Another active duty military family review: WTW Crew has been an amazing adventure for the entire family. Being a military family that moves every two years, finding a niche in a new school can be frightening, tiresome, difficult, and challenging. WT Woodson was the 8th school my oldest attended, and she was only in the 9th grade. She was able to join crew with no prior experience with the sport or varsity competition (which is a novelty in the NoVA area). She learned about teamwork, responsibility, and time management. Crew improved her confidence; she became incredible leader and athlete. She successfully competed at local, state, and national regattas. My youngest daughter is now a member of the WTW Crew Team. Again, I see her strength, confidence, time management, and responsibility develop and increase as the year progresses. The club serves over 100 coed athletes and does not receive funding from the school; instead we rely on dedicated volunteers to keep the Crew Team operating. The Boosters Association hires and pays coaches, maintain a fleet of shells and launches, and provide financial aid for athletes. This non-profit club gives many diverse students an amazing experience that they would not otherwise be able to experience. Your support of the WT Woodson Crew Team is greatly needed and appreciated.
WTW crew has been an invaluable part of my children's high school careers. My husband is active duty military and we have moved every two years. When our oldest daughter started high school she joined crew with no prior experience with the sport or varsity competition. Crew increased her strength and confidence. She became an incredible athlete and learned about teamwork and responsibility from the demands of crew. My son is now a senior who, with talented teammates and coaches, has competed successfully at local, state and national regattas for the past three years. Our family has volunteered and recruited and raised funds with the team to keep the club strong and solvent. The club serves over 100 coed athletes and does not receive funding from the school. We hire and pay 6-7 coaches, maintain a fleet of shells and launches and also are able to provide financial aid for wonderful athletes. This non profit club gives so many diverse students an amazing, intense athletic experience that they would not otherwise be able to have, I've seen children transformed into leaders, competitive athletes and fiercely loyal teammates. WTW crew is a nonprofit worth supporting.
