My roommate introduced me to work and learn 2018 Back then we met in a room at a church. With Covid and play it is being done differently now is online. I had a pleasure of Pastor Al, Dan and Polly His wife, Robert, and Hanns all came together and shown Me the process of work and learn And the greatness of God. They had pastors, mentors and a lot of other great people come together two teach us Valuable lessons each week that lined up with the work and learn workbook Weekly lessons. Back then I was struggling and they Continuously showered me with their love and the love of God. I did not look forward too much but I will forward to Tuesday’s work and learn classes . To me that was the best part of my week. I graduated from the class and I had never gotten so proud. Recently I met up with my friend who brought up the work and learn program and I got excited to know that they are still doing it online. I am doing better now I would like to reconnect and take the course again. There is so much to learn from the workbook and the people that come together to make work and learn happen . I look forward to taking a course again. I highy recommend everybody does take the course Regardless where are you might be in your life right now the corse will put you on the right path to help you put your life back together. I started off broken lost in my life then I found out about work and learn and took the course. A life changer for me . all of a sudden I found myself experiencing God at a deep level And went on to finding a full-time job with great growth potential in the company. . I never knew living for God’s glory could give me so much joy in my life. I believe in work & learn course so much that I took it two times . I also had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people while taking the course. The people that have Dedicated their life in keeping work and learn up and running are nothing short of amazing in their dedication to God and his glory. As a volunteer, I found W&L to be a very unique program, combining Biblical values and career development skills to serve those in need of and/or interested in making positive changes and improvements in their life. My personal experience with W&L was with the 12-week course. The volunteers associated with the course were genuine and experienced offering participants personalized attention. The leadership continues to make improvements to the program and in expanding its reach. I highly recommend.

I signed up for the Work & Learn course because I was looking to get involved in the nonprofit sector and career coaching is something that I am interested in doing. It was a good course and the volunteers are passionate about what they do. I appreciated the way the sessions were structured and I benefited from the mock interview and from feedback on my resume.
I volunteer at W&L as a career mentor, career class and small group discussion moderator/leader. The volunteers at W&L are very dedicated, able and nice. The degree to which the linked biblical values/career development lessons at W&L can change the course of individuals confronted with various employment challenges and personal life crises is quite impressive to me. While participants come out of the W&L program with a firmer understanding of the skills and values God has blessed them with to be great employees, they also gain a deeper knowledge of critical career development topics such as resume development, interview preparation, networking and informational interviewing, and job search planning just to name a few. I highly recommend this program to anyone dealing with a lack of traction in the job market or anyone contemplating a major career switch.

In 2016 I relapsed from alcohol after being sober for twenty years. It was a trying time for me and my family. In July of 2016 I entered into detox for 30 days and then moved into the Hope House for women in Groton CT. There I was introduced to Dan and Polly of Work & Learn. I wasn't sure what to expect from this program, but once I participated, I was glad that I did. What I enjoyed most is that it's a faith-based program with biblical value, along with a career skill, presented and then discussed in a small group setting. Also, each participant has the opportunity to have both a mentor and a career coach. The Work & Learn program helped reinforce my biblical values and upgrade my career skills. After graduating from the program, I decided to go to college, something I always wanted but wasn't able to do. Work & Learn helps people transform their lives through biblical values and career skills. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a fresh start or redirecting their life for a better future.

I had relocated to New London in November 2016 for numerous reasons. I had been out of work for 5 years and felt lost at which direction I was headed. I learned of Work and Learn from my sisters at a shelter I was staying at. I attended classed in Spring of 2017, happily maintaining perfect attendance because I didn't want to miss anything Work and Learn had to offer. The classes aligned my diligence at work for God's glory, not mine nor my supervisor's. I stay hungry for God's word and stay balanced when I stay in His word.
Work and Learn continues to be a resource and support for me and my family. I recommend these classes to all who are lost and found. The classes helped me to focus and use every moment at work to glorify how good God is. This mindset has kept me employed, promotions and job offers keep coming. I relay the same values of working for our Heavenly Father's glory with my son, who also is thriving in school.

My initial response when I heard about the class was that I didn’t really need it. I figured I had a resume, I had a job and I had already been through vocational classes in the past. However, when I heard about the Biblical aspect, I decided I wanted to learn. God definitely has a “Magical” way of putting me where I need to be. Unlike other vocational programs, Work and Learn also emphasizes the fundamental values of being a good employee and teaches Christian principles, concerning employment. These include attitude, integrity, obedience and how to work as if working for Christ. While the class also teaches the skills to find work, it is not only about finding a job, but learning what your purpose is and creating a mission. I learned “How to take God to work” and the importance of using my gifts to serve God. Also, unlike other vocational programs Work and Learn encompasses mentors from various professional backgrounds, who are able to give hands on learning throughout the course of the class. Practically, I learned how to proceed with my resume, overcoming the gaps and discrepancies, budgeting and the importance of being trustworthy with what God gives me, interviewing and how to discuss sensitive matters, public speaking and how to articulate what I am trying to convey and what employers are looking for (Why should I hire you?). Overall, Work and Learn has enhanced my career skills, increased my faith and helped me recognize the areas of my life that I needed to invite God into.
My name is Charles Gibson I am a graduate of the 2018 work& learn Bible based non-profit organization. This class has change the way I search for jobs, and how I prepare for interviews, I now have confidence to have a more successful and productive, interview. I now will apply for jobs I want and not just settle for anything, it gave me the boldness I was lacking. And also the classes are Bible based so at the same time it helped in my Bible Study, what a bonus. I learned how to do a good resume, and cover letter. This is a great class, and did I mention it's free!! I encourage anyone trying to better their financial status, and spirituality this class is for You.
I heard about Work & Learn Inc and the work they do. I wanted to help as a volunteer & joined the team. However, as I started attending these classes the impact these lessons made ensured that I turned the table around and became a participant myself. I am really glad that there is an organization that works in this domain & would be a part of this good work in the years to come.
I found the course very valuable to me and helped making some corrections in my career life. I will keep these valuable learning handy and keep practicing until one day it becomes "an effective" habit.

This program is free to anyone seeking employment or trying to change employment or just trying to be a better employee. It combines Christian values with practical applications such as resume writing, speaking, and determining goals and talents. There are experts available in different fields such as finances and businesses as well as mentors and pastors to help with the different situations people find themselves in. The program seeks to build confidence, assist with job seeking, helps an individual to set weekly goals as well as encouraging and defining how to be a valuable employee. It is particularly impressive in the fact that a graduation ceremony is held and a certificate received. This course would enhance anyone's work ethics, stability and self worth.
Work and learn has been a trustworthy experience that has not only prepared me for my future but given me new ways to increase my faith! I already had a job coming into it but I wanted to check what the hype was about. To my surprise the program smashed all expectations with joy. Having a practical side of things along with a biblical side of each lecture I believe Work and Learn brings hope back in work force for young and older.

This is my first year participating in the Work & Learn Inc. program. I am very impressed by the opportunity the program provides. It has a comprehensive curriculum that effectively delineates solid work ethics, attitudes and values and includes practical exercises to develop job seeking skills. The program exposes participants to local churches by having pastors instruct on specific work related bible based topics. Also, local business professionals present topics such as defining ones aptitudes and talents , resume preparation, and public speaking to prepare for the interview process. Overall the 12 week program presents an excellent opportunity for a person to be equipped and prepared for a new start on a career and life.
Work and Learn in New London, CT brings people who need jobs and people who have experience in all aspects of employment together. The volunteer mentors get as much out of the 12-week course as the rest of the people.
It is important to know that the course is NOT just for people who are religious! Everyone is welcome, whether they attend any church or not. People who do not believe in God will find the course helpful, too.
It was interesting to hear the various religious leaders tell us their understanding of the Bible passages, and how specific verses applied to different work situations. Food for thought for each of us!
Every week there was at least one expert in some aspect of getting and keeping a job. Some people taught us how to decide which career might be best for us; writing resumes was covered by an HR manager; a representative from Toastmasters helped us feel more comfortable talking in public.
Many of us made friendships that will last long after we stop seeing each other at Work and Learn. We learned not only the course material, but also about ourselves and our neighbors.
The most amazing part of Work and Learn is that everything is FREE! All that is required is interest in getting a job (or better job) and the willingness to keep an open mind.
Work & Learn helps everyone who participates: Those who want to get jobs (or better jobs) and the volunteers who mentor the other participants. It is hard to believe that Work & Learn is completely _free_! Each session of the twelve-week course is divided into two parts: Discussion of biblical principles affecting the worker and work environment (lead by a local pastor); Practical training in resume writing, interview skills, etc. (lead by a HR or business professional). Everyone is welcome, no matter what their spiritual path (or none)!

I just received my certificate for completing the Work and Learn classes in New London CT. Work and Learn taught me different career soft skills while infusing faith based biblical standards. The class helped me sharpen my skills with public speaking by coaching me to give my 2 minute elevator pitch. I enjoyed listening to speakers from different churches and organizations. We were able to build our career development skills while practicing what matters most in the work environment such as showing integrity and resolving conflicts. I strongly advise people to take this class because you will learn more what you would expect!
Work & Learn is a Bible-centered, faith-based 12-week program that helps it's participants gain vital life and work-related skills to help them secure employment more effectively. It is 100% volunteer run and there is no cost for students to participate - it is FREE with no strings attached. I have been a board member for several years and a volunteer mentor prior to that.
If you live in the greater New London or Norwich area and are looking to better your chances at finding employment or more fulfilling work, I would highly recommend this class.
I participated in the Work & Learn Workshop in Norwich, Ct. I was an Instructor, Mentor and Participant. It is a two part workshop where vital information is taught to help those who are currently searching for jobs/careers or already working to help sharpen their skills in addition to the emphasis on how the Bible tells us we should conduct ourselves in the working environment. Excellent workshop that is well worth the time.
