I became involved with Yoga 4 Change through work, and know firsthand how amazing of an organization it is, and the incredible work they do. Because of the partnership Yoga 4 Change had with my organization, we were able to host events that were donation based and all of the proceeds went to Y4C. We wouldn't have done it any other way, after knowing the result that yoga has on the populations Y4C serves.
I have worked with Yoga 4 Change several times. They have always impressed me with their caring heart for others. No matter who you are they have been an encouragement to the people the surround Yoga 4 Change. I am always down to work with them anytime!
I had the pleasure of listening to several members of Y4C speak passionately about the positive impact of their work and their plan to expand outreach throughout Florida. It's been wonderful to see them accomplish this goal in a short time, and I'm proud to support the continued success of these work changers.
Yoga 4 Change serves veterans, incarcerated individuals, youth and people living with mental health conditions through purpose-driven yoga. It has a unique mission that has helped so many develop the tools to heal and thrive. Their data driven approach, constant community outreach and professional focused staff help them standout. We have a local small business and partner with them to bring awareness to their cause and it's been wonderful to see their growth over the years.
I’m grateful that Yoga 4 Change has expanded outside of North Florida, and into South Florida, Tampa Bay and Central Florida. Sharing mental health resources with underserved communities, especially during this time is needed!
I am totally inspired by the work Yoga4Change does! This organization brings the opportunity of yoga, with all of it's benefits, the list is long, to the community. The veterans and youth, those that are incarcerated and those seeking substance abuse help, they even offer community yoga classes at really cool locations- this organization has found a wonderful recipe to bring peace and relaxation as a new outlet to bring hope and calm into your life. Amazing organization.
I have had the pleasure of working with Kathryn Thomas and Bre Tivvis over the past few years on various types of programming, notably our "Yoga Day with the Jaguars" we've intermittently hosted since 2016. The amount of passion these two put into this organization is infectious; I am proud to call them clients, partners and ultimately friends. To help in any way that I can to in spreading the message and impactful work that Y4C has here both locally and nationally is the least I can do when I see the difference these two make through their programming. I am extremely proud to partner with them and Y4C, and look forward to watching this organization grow even larger and increase their impact in the future.
I’ve followed and donated to this amazing non-profit after meeting their founder, Kathryn, at a yoga event back in2014. I’m constantly inspired by the work they’ve been called to do, so much so that I began offering yoga classes in the local detention center here in my hometown. Yoga4Change provides an invaluable service to the communities they serve.
I have been teaching with Yoga 4 Change for the past couple of years. I have received quality trauma informed training from Y4C. I work in the public school system and support staff and students in 10 schools. I have had the opportunity to teach yoga to youth in after school programs. Teaching yoga to youth is important because imbedded in the curriculum are strategies that will help to them to self-regulate. Staff has shared the students actually remember and utilize strategies taught during class. My hope is that more students will have an opportunity to participate in Y4C classes.
Bre and Kathryn have been a joy to work with in the time we've known each other.
They and their colleagues at Y4C are always coming up with new dynamics and inventive ways to positively impact our community through yoga and raising the funds necessary to make their initiatives a reality.
Their passion and work ethic over the years has always ensured that each opportunity to partner leaves everyone in a better position than before. In other words- they always seem to create a win-win.
We are very happy to continue supporting Y4C in whatever way we can.
Thank you, Bre and Kathyrn!
We have partnered with Yoga 4 Change on a multiple occasions. In every instance, they are overly accommodating to our needs and treat every event as a true partnership. When the ability arises to assist in the community, Yoga 4 Change is the first organization that I contact.
The impact that Yoga4Change is making in the community is tangible. It is making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable members of our community through strategic partnerships and c restive programming.
I have been so impressed with the integrity of this group of well educated, earnest and devoted people. Their commitment to excellence is outstanding and ability to effect true change in a person struggling with PTSD or addiction is revolutionary. They give me hope that one day, yoga therapy will be part of the healthcare delivery systems' protocol and can give people a choice as to their therapeutic needs vs always using medications as a coping device. I am also excited for them to help the incarcerated - a group of people who desperately need these services and for which, y4c.org has proven with data the positive effects.
Yoga 4 Change is doing amazing work around Florida. They use yoga to empower those in our community who may not have much autonomy in their lives due to unforeseen circumstances or by the result of their own actions. Either way, the yoga is something they can tangibly use to better themselves physically, emotionally and mentally. And when more people do that- it makes our whole community better.
Yoga 4 Change is committed to providing trauma-informed yoga to populations who are often overlooked: those involved in the incarceral system, those struggling with substance abuse issues, veterans and underserved youth. I had the privilege of observing a class offered to men in Jacksonville's Community Transition Center and was blown away by the impact it had on those in attendance. The yoga class challenged them to think differently, not just about what they were able to accomplish physically but how they might implement change to create different future outcomes in their lives. The work the Y4C team is doing has benefitted our city, and is now expanding throughout the state with the hope of expanding throughout the country. The program is low-cost, high impact and worthy of financial support from anyone wanting to improve the health and well-being of their community.
I was assistant principal at KIPP Impact when Yoga 4 Change began coming in and working with our kids. The results of seeing them better able to manage their tempers and embrace trying something VERY different to them was amazing!!
I have been amazed at how many hearts they have touched in such a small span of time! They have a great vision and are changing lives!
I was on the teaching team with Yoga 4 Change and learned more about trauma informed yoga and meeting each student where they are at than I ever had before! Y4C empowered me to learn more about myself through yoga and empowered the students I worked with. One specific story that stands out to me was a 3rd grader who started fighting with another classmate. The teacher broke them up and I went over to the angry student and said in a louder voice to get his attention “what are you feeling right now? What are you feeling right now?” Through gritted teeth he said “I’m angry!!!” I said “Where do you feel anger in your body?” The boy responded “In my chest miss, in my chest!”
I reassured him that it is okay to be angry and when we are angry we breathe. He took 5 deep, loud lion breaths and continued to come back to yoga every week. Yoga 4 Change teaches more than stretches. Y4C empowers students to use their own tools, their breath and yoga postures to make daily changes to their lives. I am so grateful to have been a part of this organization.
I was in one of Y4C first classes! Now I’m in a position to give back and ensure other people have access to trauma-informed yoga.
Yoga 4 Change changed my life. I learned how to breathe then react, how to think clearly instead if constantly reacting, and how to forgive myself - while I was incarcerated. I wanted to kill myself, and now I love who I am. The teachers are amazing, and Ms Catherine and Ms Angela gave me hope. Thank you Yoga 4 Change!
Yoga 4 Change provided programming to my middle school and it drastically improved the lives and behavior of some of our most at-risk students. It was was truly incredible to hear these "out of control" kids talk about learning to control their breath when they were upset, instead of lashing out.
Yoga4change is doing the real work of yoga by bringing yoga vulnerable populations that would likely never otherwise be exposed to the healing benefits of the practice. They are making changes that really matter.
Great experience, amazing teachers! Bringing yoga to the community at a whole new level! Truly committed to the greater good of our communities!
Yoga 4 Change is a wonderful organization, doing so much good for people who really need it. The teachers are kind, engaging, and push students to find love in themselves while building community. I support Yoga 4 Change!
I have been to a number of events facilitated by Yoga4Change and I'm always so impressed with the work they do in the Jax community. The events always leave me feeling inspired and hopeful!
