I was introduced to the Women's Odyssey in 1987 as a young female college student with only 30 days of sobriety. I attended 12 step meetings there. The homelike environment and structure that was provided to the female residents of the program, influenced me through my early recovery, when I was far away from home. I personally know dozens of women, who now have long term sobriety, after having gone thru the social model recovery program at the home, or attending 12 step meetings. I do not think any long term impact study has ever been done for results, as the program is privately funded, and the resources scarce. I often wonder what the metric of value is for each recovered person not getting dui's, causing alcohol-related accidents, breaking the law, homeless, or incarcerated. This home helped to save my life. With support for continued operations, I am sure it can continue to save many more.
