Mission: The mission of word of life international, inc. (wol) is to sustain lives and empower communities by providing short and long term services that foster stable and independent lives. Wol is located in the bronx, new york and currently runs many programs that serve the south bronx community and its surrounding neighborhoods. Wol provides services such as: feed the community food program, senior wellness program, fitness classes, emergency clothing bank, youth enrichment mentorship program, after school and college prep program, homeless services, housing assistance and counseling, food stamp/wic referral outreach, sweat equity/community service program, job screening and referral, hiv/aids/hepatitis outreach/substance abuse referrals, health insurance education, immigration services, nutrition training and blood pressure monitoring program.
Programs: Fight hunger in bronx nyc by operating a community food pantry that provides free emergency food; nutrition education; and community service opportunities. Program services still limited at its new location due to construction and pending legal issues with landlord
word of life provides nutrition education to 25-30 clients bi-monthly. Participants are taught to prepare nutritional meals, shop intelligently, participate in farmers' market program and adopt healthy life styles.
word of life runs a youth enrichment program that provides youth from middle school to colleges the opportunity to engage in community service. This program is aimed at developing leadership skills in them and support youth to spend their out of school time to impact community.
