Mission: The yellowstone river parks association is an organization that makes the most of the yellowstone river, its banks, and environs for recreation, nature, study, tourism, education, commerce, ecology, and sport. Yellowstone river parks association precipitates, coordinates, and promotes projects and events which open up the beauty and usefulness of the river to all our residents and visitors.
Target demographics: We restore degraded areas to a more natural habitat, and we conserve them for public enjoyment by adding amenities, such as trails, bridges, information kiosks, benches, picnic shelters, toilets, and the like.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2018 we collaborated with other interested parties to purchase 15 acres of strategically-located riverfront property for conservation. We will work with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to develop the parcel into a boat launch and fishing access site that will be open to the public, free of charge. The Montana Audubon Center provided indoor and outdoor classroom activities for thousands of local students. Thousands of people enjoyed the eight parklands that we help develop and maintain.
Geographic areas served: Public spaces along the iconic Yellowstone River in Billings, MT.
Programs: We collaborate with Montana Audubon to provide the state's only conservation education center, Montana Audubon Center, which is on the west side of Riverfront Park.
I am a new volunteer with YRPA. The organization has very dedicated volunteers, who are connected to the community for manpower and funds. The mission is excellent and as followed, will provide the area with a wonderful natural asset for all to enjoy. The organization could use more volunteers, not only for projects, but also to be groomed as future leaders. Our natural lands depend on organizations like this.
Yellowstone River Parks Association does an incredible job of preserving, conserving and protecting the Yellowstone River environment. I feel so very grateful for their presence and work. Whether at Norm's Island, Two Moon or Dover Park, I am always impressed with how much they accomplish! Thank you YRPA for preserving and protecting the many corridors along the Yellowstone river for use by the public!
