I have been involved with WoWE since the very first luncheon in 2005, and now even more active than ever at both the National and Chicago Chapter levels. WoWE combines two of my most passionate interests, increasing the awareness of the great benefits of wind energy as well as growing the presence of women in leadership positions.

I have been involved with the WoWE Chicago Chapter since 2008 and really enjoyed seeing the chapter grow over the past years with events and new ideas. Upon starting, it had not been as active and I'm really impressed with the teamwork and drive of all the members that has resulted in a lot of exciting activity of this local chapter. WoWE has a nice mix of events that are social and networking, but also events that are useful for business like informative sessions, panel discussions, and creative ideas for member events.

I just joined WoWE this year, and have been very happy with the support and knowledge I have been able to gain throughout. The events they have are meaningful, and they strive to give women a bigger voice in a more typically male-dominated field.

Life-changing is the right word. I am happy this organization is here to encourage more women to come and stay in this field. Wish there were more like it in other energy fields.

Women of Wind Energy (WOWE) does important work in the energy industry. It is professionally run and I am regularly inspired by the commitment and engagement of the membership. WOWE's programs include a mentoring program, a leadership forum and other educational activities, networking opportunities, and fellowships for attendence at industry conferences.

I have had a great experience participating in the Planning Committee of the Portland Chapter of Women of Wind Energy (WoWE). Throughout the time that I have been involved, WoWE has offered opportunities to network with others in the renewable energy industry, learn about hot topics during panel luncheons, cosponsor joint nonprofit events, and celebrate the Portland Chapter's 5th Anniversary. It's been very rewarding to be a part of the group and these events. I look forward to working with WoWE in 2013 to continue to promote women in the renewable energy industry.

Every time I work with WOWE I learn something new and connect to a broader audience. The group is very professional and encourages women to strive in a very tough industry. Kristen, the Executive Director goes out of her way to promote new methods of outreach and constantly builds new relationships to further the direction of WOWE.

I have had an excellent experience with Women of Wind Energy. They are a forward-thinking group looking for innovative ways to connect leaders in the wind industry. Breaching geographical boundaries, the organization uses robust virtual resources to keep its members connected. I was fortunate enough to establish a great relationship with a mentor through their program that has lasted well beyond the parameters and structure of the program. I'm very invested in this group and definitely see it as one of the best run organizations of its kind.

In an industry that is dominated by males, it is amazing that a group of professional women involved in the wind industry could even have a quorum. Women of Wind Energy provides a forum for now thousands of us to share information, ideas, experiences, and leadership skills with others, both locally and nationally. All while having a good time!

As a woman in the renewable energy field, specifically the wind industry since the 90's I have not found a more like-minded and supporitve group of women like I have with WoWE. I am very honored to be a member of this group as well as a mentor to young women in science!

I have been involved with the Women of Wind Energy ("WoWE") organization for several years now. During that time I have had the opportunity to participate in the annual Leadership Forum for the past 2 years and look forward to attending the forum again this November. The focus of the organization is to promote education and professional development for women working in the wind industry in order to promote a strong diversified workplace and to support a growing renewable energy economy. The Leadership Forums, along with the activities of the local chapters have provided significant and meaningful opportunties to network, learn, become inspired and grow as a professional in an exciting and changing industry. The Executive Director, Kristen Graf, along with the steering committee for WoWE have been incredibly instrumental in growing the organization and connecting women (and men) across the country and through those connections, have empowered women in the workplace. Keep up the good work!

Women of Wind Energy (WOWE) is an organization that promotes, educates, mentors and help women grow in the renewable energy industry. It is also an organization that lifts and bolsters the spirit of working women. I'm very proud to be a member of this worthwhile organization.

Women of Wind Energy fills a unique role in an industry that has typically been male-dominated. By highlighting and supporting the roles and achievements of women, the organization brings a valuable perspective. Unexpectedly there are a large number of men who proudly identify themselves as MWoWE members - Men of Women of Wind Energy.

WOWE is a great organization! I have met so many talented women through it. It has definitely been life changing for me. I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship through them to attend the AWEA conference, and from that was offered several positions right out of college. They have continued to inspire me.

I like that this nonprofit sponsors women to attend the Annual American Wind Energy Association conference because I think it is a direct way to inject women into the industry as most end up with a job offer or two after attending the conference.

Women of Wind Energy was founded just seven years ago by a few women in the U.S. wind power field who recognized the need to raise awareness around the scarcity of females employed within the industry. Word of WoWE spread quickly when the first luncheon hosted 160 people, and since then has evolved into thousands of women and men alike (with a large majority being volunteers) expressing their voice in support of this worthwhile organization. Today, WoWE has over 30 chapters across the U.S. and Canada, with more than 2,000 people directly involved or supporting it from as far away as Europe. The impact WoWE has made in and outside the wind power industry is already immeasurable through its fellowships, mentoring program, annual Leadership Forum, awards luncheon and various other programs. WoWe truly lives its mission of promoting the education, professional development, and advancement of women in order to achieve a strong diversified workforce and support a robust renewable energy economy. Being involved with WoWE for the last seven years has been one of my proudest activities in life.

WoWE is a non-profit that is rooted in industry and seeks to grow diversity and success through the support of women in the renewable power sector in North America. After first interacting with the organization 5 years ago and experiencing the positivity of networking and mentoring, I was inspired to start a Canadian chapter and have also now launched a Toronto Chapter of WoWE. We provide women and their supporters with the opportunity to learn through professional development field trips, to network and share stories, and have fun!

Volunteering with WoWE has been a fantastic experience. Not only have I learned a great deal about wind energy (and the 'renewable energy' industry) in general, I've also had the chance to build a support network of women to help guide me in my career. WoWE is doing important work to help encourage equal opportunity for women but also in promoting a technology that has a positive impact on our energy future.

WoWE is an exceptional organization focused on facilitating the entry of women into the wind industry. Thankfully, the organization also encourages men to serve as mentors so that they too can serve a role in expanding the diversity and health of the industry.

WoWE is an incredible organization doing very important work. To reach a sustainable energy future, we need to increase the number of educated workers with the skill sets to propel clean energy technologies forward. Excluding or limiting over 50% of our workforce because of their gender limits progress towards a clean energy future. WoWE provides great opportunities and support for women in the field of wind energy - a traditionally male-dominated field.

As a woman in a male dominated career I feel empowered by this organization. I am a wind engineer and the only woman on my 4 person team. I enjoy interacting with the women in this organization and receiveing tips and tricks about how to shine in my group.

As an educator in this very male-dominated field, it is encouraging to see a Woman's organization dedicated to the industry. They not only have a social structure for employees, they work with young women to encourage STEM studies and knowledge. This organization is helping to increase diversity in the industry.

WoWE is a fantastic organization that promotes women in the wind industry, as well as inspiring young women to be involved in STEM fields. Members range from turbine techs and construction workers to scientists and consultants to executives at some of the top energy companies in the world. I am most proud of the Mentoring Program that the group hosts for young to mid-career women and the connection with KidWind, which teaches elementary school aged kids about the positive benefits of renewable energy.
