Mission: The mission of rockland county association for the learning disabled, inc. (rcald) is to promote, support or operate educational, vocational, medical, social, recreational and residential facilities and research for all individuals who have learning disabilities, neurological impairments,or other developmental disabilities or related handicaps;to educate the general public as to their problems, and to promote the general welfare of such individuals. Through a wide variety of employment, residential, family support and social/recreational programs, rcald promotes essential social and vocational skills that enable people with learning and other developmental disabilities to lead independent, productive and dignified lives. In addition to providing direct services to adoloscents and adults with disabilities, rcald also offers extensive support and education to families, and guidance and training to professionals who are working with people with developmental and learning disabilities.
Programs: Residential services - rcald offers adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live in individual or small-group living arrangements in the community. The residencies provide a homelike atmosphere for individuals with developmental disabilities spanning a broad range, from those who require 24-hour assistance and supervision, to those who need just a few hours of guidance a week.
employment initiative services - rcald offers comprehensive employment training for individuals with disabilities. Through our partnership with participating companies, rcald helps to find employment opportunities suitable for placing our program graduates.
home and community based services - the full range of home and community based services provide training and supports that enhance the lives of people with disabilities and stregthen their family units.
family support services provide in home respite, service coordination, parent support group and a variety of structured recreation activities to entertain, educate and promote individual growth.
