I've been helping out at Quest for a little over a year now, and it has been an incredible experience. I was looking for a place to volunteer at and I met Judy Atchinson who started the after school program. I was inspired and wanted to help but didnt know how. I dont have experience with inner city children. Judy just said, go play with them, so I did, and have been helping out ever since. We have a blast, playing hide and go seek, dodgeball, tag, or even reading some books together. The children just want to be children and enjoy themselves, and Quest provides a safe, encouraging environment with free meals to help them grow.

Mission: Our mission at Quest is simple - provide a safe, consistent, and free location for Schenectady's most neglected and troubled children. Quest is a community-based organization - we work very personally with the children and their families to provide food and an outlet from the everyday stress that accompanies poverty. Quest provides a safe environment, free meals, counseling, art and recreation programs that keep kids in school, out of trouble and on track for better lives. There are more than 175 Quest kids. We help the children that others turn away. Absolutely nothing at Quest costs any money - every program, meal, and time spent within Quest's walls is free.
