Mission: Young Audiences of San Jose & Silicon Valley (YA) is a leading resource for arts education in the South San Francisco Bay area. YA's mission is to help make the arts an essential part of young people's education, in order to develop their potential as creative and productive human beings. We implement this in two ways: For children, we offer over 200 ethnically diverse arts programs -- workshops, performances and residencies -- designed and presented by high-quality professional artists in the disciplines of theater, dance, music and visual arts. For teachers, we provide live and web-based professional development and resources to support integration of the arts into the K-12 curriculum (including our interactive website www.arts4learning.org).
Programs: Young Audiences offers a variety of programs to students, teachers, artists, and the community. To students, we offer in-school performances, hands-on workshops, and long-term artist residencies. To teachers, we offer planning assistance, hands-on arts workshops, and Arts For Learning, a professional development program supported by the online educational resource,www.arts4learning.org. To artists, we offer assistance in program design, promotion, and the development of curriculum materials. To the community, we offer family-oriented public performances in museums, libraries, and community centers.
