We have participated in distribution of mobility aids including wheel chairs, walkers, crutches and canes three times in the last four years in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We were very impressed with the organization and the leadership displayed by Richard St. Dennis and his staff. It is a life changing experience to participate in providing mobility aids to the poor, disabled and neglected in Mexico. The receipt of a mobility aid has great impact on the client and the caregiver allowing them to participate more fully in their community. Further, World Access Project employs individuals with disabilities giving them an opportunity to excel in a skill and demonstrating to new recipients that the mobility aid can and will change their future. World Access Project takes great care in providing the appropriate aid for the individual and instruction on the use and care of the aid. The organization is client centred and managed very professionally.
I have volunteered for World Access Project to distribute wheelchairs, crutches, canes and walkers to the disabled in Mexico several times. My first trip from my hometown in Seattle was to their distribution center in Puerto Vallarta, and I have been hooked ever since. I was so impressed by the organization, its people and the impact it made on me, that I decided to expose my daughters (10 and 14 at the time) to the experience. We are going in July 2013 to Atlacomulco, Mexico, and it will be our fourth trip. The week spent distributing mobility equipment to the poor, disabled and neglected in Mexico is truly life changing. My daughters and I have been enriched not only by the gratitude expressed by those we help, but also by the spirit of those who run World Access Project. I will forever be grateful to Richard St. Denis and his organization for their selfless hearts, and for the impact they have made on our lives. It is no wonder he was voted top 10 CNN Hero in 2011. For anyone looking to pay it forward, I highly recommend supporting World Access Project!
