Yad Yehuda is literally RODEF CHESSED - they are obsessed with helping others and are always sure to help in the most gracious manner, but without compromising the decency and respect of the recipients.
I have spoken with the administrators and it is overwhelming to process how thought out they are about considering the needs and the respect of the recipients.
I have been involved as a volunteer with Yad Yehuda for 7 years and continue to be amazed by this incredible nonprofit. Yad Yehuda addresses the challenges of food and financial insecurity across the local community in a variety of ways — all while prioritizing the dignity, confidentiality, and respect of each and every client. Importantly, Yad Yehuda is volunteer-driven and maintains minimal overhead, so that the overwhelming percentage of every dollar donated translates into direct financial aid and or actual food distributed. Yad Yehuda's Pantry is an example of what every Pantry should be: clean, neat, and pleasantly displayed foods; confidential private appointments for patrons; and a broad array of nutritious shelf-stable foods, fresh proteins, and produce. It is my extreme pleasure and honor to serve with the volunteers of this superb nonprofit.
The people who work for and volunteer at Yad Yehuda are very sensitive and treat the patrons with the utmost respect and discretion. It really makes being on the receiving side so much easier to deal with. They are appreciative of every donation and help you can give or gave, and express this in many ways to help you get through the tough times. Yad Yehuda is the epitome of what a Chessed organization should be like.
We have been getting assistance from Yad Yehuda for a few years now. We are having difficulty making ends meet, and the people at Yad Yehuda have helped us numerous times. It is hard to say how we would have been able to make it without their assistance.

I am a volunteer and work behind the scenes. I am very impressed with the work that gets accomplished and the caring, confidential way each patron is approached. There are a number of services offered including weekly opportunities to access a food pantry under their auspices. I am so impressed how this is managed with private appointments, so no one waits in line, or feels stigmatized. The variety of non-perishable food is abundant but what really sets this organization apart, is the fresh, healthy, fruits and vegetables that are provided. The choices go beyond the basics (potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, apples) by always including some items that would not typically be found in the home of those who are food insecure. It changes weekly but I have seen fresh mushrooms, beets, parsnips, asparagus, avocados, nectarines, pears, etc. In addition, there are always eggs and dairy products. Those who run Yad Yehuda emphasize that every family should blend seamlessly in with the community and this is one way they make it happen.

Due to our daughter's medical needs and subsequent costs, our not so great financial situation became more difficult. Yad Yehuda has been there to help us financially, including raising funds to help pay for our older children's weddings, providing a used car when we were desperate, consistent help to offset grocery costs , etc. But more importantly, they care. Their volunteers seem to only take the greatest pleasure in helping you, without making you feel badly about asking for assistance .. They give advice on different matters like saving money on bills, to how to succeed better in finances . They are always working hard to improve their resources and services.
i have volunteered at Yad Yehuda in their Pantry for quite a few years and have seen so many people come in to "shop." Their comments about their ability to have some real food to eat and their looks of amazement and disbelief, as well as relief, are so incredible to witness. So many parents express gratitude that their children now would have something to eat when they come home from school as well as an ability to bring a real snack to school. It truly is inspiring and motivating to do more.
The dedication and devotion of the people who run Yad Yehuda are outstanding and model how an organization can grow and encourage others to do their utmost to help.
Excellent food pantry and clothing closet. The food pantry offers nutritious food - and sometimes has frozen prepared soups. For a breastfeeding mother, that was a lifesaver. Also with having a child, my clothes sized changed and I couldn’t afford new clothes. Yad Yehuda allowed me to pick out new clothes (even undergarments still wrapped in plastic) so that I could have clothes that fit me and look great.
Yad Yehuda is an exceptional organization that has always gone above and beyond to make sure that my family (and the whole community!) is cared for and has what they need - from food, clothing, school supplies, access to community resources and more. I would not have made it through the past few years without their help!
I am both a donor and a volunteer at Yad Yehuda. It's an incredibly impactful organization, helping hundreds of households across the region who have significant financial needs. One of their most notable programs is focused on food insecurity as they have a food pantry for those who cannot afford basic food necessity for themselves and their families. They also have a program to provide food cards to families to buy food each week for Sabbath and holiday meals. By providing a safe place to those in financial distress, more than 500 people are able to receive food and critical assistance each week. The money donated goes directly to help these individuals. It's a remarkably impactful and well run organization!
When my high-status, low-paying job ended abruptly, I did not qualify for public benefits because of the nature of my appointment. Forget the law school loans, I was left wondering what to eat and how to avoid eviction while continuing my search for new work. Yad Yehuda's 100% volunteer staff responded promptly and respectfully to my inquiry, sparing me the further agony of embarrassment. Just knowing I had what to eat right away took enough pressure off to help me focus on my employment applications. Thank you, Yad Yehuda! You are truly doing G-d's work on earth!!
