As Chief Scientific Adviser for an International Farm Animal welfare and Environment organisation (https://www.ciwf.org.uk/) I cannot speak more highly of World Animal Net, based upon personal experience of working with them on animal welfare matters in a number of fora, including at the UN .
They more than live up to their stated mission and positively influence the welfare of animals though their work and by advising and influencing the organisations they work with, the resources they provide and intelligence and information they share.
Their staff are utterly dedicated and achieve a huge amount in a fiscally frugal manner, amplifying influence relative to income.

My own organization has worked closely with World Animal Net for many years. I have collaborated especially closely with World Animal Net via the U.N. NGO Major Group's Animal Issues Thematic Cluster, which WAN co-founded as a vehicle to engage animal protection organizations in influencing international policy. Thanks to WAN, many animal protection NGOs have been empowered with a voice in the United Nations, and government officials and policy makers the world over have been made aware of animals' importance to sustainable development. This is in addition to WAN's other long-running programs, including its pioneering work in the field of animal law, and database of greatly helpful information on tens of thousands of organizations worldwide. With very limited budget and personnel, World Animal Net continues to achieve phenomenal good for animals, standing out as one of the most impactful organizations I know of in the field of animal protection.

This is a great organization that does work that is very important but rarely attracts the attention it deserves helping large numbers of animals by protecting them through campaigning and coordinating coalitions of experts in animal welfare, animal protection, environmental protection and conservation.

WAN has a unique lens of looking at the big picture view of animals in the world and what can be done to assist them locally. The team at WAN are very professional and truly passionate about their cause.

An amazing organization with incredibly committed and qualified staff. World Animal Net fills a gap in the animal protection movement and provides a platform for animal protection organizations to collaborate and share expertise, making the movement stronger and more effective in the process. It is such a pleasure to work with WAN and witness firsthand the passion and dedication they pour into their work, fighting for the welfare of animals worldwide. I have also seen how transparent, open and kind each and every person on the team is. World Animal Net is truly a gem of an organization in the field!

I have been privileged to have been on the board of World Animal Net (WAN) since its inception, and have seen it grow in terms of programs, talent and credibility. WAN helps to provide research, expertise and a coordination platform to support animal protection advocacy in international and regional policy. Working on a small budget, WAN punches far above its weight - thanks to brilliant and dedicated staff, experienced and committed fellow board members, and the support of the animal protection community. We now hold the secretariat of the International Coalition for Animal Welfare (ICFAW) and are an Organisational Partner for the Animal Interest Thematic Cluster of the UN Major Group, as well as having our own International Policy Forum.

I have been a trustee with WAN since its inception, and am proud of the way it has developed progressively, whilst always keeping in mind its original purpose of being a source of information, support and coalition building for other animal protection organisations. It has opened up new and important international policy opportunities for animal protection, which will make an immense difference to the lives of billions of animals over the longer term.

I never cease to be impressed by the powerful output of World Animal Net in their advocacy for the protection of animals. Their commitment to including animal welfare in development and sustainability, and their research, information and educational literature.
Their ground breaking Model Animal Welfare Act fills a huge void in the pursuit of countries and societies waking up to the need to pay much needed attention to the protection of animals in policy, legislation and implementation.
Thank you WAN, on behalf of all of those who do not have the voice to put their case themselves in this human centric driven society!

Our organization benefited a lot from World Animal Net's experience and expertise in the past year. As newcomers in several UN forums, we were pleased to exchange regularly with WAN and were able to strengthen our common impact by working together on several projects, from side events to more technical documents. WAN helped us navigating the UN by sharing access, knowledge and introducing us to many stakeholders from civil society to UN agencies staff.
We still use some of WAN's excellent documents on capacity building and advocacy at the UN and look forward to working together again in the next months.

World Animal Net's (WAN's) Model Animal Welfare Act (MAWA) is an incredible resource for those interested in enacting new legislation or improving existing animal protection legislation. This is especially true for countries where animal protection laws are new and here the MAWA guidelines are incredibly valuable. The MAWA is now considered the “gold standard” for animal welfare law.
I have a great experience of working closely with WAN on international policy work. They are generous and cooperative partners who always work with passion, integrity and devotion. WAN is doing pioneering work for animals at the United Nations and World Bank. concerning animal welfare and animal protection.

Its advices, free training courses and contacts, helped us understand where were the real challenges of Animal Welfare. WAD is giving us a more professional, innovative and realistic vision. There is not a single animal welfare organisation that is more service orientated (to non-human animals) than World Animal Net. They not only encourage countries - around the globe - to implement proper welfare legislation, but they encourage and assist the smallest organisation, and even the 'smallest' person who is prepared to fight for a better future for animals. There is simply no-one who cares more, or are more dedicated to animals than their co-founder - Janice Cox - and nobody more informed either! Thank you for who and what you are, and the incredible work you do Janice and World Animal Net! Nikki Elliott (animal activist).

As founder of the recently registered Non Profit Company, United Front 4 Animals, it felt like we found a home and life-long soul mate (at last), when I "discovered" World Animal Net. Their guidance, practical and user-friendly information on all aspects of animal welfare and advocacy, and their educational courses provide nothing short of a guaranteed road to success for any organisation - new or established - in the challenging environment of animal welfare and lobbying at the highest levels. Their extensive experience, unwavering commitment to develop the animal welfare movement, individual organizations, coalitions and alliances PLUS their consultative status at the United Nations makes them unique and affiliation compulsory for any serious advocacy and/or activist organisation. Animal protection is now a growing concern, and co-ordinating expert organisations such as WAN are much needed.

I am Chief Policy Advisor for Compassion in World Farming. World Animal Net (WAN) does a first rate job in advancing animal welfare and in creating greater awareness of the detrimental impact on the environment, biodiversity, climate change and human health of industrial livestock production. WAN is playing a leading part in the work by the World Bank and other global bodies to develop guidance on good standards of farm animal welfare. It is also bringing together a number of bodies who are working on the UN Environment Assembly meeting in Nairobi in March 2019 which will focus on sustainable consumption and production including sustainable food systems. World Animal Net are an incredibly strong organisation filled with passionate advocates with expertise to help protect and care for animals worldwide. We have worked regularly with them at the global governance level, helping to create a legislative environment where decision makers enact supportive policies that increase the welfare and protection of animals, which in turn helps curb our carbon emissions and the harm we are doing to our biodiversity systems.

Working on behalf of animals in developing countries – usually with little or no resources – can be extremely challenging and lonesome endeavor. WAN is aware of that, as some of their experienced staff were 'in our boots' in their early career. That is a good reason why they are so genuinely committed in helping those in the field.

We are (so) grateful to count on WAN support.

Generosity. In a single word, that´s what WAN means to me.
By sharing their expertise and qualified information they not only help but also allow us to maximize scarce resources. WAN was created by experienced people that know exactly how challenging working for the animals in developing nations can be. The same motivation applies to their team of professionals, genuinely dedicated in organizing data, forums and high level directories.

I was privileged to work with two WAN founders, and now feel lucky to benefit from their competence and humanity.
Thank you very much WAN team - Thank you Janice and Wim!

I came across WAN when I was looking for an animal protection organize to do volunteer work for. It has been a privilege to help on some of their projects. WAN has developed a comprehensive model animal welfare act to help counties world wide pass animal protection laws. They work hard to reach far and wide to help organizations coordinate efforts on behalf of animal welfare. They are an amazing organization to for work for and it is exciting to think of the future projects in which they will have a hand (and hopefully I can help with).

I had the great honour and pleasure to co-author with Janice Cox for the World Animal Net (WAN) team the Model Animal Welfare Act (MAWA) which is a template and guidance document for those interested in enacting new legislation or improving existing animal protection legislation. This was drafted using an extensive comparative law exercise, and took over three years to complete. It was very gratifying to work with WAN on this exciting and challenging project as they always act with complete commitment, dedication and meticulous attention to detail. The MAWA is now considered the “gold standard” for animal welfare law, and I am more than pleased to have played a role in this project.

At the same time, I also follow and support WAN’s international policy work, and find this strategic and inspired. It never ceases to impress me how with unmitigated integrity and devotion they pursue their mission and are able to make such an impact at the highest levels – such as the United Nations and World Bank. They are also extremely collaborative in their work, freely sharing their time, skills and expertise with other animal protection organisations. They are passionate, sincere and focused on profound reform and long term change by sensitizing the public, creating awareness as well as offering a platform of knowledge and inspiration for all issues concerning animal welfare and animal protection.

World Animal Net (WAN) is an experienced and insightful leader in the animal welfare movement. Finding a path that leads to impactful change is a major challenge in our work, but WAN is able to influence even the most entrenched international institutions that are notoriously difficult to move. Personally, I have learned so much working along side Janice Cox over the past couple of years through The International Coalition for Animal Welfare. She was instrumental in bringing together a diversity of NGO animal protection groups to prepare and coordinate for key events held by the OIE (World Organization for Animal Health). She was the brains behind our presentation theme, our pre-conference meetings, and all of our background reports. Largely due to her preparations and guidance, we were able to steer the discussions, challenge prevailing attitudes, and vastly improve the resolutions and key documents at one of the most important OIE events held to date. I am extremely grateful to have the chance to collaborate with Janice and the other amazing (largely volunteer!) staff at WAN.

I have worked with Janice Cox for many years, and I also met Wim De Kok when I was in London in 2007. I was in UK for a month to talk to animal welfare orgs about the awful canned lion hunting industry, and particularly the link with cub petting.
Janice arranged some of the presentations with large influential orgs like WSPA, hosted my accommodation and even drove me to venues in London.
In the end I gave 31 presentations in 31 days before we flew back to SA together.
I could not have had a successful tour without her commitment and support.
I used their Directory of AW orgs all the time and WAN is our go-to resource whenever we are working on matters of policy.
WAN is a unique and wonderful resource available for all serious animal advocates

World Animal Net is the single most well-informed and educational resource there is worldwide. Whether you are looking for education modules for humane education programs, information on the status of animal welfare in countries around the world or working towards bringing in animal welfare legislation in your own country, this is the go-to resource.

As a Canadian animal welfare organization whose mission is to act as a placeholder for key information regarding our country's antiquated and redundant animal cruelty legislation, we have found World Animal Net to be an absolutely invaluable resource. We urge anyone as a single individual and/or a small or large animal welfare organization to sign up for their newsletters and support World Animal Net in all they do. Canadians for Animal Welfare Reform truly appreciates their work and presence and has used so much of their guidance and information in our work in Canada.
