Programs: The Young Advocates Program (YAP) is a paid leadership program developed by Young Invincibles. Advocates work with our teams to strengthen the voices of young people across our issue areas. This includes overseeing on-the-ground organizing, such as planning state and local events to educate and facilitate discussions on pressing issues affecting our generation. They have the opportunity to work with our policy team to research and propose solutions to some of these challenges, and to work with our communications team to amplify their stories and messages. The Youth Advisory Boards are a a diverse group of young adults who weigh in on YI’s work and our strategies for engaging with young adults. On a quarterly basis, board members convene with YI staff to provide feedback on our campaigns, identify areas for organizational growth, and discuss any new initiatives that YI should consider. Board members share how our federal work resonates in their states, and help us identify how our federal priorities align with work that is happening in their states. At YI, we use research to identify persistent problems facing young adults’ economic security and generate new policy ideas to tackle those challenges. We strive to make sure the best evidence informs all aspects of our work, combining the voices and experiences of young adults with rigorous quantitative research. In addition, we advocate at the state and federal levels in support of policies that improve equity and help level the playing field for our generation. Young Invincibles’ storytelling program provides a platform for young people to have their lived experiences heard. Young people are often excluded from the policymaking process, yet are widely impacted by the decisions of local and national lawmakers. YI ensures young people have seat at the table by sharing stories from those most impacted by health care, higher education, workforce, and financial policies. We work with young adults to share their personal accounts through op-eds and blogs, interviews with the media, and speaking engagements. Generation Vaxxed is a campaign powered by Young Invincibles created to address the low COVID-19 vaccination rates among young adults. The vaccination rates compared to other age groups demonstrates a growing public health crisis facing young adults.
