Mission: The ymca of riverside city and county is a non-profit, faith based organization with a mission to build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The ymca of riverside city and county is able to do this through three areas of focus. The y is for healthy living, social responsibility and youth development. All programs within the ymca are mission driven and derived from either healthy living, social responsibility or youth development. The ymca provides services for infants, children, youth, adults and seniors. The ymca welcomes all people and all religions. Additionally, the ymca provides services to all who need and wish to either seek positive health, childcare or other care regardless of their ability to pay.
Programs: Family life - an adventurous guided parent child program mostly held in the community. The goal is to provide more opportunities for families to get together in small groups with children of like ages.
child development programs - child development programs and day care centers aimed at assisting and caring for qualified children, providing a safe place to learn, play and develop social skills through interaction with otherchildren. Also provides nutritional programs for qualified children.
health and aquatics or healthy living is focused on providing programs geared towards children, youth, adults or seniors that are seeking positive health and well being. The aquatics department is not only focused on aquatic exercise but additionally the social responsibility aspect of teaching our children, youth, adults and seniors to swim. As a ymca, teaching swimming lessons, allows the ymca to save lives. The aquatics department also is responsible for the instruction of first aid, cpr, life guarding, water safety, water safety instruction and other forms of first aid. The ymca also believes that by being a beacon of health and safety the community around them will in turn become safer and be allowed to thrive.
camping - the camping program is for children ages 6-16 to have a one week resident camping experience primarily in the local mountains. The majority of these children are from low income families.
