Mission: Women's Animal Center is dedicated to the humane and compassionate treatment of animals. As America’s First Animal Shelter founded in 1869, we are committed to protecting the interests of animals and offering a continuum of care to ensure that all animals are treated humanely with kindness and respect. Women's Animal Center serves communities in Bucks County, Pa and the Greater Philadelphia region by providing safe shelter, nutritious meals, enrichment, medical and compassionate care to surrendered and stray animals, offering community programming including a Story Tails Reading Program, pet food pantry for families in need, dog training to foster the animal-human bond, humane education programs, a full service veterinary hospital to treat family owned pets and an adoption program to unite pets and people into loving forever homes.
Results: Founded in 1869 as America's First Animal Shelter™ we have remained steadfast in our commitment to saving lives inside and outside the walls of our animal shelter. We have worked tirelessly to replace cruelty with safe shelter, new loving forever homes, and improve the well-being of thousands of animals and their human companions.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Veterinary Hospital: • 13,186 family pets treated in our veterinary hospital • 2,217 animals spayed or neutered to prevent pet overpopulation • 2,770 animals underwent life enhancing or lifesaving surgeries • 8,762 preventive and lifesaving vaccines administered to keep our community’s pets healthy Animal Shelter: • 608 animals spayed or neutered • 4,676 preventive and lifesaving vaccines administered Pet Adoptions and Services: • 892 Shelter Animals Adopted into New Homes • 60 Shelter Animals Transferred to Our Rescue Partners • 144 Lost Cats and Dogs Reunited with Their Families • 120 Trap-Neuter-Returns to Humanely Control Our Community's Feral Cat Population
