Mission: To strengthen and make effective programs as set forth by the gfwc of north carolina, inc. , (gfwc-nc) and the club to provide opportunity for community service and good citizenship through promotion of education and activities in civic, cultural, educational, and social welfare for the betterment of the commonwealth.
Programs: The youngsville woman's club owns and maintains a historic former church building which is home to the youngsville museum of history. Current year accomplishments include: establishing a regular schedule of hours open to the public; creating an exhibit of medical instruments and papers from one of the town's family doctors; collecting and organizing research papers, photographs, memorabilia, and other items from youngsville's past. In addition, the museum is a stop on the "quilt trails of the tar river", displaying the quilt block "steps to the altar".
the youngsville woman's club participates in projects that highlight the arts, conservation, education, home life, international outreach, and public issues. The club's annual arts festival exhibition and competition provides local students and club members an opportunity to showcase their artwork and to compete for awards on the local, district, and state level. Club members collected items and packed shoeboxes for operation christmas child, an organization that distributes the boxes around the world to children in need. The club maintains the landscaping and seasonal decorations for a corner "garden spot" on main street in youngsville.
as an affiliate of the general federation of women's clubs (gfwc) and gfwc-north carolina, the youngsville woman's club is committed to volunteer service in the community and financial support of charitable organizations in which the members develop an interest. Donations were given to two local girl scout troops for assistance with uniforms and project expenses. A grant was given to the youngsville area business association's "christmas care" project, which provides food, clothing, and holiday gifts for struggling families. A donation was given to the raleigh chapter of project linus, an organization that provides handmade blankets to children who are ill. Proceeds from "bingo night" were sent to heifer international for their initiatives to end world hunger and poverty.
