Mission: The young americas business trust (yabt) was established to promote social and economic development in the western hemisphere and elsewhere through programs, projects and activities. It achieves these program objectives by creating an environment that advances efforts to improve the quality of life of young adults, especially those living in near poverty areas. To achieve this, it has developed certain program agenda's to help create opportunities for employment of the youth, and young adults through enterprise creation, formal and non-formal training, application of technology, and the expansion of these enterprises established by these young adults. The organization is supported through corporate contributions and international organizations such as the world bank, the organization of american states, pepsico, dell inc, wharton school of business of the university of pennsylvania, among others.
Programs: The talent and innovation competition of the americas (tic americas) organized by the young americas business trust (yabt) is a business accelerator platform for young entrepreneurs to foster their business ideas and start-ups. Tic americas provides guidance, training, mentoring, seed capital, investment and a wide international network. Regardless of the level of the solution and business model, this program is tailored to help entrepreneurs in their journey to growth. Every year top innovative business solutions are identified trained and coached to foster more sustainable and inclusive development in latin america and the caribbean. Since 2007, more than 31,709 young entrepreneurs from 48 countries have participated in tic americas, registering a total of 13,360 business proposals.
young entrepreneur leadership network: development of young entrepreneur "leadership links" and national activities in oas member states by providing, identifying and supporting programs for young entrepreneurs. Connecting young entrepreneurs and national associations in a regional network, with opportunities to form a new generation of responsible business leaders and provide support to other organizations in the design and development of effective programs for young entrepreneur, such as the youth economic summit by making cents, ideas for action by wharton school of the university of pennsylvania, among others.
the caribbean innovation competition (cic) is an international support programme and business start-up accelerator for entrepreneurs in the caribbean. Organized by the young americas business trust (yabt), in collaboration with reach* regional and national partners, the cic helps transform intellectual ideas into profitable business models through the commercialization of intellectual entrepreneurial assets (ieas). The cic will connect entrepreneurs with mentor, additional resources and online training throughout the process.
