Mission: Youth-Reach Houston was formed in 1985 after a search was launched to find a suitable residential treatment program for the indigent young people of Houston. The kids that were being encountered had little to no family support, lived mainly on the streets, and had no capacity to afford the expensive programs that were easily found. While looking for an alternative to a life on the streets, Curt Williams, founder of Youth-Reach Houston, began taking these kids into his own home. It soon became apparent that there was no program that held to Christian values, was long term, worked with the age range he was finding, and did not charge a fee. Therefore, Youth-Reach Houston was born.
Youth Reach Houston provides residential care without charge to troubled young men. Youth Reach has been helping teens for nearly 30 years. The yield of time and financial support really makes a difference in the lives of young boys and their families. Youth Reach works with boys who have been abandon, given up, arrested, and facing issues such as physical, sexual, and substance abuse. Any type of support goes a long way with this organization.
