amazing things about Zakat Foundation is their emergency disaster relief programs. Whenever there is a natural disaster or something unexpected happens where families are in need of help (such as this pandemic), ZF is always the first on site to help and to provide to those in need. When we went into a pandemic, ZF made grocery boxes to distribute to families who needed them. They also started collecting laptops/chromebooks for the students that don't have them at home. And once we found out we would not be returning to school, we were quick to begin teaching/tutoring all subjects online for those who need it. ZF is the best non-profit organization I have worked with and I hope to continue to work with ZF.

My name is Sabina. It's been 3 years I am volunteering with ZFNC. I have learned so much through this organization and witnessed so many great programs. I didn't even realize how much they do for the local community, for the society and all over the world! And how beautifully they brings the community together,it's really amazing! Zakat Foundation NC is an extended family to the community at large. They are always readily available to provide service with a smile. For the past 4 years, they have partnered with our school, Al Huda Academy (Durham, NC) to provide free tutoring, basketball, arts and craft camps as well as book bag and food donations to the underprivileged. Zakat Foundation has been an amazing place for people of all ages to volunteer. While many volunteer organizations exist, Zakat Foundation has been the only one I have seen where the entire family is able to come together and help out. With impacts both local and global, Zakat Foundation has shown time and time again that we are truly a global community.

Zakat Foundation is a charity organization that helps with local and international causes. One of the many things I love about Zakat Foundation is that it involves the youth in helping others. My son (high school senior) and I joined the Zakat Foundation as volunteers couple of months ago. I have been part of non-profit, charitable organizations before and I have to say I am very impressed by the dedication, the collaboration and the professionalism of the volunteers. I am excited to see the enthusiasm and dedication of people from all walks of life, from students (primary, middle & high school, college) to professionals and others in between. The global and local projects undertaken by the Zakat Foundation are a constant source of inspiration. These projects range from building water wells in developing countries to assisting individuals and local communities affected by natural disasters. The range of community service activities provided are far and wide with positive short-term as well as long-term impacts. Some examples include: providing warm meals, canned food, water and cleaning supplies to communities affected by hurricanes; cleaning up debris from an elderly lady’s yard and driveway post Florence; preparing and serving hot meals at RMH; offering Maths and SAT group tutoring classes; assisting refugees and those less fortunate in the broader community. I am proud to be part of this fantastic organization with an amazing group of volunteers. I would strongly encourage people to donate with their time and/or funds.

I am an outreach intern for Zakat Foundation of North Carolina. It’s been an incredible experience working and volunteering with Zakat Foundation. Zakat foundation had a huge impact on my life. Projects like the 99 orphans or the well project have given me many ways to give back to the community. When it comes to the community who stands behind Zakat foundation works together through a donation and helping the orphans-the impact is too large because we are throughly bringing and working a difference. Zakat Foundation has its own center in North Carolina where they have many programs such as the SAT prep class, Math enrichment, Defence class and much more. Zakat foundation looks for ways to help others in need and I am blessed to be part of this wonderful organization.

Zakat Foundation has had an immense impact on my life. Before I got involved with the organization, I used to take advantage all the privileges I have. I've been interning with Zakat Foundation of North Carolina for a few months and it's been an amazing experience. I've worked for nonprofits before but none have had the focus and the drive, as well as the sense of community, that ZF does. I'm truly impressed by the dedication to global, local, and youth initiatives and by just how much every member of the team is willing to step up.

I've visited Zakat Foundation's programs in West Africa and in Turkey (for Syrian refugees) and witnessed first hand the tremendous impact it has in building self-reliance and restoring dignity to some of the most distressed communities I had ever seen in my life. The organization's messaging and image is humble, but it's footprint in the world is huge. I have volunteered at ZF for a long time now, through serving the community. I've had a great experience, as Zakat Foundation holds many events to serve the community, and is actively involved with multiple other organizations in the local Delaware community, from gardening at the Food Bank of Delaware, to cooking at the Ronald McDonald house, and distributing at the Hope Lutheran church in New Castle. ZF is a very reliable and pro active organisation mashaAllaah. I have attended some of the the fund raisers of so many they constantly organise. I first came into contact with Zakat Foundation several years ago, when our local youth group (Muslim Youths of Fayetteville) took part in the 99 Orphan Project. It was a wonderful experience being able to raise money and sponsor orphans around the world.

I've also had the pleasure of being able to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House through Zakat Foundation. Our task was to cook for the residents staying at the House and it was wonderful being able to cook for the families and spend time with them.

I really want to donate few bucks for refugee children, or who needed most and used to donate monthly in Zakat.org. But lately found they are not *trust worthy* anymore and decrees their rank from that! Very shocked because as a middle class family and one income it is quite hard to donate money as we have to do budget for ourselves too in each month. However, for the shake of ALLAH SWT I want to do some *Sadaaqa*. I become saddened as I see that my children's money are not spending to the right place where the charities Org's should be. I had been with Zakat Foundation of America for four and a half years. What I took from that experience is how much it developed me as a professional and as a human-being.

As someone that has made a career in Human Resources, I appreciated some of the human aspects of how staff were treated. I don't know if by design or naturally the organization took on the character of the founder but ZF is a family-first organization. It has put people and their families first. In a world where companies look at the bottom-line and treat people as cogs in a machine, ZF insightfully understands that people are people, which was my first-hand experience.

I used to work for The Zakat Foundation. You can tell a lot about the character/culture of a company or organization by the way ex-employees talk about it. I can say without reservation that The Zakat Foundation of America implements programs with the most careful responsibility toward charity. The director is hyper vigilant regarding any use of funds to ensure that nothing is wasted and that any money that can be saved is properly saved and redirected to increase the benefit of a program.
When pondering where to donate, I know that The Zakat Foundation and its director will ensure that every penny is properly administrated to maximize the benefit of my donation.

Tutoring kids at the Zakat Foundation was a wonderful experience that i really enjoyed very much. I volunteered for couple of times to help 7th, 8th and 9th grade pupils with some math lessons and it was an amazing feeling to transmit some of my knowledge in math to kids. Overall, it was a very pleasing experience and i would recommend people who have the time and will to participate and help instructing Muslim children.

Most organization spend more than 20% on fund raising or management while Zakat spent less than 10% so you know that more than 90% of your donation is going to those who need the most. Further, their level of transpiracy is so high.

The wonderful thing about Zakat Foundation,DE is the fact that it works to make a difference in the lives of under privileged people around the world and at the same time providing support and opportunities to local community in Delaware. The foundation is run by dedicated staff and amazing volunteers. I find ZF a reliable organization to put my trust in.

I am both a donor and a consumer of the services of the Delaware chapter of ZF. I find that ZF is the most reliable institution for sending emergency relief to most critical places in the World. I have sent my Zakat (Islam's distributive justice mechanism) to Gaza, Syria, India and North Africa. They have very low overheads because they work through volunteers and therefore more of your help reaches those who deserve it.

The ZF chapter in Delaware has also become a community center for academic support and volunteerism. My children visit the center every week to develop a sense of social responsibility and also to benefit from their various free academic programs. They get helped and they help those in need.

ZK really motivated our youth organization to do things for the community and orphans. Since 2013 they have worked at the local Food Bank, started their own community garden and sponsored few orphans in other countries. I was introduced to the ZF Newark, DE Charter about a year ago and I have loved being a part of it. I am a college student and the ZF center has been like a second family to me. I always feel welcome and I enjoy the time I spend there. Volunteering has made me more aware of the community around me as well as given me an invaluable experience. I am a strong believer in their charity work and applaud all that they have accomplished.

A great organization serving diverse people and needs. ZF has been a key player in uniting, encouraging and facilitating our community youth in particular to take part in humanitarian causes: orphans, water wells, food drives, community gardens, and the list goes on. They also provide tutoring to all grade levels and core subjects. My son benefited immensely from the SAT prep sessions organized by ZF. Our children and community is blessed to have ZF in town.

Halil Demir and his workers make everything much easier. i came in with an issue, after talking to one of him about my problem with my sponsorship he had solved it in less than 20 minutes. I can't forget while i was waiting for Mr.Demir one of his workers offered me a glass of water. such manners!!

Zakat Foundation has numerous humanitarian projects serving people all over the globe. I contributed my time and skills in raising funds for the One Year, 100 Wells Campaigns, the 99 Orphan Projects, and helped with organizing backpack drives and distributing them to needy children in our community. It is humbling and gratifying to be able to make a positive difference in the lives of people, whether they be people from our community or living thousands of miles away! I have been following Zakat Foundation Delaware branch activities. I find them very active in community service and outreach. They have many volunteer opportunities for everyone especially youth. This spring, I attended to a conference where Khalil Demir, executive director of Zakat Foundation (ZF), gave a speech. That is the first time I heard about ZF. He is a very kind person. I got the impression that he loves his job and he is trying to do his best to do something good to other people. He has experience about charity organizations. Thus, I put ZF in my list of trustworthy organizations. I gave my 'udhiya' to ZF this year. It will be definitely one of the charity organizations I will continue to donate.

I have been volunteering with Zakat for some years and find the group to be very active and dedicated to serve those in need abroad and in the community. The projects range from tutoring to feeding the hungry, growing food for the local Food Bank, building wells in Africa and serving those that are victims of natural disasters, helping orphans. The volunteers are adults and children, all working together for these causes and many more. The children meet and organize to plan ways to raise money. I have been volunteering with ZF for the past many years. Its programs and initiatives cater to all age groups and their reach is felt both in domestic and international arenas. Zakat Foundation of America does great work locally, nationally, and internationally. I am impressed by its breath of activities and ability to focus on local community service projects/serve the improvised all over the world. I have attended ZF's tutoring sessions and found the students' improvement/engagement appealing. Keep up the good work, ZF!

I have watched Zakat Foundation's activities for many years and participated in some as well. I have been impressed with their commitment to helping all people at all levels; from tutoring local school children to providing on the ground assistance for natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and toranodos in Missouri to helping ease international human suffering. All of these activities are fueled by participation from local communities around the U.S. We need more civic organizations like Zakat Foundation who serve humanity irrespective of race, color, creed, etc.

I began freelancing with Zakat Foundation of America (ZF) in June, 2012, and working part-time from the office in January, 2014. The staff are idealistic and hard-working, with a passion to serve humanity. I love working with an organization that is actively helping people around the world. ZF is a mid-size charity with a strong local and regional donor base, but we do receive donations from across the U.S. and Canada.

One of the distinctive features of ZF is the community engagement programming. ZF actively invites and involves volunteer participation by school groups, college clubs and people of all ages. In the summer of 2014, for example, the #ZFfeed5K initiative galvanized youth groups across the country around the issue of food security with the goal of serving 5,000 meals at feeding centers and soup kitchens. Enthusiastic young people cooked meals while they themselves were fasting for Ramadan and actually exceeded their goal. They also tended community gardens and passed out bag lunches and water to homeless citizens. These kinds of initiatives take the concept of charity to another level and offer something truly valuable to communities. At ZF we want to energize individuals and communities for a lifetime of service that encompasses many forms of charity, from donations that help those in need around the world, to actions that care for the needs of those in one's own community, town or city.

I started working for Zakat Foundation in April of 2014. Since I started I have been witness to the sincere unified goal to help those in need, without discrimination, across the entire globe, from every staff member and volunteer. It pleased me that ZF doesn't restrict itself to certain cultures or regions. Humanity is one, and as such ZF's aid reaches all those it can reach.

One of the key ways that radical Islam (Muslim Brotherhood, for example) gain a foothold in a community, before subjugating it and oppressing it, is by giving out charity in the name of Islam. This gets them, essentially, paid backers and enablers in the community, similar to how the mafia behaved at the turn of the last century.

If you believe that charities supported by Zakat are not following this strategy, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Support oppression of women, gays, Christians, and little boys--support Zakat!

I have never had an issue with Zakat foundation nor am displeased with their services. Their service people are always prompt and friendly. I do like the way their old system was set up though, but they changed it to save money I think which can never be bad for a non-profit. I like that they are real about their publications and show what people are actually getting not just gloomy pictures of kids of with nothing as a ploy to draw in donors like most mainstream non-profits on tv. I think the ratio of donor money is used very fairly and am glad to see that they are so open about their finances. I use Zakat fund to fulfill my obligations as a Muslim but I see the appeal of Zakat from a secular perspective too. I wish really I could participate in more of their programs because they have so many insha'Allah in my next review I can say I have. : )

I got all my high school volunteer hours from Zakat Foundation and enjoyed every moment of it! I know I would willingly come back to volunteer at ZF again once I graduate :)

I have been using zakat foundation to donate and fullfill my religious duty. The foundation makes it very easy and I like the update on where my donation went.

I am glad to see Zakat Foundation step up and help the widows, orphans, and helpless people in Syria, Mail, and Pakistan. Zakat foundation is quick to respond to tragic events and give us the opportunity to donate and help others.

Zakat Foundation of America was the first organization to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and is still committed to help Syrians during this tough time without neglecting other countries they work on around the globe.

This foundation known to us in the south suburbs for almost 10 years ago. They helped the people of Afganistan and Iraq and many other countries. Every Ranadan they come to the Mousqe Foundation and collect donation for needy people.
They are very active and sincere. May Allah bless them all.

I started sponsoring an orphan with the Zakat Foundation of America over 7 years ago. Over the years I have sponsored other orphans and seen this organization expand its' programs to many parts of the world.

I am happy to know that this is a trust worthy organization which serves those in need, regardless of their race, religion or ethnic background. They make a difference in the world!

The Zakat Foundation has made monumental waves concerning community outreach in the Chicago area for many years. Now that I reside out of Chicago, It warmed to my heart to hear that they have spread their generosity to other states. I attended a "Feed The Less Fortunate" even in Atlanta, GA a few months ago and The Zakat Foundation was proud sponsor. The Zakat Foundation reaches far beyond it's city limits to help those in need.

I've known Zakat Foundation since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution - but surely it has been working long ago before that. Zakat serves Syrian refugees in all three neighboring countries (Lebanon, Turkey, and Jordan) as well as those people displaced inside Syria. In Jordan, i am fully aware of Zakat program. they are doing great there.

I have heard about the projects Zakat Foundation has done in the past and was inspired by the work they are committed to doing. It was only recently that I worked closely with the organization in one of their development projects in Ghana and found my admiration for their work increased. During my time in Ghana, I met and spoke with both their liaison in Ghana as well as their staff from the US. I honestly was moved by the humility of the staff and their sincere intentions to help those in need. Something that made Zakat Foundation truly special to me was that it didn't go into the poorer regions of Ghana as a savior, bringing its wealth and acting with an elitist attitude to this poorer section of the world, rather it came in as a humble partner in projects to benefit the impoverished communities. It worked with the locals and was aware of the social and cultural factors that affected the people. They had concrete knowledge about the needs of these communities and worked with them in finding solutions. It was a beautiful example of cross-cultural cooperation and helping your fellow human in need.

The Zakat Foundation of America has a new Community Center in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. The healthy food program , educational tutoring, mentoring and the community garden are a bright lights of hope in a community that to often has darkness do to violence and poverty. The community has express gratefulness and a new enthusiasm for living their best life. One of the GED students said' If had a teacher who showed such kindness as my ZFCCC teacher I would be a grandmother trying to return to school.'

I have seen the growth of Zakat Foundation of America and I must say I am thoughroughly impressed. Zakat Foundation of America literally finds the worst, over looked regions and makes it a priority to do work there. I appreciate all of their hard work and hope God blesses them with the ability to continue.

I have been a donor to Zakat Foundation for many years now. I trust the organization, and I trust that my donation goes entirely toward its intended purpose. I love the fact that their work keeps a balance between immediate relief as well as long term sustainable development initiatives for some of the poorest communities in the world. I also love the fact that the organization is inspired by Islamic principles of serving humanity, and in that spirit, it does not discriminate when offering assistance or empowerment opportunities to people in need, regardless of race or religion. Zakat Foundation of America is a great organization that help people all over the world, I believe their success and credibility are coming from the sincere people who work their. I was helped by them and also volunteered with them. The work they do is incredible, They help people in America, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and all over the world. Their team work like a bee cell.

I recently got hired by ZF as one of their program coordinators. During my time here so far, I have been welcomed into a friendly work environment that respects the contributions of each of its' workers. The staff is energetic, passionate, and diligent, bringing respect and transparency to each aspect of their work. As a program coordinator, I can say that ZF places trust in local expertise to drive and create programs, creating projects that meet the needs of communities. Moreover, donations given by donors funnel directly into providing services. Donors have personally told me that they continuously donate to ZF because they know that their money is reaching the intended recipients. I am proud to be part of the ZF community and look forward to continuously contribute as a staff member and donor of this organization.

Zakat foundation of America is a small organization but makes a huge impact. We need more organizations like zakat foundation of America.

I have volunteered with The Zakat Foundation numerous times. I helped sort out donated clothes, packed backpacks with school supplies to be donated to children in need in local schools, prepared material to be sent out to donors and among other tasks. As I worked I observed the small number of staff whom work at the office and I realized how hardworking each one was. In order to successfully run a growing charity organization such as ZF with such a small number of staff (which also accounts for their administrative costs being so low - 3.1%), all who work here are truly dedicated to the work that they do. They provide donors with pictures, testimonials, articles and annual reports to reassure them that their contributions are used in the most efficient way towards the programs of their choice.

I have volunteered to sort out donated clothes, shoes, toys and school supplies that are then packed into labeled boxes and loaded into shipping containers. I did that several times in 2011 and 2010. I am proud to have been part of that exercise. I observed that the Zakat Foundation of America offices are simply furnished with bare necessities and computers. They are housed in a one storey unimposing brick building. There is nothing superfluous about their quarters . . which leads me to conclude that the organization is frugal, when it comes to using donated money for themselves and using most of the money for those who need help. The director and his family are active contributing members of the community and are known for their integrity. I am including them in my review because I believe that they represent the Foundation. I am both an employee–Graphics & Web Design Coordinator–and donor to Zakat Foundation of America (ZF). I am proud to be part of an organization that holds itself to the highest standards. ZF actively works toward the highest levels of transparency and efficiency–using the largest portion of every donation toward the beneficiaries.
