Mission: The women's center is an agency that exists to provide confidential services to prevent or lessen the trauma associated with domestic violence, sexual assault and other major life transitions.
Programs: Domestic violence services: during the past fiscal year, a total of 26,817 residents from our area communities recieved the free and confidential services provided through our domestic violence, sexual assault, and resource services programs. The elizabeth house, our shelter for women and children fleeing from the imminent danger of violence in their homes, offered the safety and support needed in their time of crisis. During their stay shelter residents received counseling, advocacy, and assistance with rebuilding their lives and planning a future that is violence-free.

Specifically, certified direct service staff and volunteers provided the critically needed intervention, support, and counseling to adults and children both in person and via the hotlines. Individual and support group sessions offered by our counselors are based on an empowerment model and provide adult and child clients with the appropriate therapeutic setting in which to safely address their issues.

Our family violence victim advocate, house at danbury superior court, provided daily outreach and assistance to all individuals involved in domestic violence arrests.
