Woodland Park Zoo sets the highest of standards for animal care, educates thousands of community members each year contributes millions towards conservation efforts in the wild, both through in-kind contributions of expertise and through direct funding. This zoo, along with other zoos, has unfortunately become the target of a small group of vocal animal rights extremists. Those doing research about Woodland Park Zoo are encouraged to visit the zoo and make up your own mind.

Woodland Park Zoo has been crticized for its elephant program over the past 7 years. The space is too small, the elephants all display neurotic stereotypical behaviors, the climate forces the elephants to be locked up for an inhumane amount of time, the elephants are incompatible. Please give to organizations that truly help elephants in the wild. http://seattletimes.com/html/nationworld/2019809167_elephants02m.html
