Mission: The ymca of dodge county is a charitable association founded on christian principles, open to all, and dedicated to building a healthy spirit, mind, and body through diversified programming.
Programs: The ymca of dodge county offers a variety of youth and adult oriented aquatic programs. Programming is developed keeping in mind the overall goal of the organization of building healthy spirit, mind and body and includes swim lessons for all ages, water excercise, lifeguard training and a swim team. The programming goals are accomplished in the organizations aquatic facility consisting of a competitive pool and a family adventure waterpark. All pools are available for the organizations aquatic programs and open swim sessions. Our swim team, called the dodge county sea dragons, provides swimmers with the opportunity to excel in the sport of swimming and is the ideal place for swimmers to strive to reach personal and team goals. The swim team season begins mid-october and runs through late march. Approximately 80 individuals annually participate in the swim team season. Lifeguard training is offered for individuals attaining the age of 15. Upon successful completion of the training each participant receives red cross certification. The training program focuses on skills and knowledge required to become a lifeguard, including cpr and basic first aid training. This program serves approximately 200 individuals annually. Water exercise programming included aquacises, deep water aqua jog, healthy back, joint effort, high intensity water aerobics and propulsion walking. Water exercise programs provide the participants with both a cardio and toning workout ranging from low to high impact workouts. Aproximately 1000 individuals participate annually. Swim lessons are provided to individuals of various age groups and skill levels who desire to begin or improve swimming skills. The instructional classes serve approximately 2500 participants annually. The ymca of dodge county has also developed collaborations in neighboring communities to extend the aquatic services to those communities during the summer months at the local facility. During the past year the communities of fox lake, horicon, lomira, and waupun were served.
school age programs are designed to accomplish the organizations mission of serving families. Current school age programming includes daily child care, after/before school child care,club wannago summer program, and the beaver dam 4 kids program which is a four year old kindergarten program provided through a partnership with the beaver dam unified school district. A new facility, opened in july 2016 on monroe street in the city of beaver dam, includes weekday full day (ten hours maximum) child care for children ages six weeks to five years old during the availabe daily hours of 4:00am to 9:00pm. The y-care school age child care program offers care to children in kindergarten through 5th grade at convenient locations throughout beaver dam. The sites are located at wilson, washington, jefferson, prairie view, and saint katharine drexel grade schools. All sites open at 6:30am and close at 5:45pm. The sites operate for late start days due to inclement weather. The sites do not operate for early dismissal and school close days due to inclement weather. For school close days care is offered at the ymca facility. Year round care is also offered to families at the ymca facility through the school's day out program for most full days off of school. The y-care program annually serves approximately 300 children. Club wannago is a fun and adventurous summer experience with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities focused on developing the participating child. The program is for children entering 1st through 6th grade (ages 6 to 12). The child participates in a variety of staff led activities including active games, arts and crafts, dramatic play, and group challenges. The camp is held at the ymca facility and inculdes weekly swimming and field trips. Club wannago annually serves approximately 50 children. The beaver dam 4 kids program is a community-based kindergarten program for four year old children residing within the beaver dam unified school district or open enrolling into the district. Children are enrolled in the beaver dam unified school district's program but are taught at the ymca. The activity based, developmentally appropriate program is taught by a highly qualified wisconsin department of public instruction licensed kindergarten teacher. The curriculums are guided by the wisconsin model for early learning standards. Approximately 50 children participate in this program annually.
nonrefundable and nontransferable membership dues are received from approximately 7,000 members. Membership benefits include use of the facilities and equipment and reduced rate admissions/fees to events and programs presented by the organization. Through strong collaborations and partnerships across dodge county, the y positively impacts more than 30,000 individuals each year. From actively aging programs to workplace wellness, the y strives to continuously meet the needs of the communities served.
the ymca of dodge county develops and offers youth and adult programs based on the organizations mission which is dedicated to building a healthy spirit, mind, and body. Youth programming promotes positive, healthy development of young people through activities and experiences that address the developmental assets that all children and youth need to obtain social, emotional, physical and cognitive competencies. Whether in youth sports or one of the many other youth programs offered, the organization provides an environment where a youth participating in a ymca youth program can feel safe, have fun, and build trusting relationships. Youth programming annually serves approximately 1000 individuals. Adult programming offers fitness class options and adult oriented sports designed to meet the needs of adults in the dodge county area. The organization believes that excercise, health education, and nutrition are vital components in developing the foundation for personal well being and strong family relationships. By providing a range of health and fitness programs geared around every adult individual and various levels of fitness, a foundation is developed on three core principles of nutrition, health, and fitness to meet the needs of not only the adult individual but the whole family. Adult programming serves approximately 1000 adults annually. The ymca of dodge county supports connections. For a nominal fee community groups, neighborhoods, families and more are able to use some of the facilties of the organization when not serving members.
