Mission: The women's resource center of racine provides crisis intervention, advocacy, education, and prevention services for a diverse population of victims or individuals at risk of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault by promoting positive changes for individuals served and the broader community in racine county.
Programs: The women's resource center of racine served about 300 women and children in its domestic violence emergency shelter this year for a total of approximately 6,000 nights of care. Basic needs, including food, clothing, medications, and toiletries, were supplied to all. In addition, another 1,000 women, children, and men were served through community-based counseling and advocacy programs. Basic criteria for services is to be in a domestic violence or sexually-assaultive situation with a need for safety services that may include shelter. The hand to hand program provided 60 families with safe exchange and supervised visitation services. These services may have been court ordered although some are provided as voluntarily requested.
