Volunteering with World Pediatrics has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. I’ve helped drive children and their families to medical appointments and picked them up from the airport when they arrive in Richmond for treatment. It’s rewarding to be a small part of their journey, knowing that these kids are receiving the care they need thanks to World Pediatrics. The organization is dedicated, and you can see the difference it makes in each family's life.
World Pediatric Project cares deeply about the children they serve and their families. Through their commitment to serving kids with complicated medical issues they have engaged the work of incredible doctors and volunteers who continue to volunteer of their time year after year.
I had the opportunity to volunteer with a child from Belize. WPP is an amazing organization helping so many from infancy to early adulthood. Not only are they helping children seek out medical care they are also capacity building in the regions they work with.
I started volunteering with WPP this year for their US Referral program in Richmond helping out families staying in town for care. The care and dedication that the WPP team has for all this children is heartwarming, and the medical volunteers are out of this world. I hope to continue to volunteer for WPP for many years to come.
I volunteered on WPP's Junior Board for the last two years and enjoyed it immensely. There is a great group of staff and volunteers. Everyone involved brings an infectious energy to helping these children and WPP does a great job reminding us of the core mission, to change children's lives for the better.
I have been supporting World Pediatric Project as both a donor and volunteer for several years. WPP is truly committed to providing the highest quality care possible to the patients, families and partners they serve, always operating professionally, efficiently, and compassionately. Your personal investment, be it time or money, really does go so far with this organization.
Volunteer physician for this organization. They have done an outstanding job in caring for the children of Central America and the Caribbean. I’m especially proud of the scoliosis project that they’ve done, and I am including a photo with several of the children that have been treated for scoliosis.
I have been a volunteer for this non-profit for several years. Not only do I love World Pediatric Projects mission, but I also love the people that work for the organization. The team’s passion and dedication go above and beyond to make this organization successful. I always look forward to my opportunities to volunteer with World Pediatric and enjoy being able to spread their mission and assist in even the smallest of ways. I look forward to volunteering with them for many years to come.
As a former board member, chairman, and long time supporter, I have had the privilege to see the amazing work that this organization does in underdeveloped countries. To date, they have performed over 16,500 surgeries on children that needed specialized surgery that is not available in their countries. These children would have little to no chance to have these life changing procedures, if not for World Pediatric Project, its volunteers, donors and clinical teams.
St Vincent and The Grenadines, is one of 11 countries they serve in the Caribbean and Central America, and I have the privilege to be a citizen of this beautiful country. I witness first hand the miracles that are performed with each team, but also the hope they provide to the entire country. To see lives changed and communities up lifted by the work of this organization, is an example of what can be done if we decide to work together to make a difference.
World Pediatric Project does not stop here, they have developed educational and training programs in pediatric care, including neonatology.
This is a great organization that is firmly grounded in is mission and growing to be able to treat more children. WWW.WORLDPEDIATRICPROJECT.COM
I am proud to have volunteered with World Pediatric Project for many decades ! The triple mission of sending teams down to do surgery ,sending complex cases back up to the states, and teaching the surgeons on the ground to be increasingly more self - sufficient in surgical techniques is exemplary !
WPP does amazing and hard work, which has a tremendous impact on pediatric patients and their families. By providing life altering surgeries and expanding health capabilities in their catchment areas, children are given opportunities that were previously never available to them. These children are then given the chance to flourish and mature as adults.
I have been involved now for several years since being introduced to their mission via a friend. I have witnessed their work firsthand and am in constant awe of their impact. I will continue to support them in the years to come!
How many service organizations are working to fulfill a mission that actually puts them out of business? Not many. World Pediatric Project is one of those and it is why I choose to support them as a donor and as a Board Member. I have been supporting WPP for over 12 years and am proud to be a part of their impact in the countries we serve. You know that your monetary impact will be multiplied given the execution WPP has and the framework they have built over the years. To be a part of a mission to fill the gap of pediatric specialties around the world is rewarding and something far bigger than any one person or country. It truly is a global initiative with intent and focus on one region at a time to ensure we make the most impact and aid in building capacity in each country so that we can move on and allow them to become a part of the global solution to pediatric care.
The International Hospital for Children is a well-run, efficient organization that makes a tangible difference in children’s lives on a daily basis. The organization’s aims are two-fold. IHC brings children to Richmond for critical care treatment that they cannot receive in their home country due to economic or technological reasons. IHC staff and volunteers also spend a lot of time with the families, working hard to ensure their comfort and security in the new environment and also to provide activities for the children in their free time. Last week, for example, the families in Richmond were able to enjoy a soccer game hosting the Richmond Kickers against the Guatemalan national champions. In addition to bringing children to Richmond, IHC sends a number of specialized mission trips each year to six nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. On these surgical mission trips, doctors collaborate with local surgeons and facilities, thus raising the level of health care in hospitals and local communities. With the help of partner NGOs in the region and clinics operated during the surgical mission trips, children in need of more critical care are identified to come to Richmond. As an intern at IHC, I have seen the staff’s dedication and steadfast pursuit of these goals, and am confident that IHC will not only make a difference in hundreds of children’s lives in the near future, but will continue to do so for many years to come.
The famous lines of Margaret Mead- “never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has”- are often quoted to inspire individuals to work for the betterment of society. Never, however, have I observed such strong evidence of the veracity of this quotation as in the International Hospital for Children. The professional staff of ten, with the help of volunteers, is able to coordinate hundreds of life altering surgeries for disadvantaged children in the Latin American and Caribbean regions. Additionally, IHC works to build sustainable programs within these regions, giving countries the infrastructure necessary to meet the health care needs of their populations independently. I have personally witnessed these changes while serving as an intern at IHC. I have taken patients to their surgeries in Richmond and watched, as they have evolved from shy children to gregarious and friendly young people with a brand new outlook on life. IHC gives these children a chance at a normal life, something they could only dream of before. In furthering the mission of providing all children across the globe with access to critical health care, IHC serves as a testament to the fact that a small, motivated group of people can initiate big changes in the world.
What a fantastic organization! All year long they send surgical missions to their six partner countries (Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Dominican Republic, Guyana, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines). During these missions, they not only perform surgeries, but they also teach local medical professionals so that the local doctors can make a difference in their countries. From these surgical missions, they encounter children who need very complicated surgeries that cannot be sustained by the local infrastructure. So, those children come to Richmond! The children really are at the heart of this small, but very powerful organization. Everyone works very hard to ensure that the visiting families feel as comfortable as possible in Richmond and that their surgeries go smoothly.
IHC is a small organization with large accomplishments. The staff of about ten professionals are innovative and genuine in coordinating the medical treatment of children in Latin, Central America, and The Caribbean. Children unable to recieve treatment at home are brought to Richmond, where they are made to feel at home. Volunteers and interns facilitate social and educational activities that promote IHC families' holistic well-being. This organization is committed to empowering families and communities, and does so with passion and efficiency. IHC is a permanent, sustainable solution to the health disparities in developing countries.
This organisation is stunning. Bringing together a highly motivated, highly-qualified staff team working from tightly managed budgets with expert volunteer medical teams to provide critical pediatric care to kids while building local capacity in key countries. Leveraging donor dollars with volunteered medical resources, the International Hospital for Children's awesome team delivers phenomenal care from the donated dollars. Pragmatic, human, committed. A tremendous philanthropic investment.
