New rules have been imposed for lapswim at the Corpus Christi Y
1. Must be horizontal swimmer going from one end to another
2. Must be fast lapswimmer
3. All slow swimmers are to share one lane.
These new guidelines are a sham and a pretense to cover up agism.
Last week, I shared a lane with 2 other slow swimmers and 2 non-swimmers.
Today all non-swimmers are asked to leave the pool and move to the warm-water area if they wanted to remain.
This is absurd. I left. As I was leaving I was asked for my opinion.
I feel that this is a cover-up for the underlying current of discrimination and racism that is alive and well in our local chapter of the YWCA, as well as unwritten echaelon being followed at this YWCA.
