My connection to the WIT (Women in Tech) organization is through my professional role in banking. WIT is committed to ensuring their mission "From the classroom to the boardroom" is lived out every day. Women in Tech seeks to ensure ladies of all ages are supported and encouraged in STEAM career roles. WIT provides spaces where young girls and women of all ages can see themselves reflected in powerful narratives, learn from women leading in STEAM fields through regularly occurring breakfast speaker series, evening networking events, and a yearly gala where stories of courage, innovation, and determination are shared. This organization is working hard to help shape an exciting future for Women in Technology!
Women in Technology (WIT) is an incredible organization for the Atlanta technology community. I have been a member, advocate and advisor for over a decade. It is a tremendous feeling to watch an organization directly contribute to the growth of individuals and an industry. WIT literally transforms the lives of women who participate and volunteer. I am proud of the WIT's efforts and impacts.
Women in Technology (WIT) has been instrumental in empowering women and girls in STEAM. Their programs, from professional development to free student resources, foster growth, inclusion, and confidence. As someone deeply invested in technology and education, I’ve seen firsthand the impact WIT has on shaping future leaders and breaking barriers. Grateful to be part of this inspiring community!
I have been a proud volunteer with Women in Technology (WIT) for the past six years, and it has been one of the most impactful experiences of my career. WIT is more than a nonprofit organization. It’s a community that uplifts and empowers women and girls at every stage of their journey in technology and STEM fields. From my early days as a WIT Campus Leader to becoming a founding member of WIT resource group at my company, this organization has continuously inspired me to align my career with my passion for creating equitable opportunities.
WIT’s programs, from mentorship to professional development events, have shown me the power of collaboration and the importance of giving back. Through volunteering, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with women reentering the workforce and supporting initiatives like the Single Mothers Program, which provides life-changing opportunities for its participants. These experiences have not only reinforced my commitment to driving diversity and inclusion but have also fueled my determination to make a bigger impact in my community.
WIT’s mission is vital, and its work has influenced me personally and professionally, shaping me into a more purpose-driven leader.
For anyone looking to support or be part of an organization that truly changes lives, I cannot recommend WIT enough. It’s a place where passion meets impact, and together, we’re building a brighter future for women in technology. Let's go WIT!
The WIT Program has affected my life in a positive aspect an immaculate amount. I remember my first introduction with this program was through my mom, that participated in the Single Mothers quadrant of the company. She then introduced me into a world of diligent, courageous, and trustworthy people that were in my age group. Which led me to going to multiple WIT Girls Events. This led to me being invited to the WIT Girls Ambassador group, which allows me to plan events and get feedback and ideas from fellow WIT Girls. This entire nonprofit organization is full of people with growth mindsets and such positive outlooks on life. I feel myself growing and changing every event I go to.
As a former WIT Girl now stepping into the role of a WIT YoPro, I can wholeheartedly attest to how my experiences with WIT have shaped my career in computer science. Through WIT Girls' no-cost events, I had the chance to explore my passion for technology and emerging fields through hands-on activities, workshops, and, most importantly, by connecting with incredible women who are pioneers in the industry. I’ve seen firsthand how WIT helps open doors for girls who may not have had the financial resources to explore tech, offering them a chance to discover new possibilities and career paths they might not have considered otherwise.
I have been involved with WIT for over 18 years. It has been extremely beneficial to me during my career. I have been able to network with other senior level women in Technology and share experiences. It has also provided me with the opportunity to give back to other women in the STEM field. The impact this organization has on women at all stages in their journey with STEM is extremely valuable for providing support, growth, and knowledge.
I want to share how much Women in Tech has meant to me during this time in my life. Adjusting to a new country, working remotely, navigating time differences, and starting so much from scratch has been a challenging journey. WIT has been a source of incredible support, helping me feel valued and welcomed in ways that truly matter.
Being part of this community has reminded me of the power of connection and the importance of uplifting one another. The kindness, encouragement, and opportunities I’ve found here have given me not only a sense of belonging but also the confidence to keep moving forward and contributing where I can.
Thank you for creating such an inspiring and empowering space for women. It’s a privilege to be part of something so meaningful.
Women In Technology is a great organization providing numerous programs supporting women in STEAM. It's an honor to volunteer for an organization that has such a positive impact on the community. If you have the opportunity please get involved and learn more about this organization. You will be impressed.

Women In Technology has many great programs to inspire girls and women to engage and be successful in the STEAM field. The programs reach women in different stages in life- from college students to young professionals, and single mothers, but all focus on empowering women to have a voice in STEAM. My time as a volunteer, has been rewarding. Thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, and staff. Their passion is visible in all aspects of this organization.
If you are looking for an amazing and impactful non-profit to get involved in, look no further! I have been involved with Women in Technology (WIT) for several years, and this year I took on a more in-depth volunteer role within the Young Professionals sector. I can confidently say that WIT’s mission to address the under representation of women and girls in STEAM is incredibly important. The organization provides education, exposure, and experiences that help them thrive in their careers and shape them into who they are.
Being part of WIT has been so rewarding. I’ve seen firsthand how their initiatives not only challenge stereotypes but also create a diverse pipeline of talent in the tech industry. It’s been such a gift to be able to contribute my time and talents to this deserving cause, and I’ve met so many incredible women along the way who I know will always been there for each other!
Since discovering WIT, I’ve been moved by the women I’ve met who are passionate about supporting this nonprofit because of the positive difference they’ve made for them. They have truly turned women’s life from poverty to middle class, careers from entry level to the board room through their programs and ongoing support. This inspired me to volunteer with their WIT Girls program.
This volunteer experience supports a data migration effort for WIT's Single Mother's Program. I'm partnering with a few other volunteers to ensure data is accurately transported into a new system before access to data records for over 400 program participants is disabled in a couple weeks. It's exciting to do something I'm skilled at and support a segment of the WIT Community I would typically champion for. WIT really does go the extra mile for these deserving participants.
As a co-founder of Advanced Tech Placement (ATP), along with Maggie (Wiggins) Bray, and a mother of daughters, I am not only committed to fostering the growth of women leaders in the tech industry but also to nurturing meaningful relationships to allow girls to grow and succeed in STEAM. My collaboration with Women in Technology (WIT) has been nothing short of inspiring. WIT’s exceptional organization and dedication to empowering women have made our volunteer experience incredibly rewarding. Over the past few years, I've been involved with WIT Atlanta, participating in the Single Mother’s Program, WIT Allies, and the Women of the Year in STEAM Award galas. The brilliance of WIT lies in their ability to create impactful programs and events that resonate with our core values. I stand firmly behind WIT’s mission and am eager to continue my support, contributing to the advancement of women in technology for many more years to come. WIT is certainly one-of-a-kind and their work is truly inspiring!!!!
I have volunteered with WIT for the last 5-6 years. I love that WIT is helping raise up the next generation of technologists. It’s wonderful to be part of an organization of women supporting women.
As a high school student, WIT helped connect me with so many successful women that became mentors and role models for my success.
I have been associated with Women In Technology as a high school student for the past 4 years. This has been one of my most cherished institutions since it has taught me a lot, both professionally and personally. I have built a strong professional network at WIT, and it has enabled me to get real-world work experience during several job shadow programs, as well as at various events that I have participated in as a Member and as an Ambassador. I highly recommend WIT to any and every high school girl whether or not she is interested in technology, as WIT exposure will open up a new horizon for any impressionable mind, be it a middle schooler, high schooler, or a college student.
I have had the pleasure of being a part of the WIT community for about 5 years now, since my undergraduate days. From simply being a member to leader to scholarship winner within the organization, my experience has been nothing short of amazing. WIT has opened doors for women in the STEAM space in ways that I had no clue existed. Personally, WIT helped launch my career in the Cybersecurity industry straight out of university. If I had not been engaged and met the women/mentors that i did, I would have never come across the opportunity. Mentorship, networking opportunities, professional and academic development provided by WIT completely transformed my transition to the field. This organization truly cares and put in the time, resources, and energy to see women succeed in STEAM fields and they do so on a personal level with individual members. It is an inspirational and life changing experience working with them.
WIT is an inspirational non profit that helps support women of all ages to be successful. I've become very passionate about the organization because of the leaders and women that tirelessly devote their time to building one another up. I highly recommend any women, of any age, in any stage of their career to get involved. If anything other than finding a united community of like-minded folks, it worth a visit.
Women In Technology (WIT) is an organization that has allowed me to find a voice in my community, volunteer of my talents and skills, learn from mentors and establish life- long friendships. Thank you WIT for being EXACTLY what I needed then and Now!
I've been a part of WIT for over 15 years and I've seen the organization evolve and adapt to the variety of needs women in the tech field have as well as needs tech companies have. Women need challenging, high-paying jobs with room for advancement. WIT has created programs from the classroom to the boardroom to train women who can innovate, execute, collaborate, and lead tech initiatives. WIT's Single Mothers Programs is a shining example of how WIT is continually broadening its reach to support women. Single mothers with low-paying or no jobs, who have an aptitude for math/science, receive extensive training including graduating from the program with a certification in Cybersecurity. These graduates are then placed in companies with excellent starting salaries and opportunities to advance within the organizations. Companies benefit by employing women who are passionate about their work, appreciate the opportunity to prove themselves, and are a positive influence on those around them. Way to go WIT for continually pushing the envelope for women!
Women In Technology offers so many opportunities to women looking to jumpstart their career in technology. I’ve been able to network with so many fantastic companies, something very important to me as a soon to be college graduate. I’ve gotten the opportunity to attend WIT Connect and work behind the scenes volunteering and these ladies pour their heart and soul into supporting and empowering women and girls in STEAM. I couldn’t be more proud to be involved in Women In Tech, their commitment to creating impactful change within the community is inspiring! I will continue to support Women In Technology for many years to come!
I am a part of my university's chapter of Women in Technology and have been for almost my entire college career. WIT has given me so many wonderful opportunities to network and meet new people, and I have really loved being a part of the organization.
Participating in Women In Technology has been a transformative experience for me. I've been fortunate to encounter incredible opportunities and events while being part of the WIT community. Not only did WIT offer me a generous scholarship, but it also opened the door to advancing my education and skills through the Career ConneXions Cybersecurity program.
For any women considering a transition into the field of Cybersecurity, I wholeheartedly recommend this course. The guidance and interactions with the instructors and teaching assistants have been invaluable, and I'll carry this experience with me throughout my life.
Furthermore, the uplifting and empowering atmosphere at WIT's social and networking events has been a source of inspiration. This organization has positively impacted the lives of countless women, motivating me to strive for personal growth and to contribute to the betterment of others.
WIT is an excellent organization with a dedicated team and group of volunteers who make a true impact on women in STEAM fields!
I started with WIT in 2017 as a volunteer and WIT's mission resonated with me as fundamentally significant with the programs for women of all ages is truly amazing. I see WIT playing a huge role in turning the dreams into reality by engaging right from the classroom to the boardroom! Notably WIT's Single Mother's Program is profoundly impactful turning their life around with a career in tech. Hope to see WIT to continue their impact on future generations to come!
This organization has been amazing! They have helped me to grow through college and into my professional career. They gave me all the tools I needed to get to where I am today. Between the scholarships and professional development opportunities, WIT has been a big part of my life and I'm so grateful for everything they've done for me.
WIT is an AMAZING organization! They are dedicated to helping women and girls in STEM. From having a single mother's program to help single mothers by teaching them IT courses so they can enter the tech industry, to giving out scholarships to college students in STEM, WIT is awesome. WIT has helped me meet some amazing people and experienced so many opportunities. From mentorship programs, to job shadows, to panel discussions, WIT is absolutely innovative. WIT is a NECESSITY in this society. As someone who has received a scholarship from WIT myself, I can now be at ease and focus fully on my studies. I was once overwhelmed with college expenses and I didn't know what I was going to do, but WIT helped me financially and I am now FLOURiSHING! So thankful for this organization. I will attach photos of the WIT events I have attended.
I am truly grateful for my experience volunteering with Women In Technology. Volunteering with WIT enables me to give back and give a helping hand to the next generation of women to find their passion and gain economic stability. I love that WIT programs are available at every stage of our lives starting with WIT Girls and carrying through to those of us in mid and late career.
WIT is an amazing non-profit who is geared to shaping future women to succeed in STEAM.
The impact the program have on youth in the metro ATL area and women who are choosing to propel in Tech field is astonishing.
Women in Technology has had a profound impact on both my life and the lives of many students. As a leading organization for females in the STEAM field, it prepares us to serve as role models across various sectors, providing empowerment and clear guidance. Without a doubt, WIT is unparalleled in its influence and the invaluable contributions it makes to the community.
My wife and have supported WIT for the last few years as one of our largest donations in the non-profit space. Frankly, I don't even consider it a donation, and instead an "investment". Why do I call it investing? Because it is investing in the future technology leaders that I want to turn the reins over to as I retire in the future. These are women to support and help progress their careers right where they should be at the technology tables of companies all around us. My favorite program being raised by a single mother myself who struggled after my father passed away, is the incredible Single Mothers Program to bring along women who have every reason to not move forward versus continuing their education and growing to move from a job to a career. How about the young women still in school in STEM programs before they decide to drop out for whatever reason of a STEM education, and every single woman in a technical role as they brave their own paths up and forward. I can't speak highly enough of WIT.
I would give this organization NEGATIVE stars if possible.
For a group that purports to support technology, I have to laugh. 1) I am caught in a loop between "your login credentials are not recognized" and (when I then go to reset the password) "your account does not exist" and (when I go to create a new account) "your email is already recognized. click her to reset your password." Thus I cannot login. 2) The customer service is horrendous and will not refund my money despite my sending them a screen capture of this loop.
RUN from this completely disastrous organization which sadly knows nothing of technology and certainly less about customer service.
I have been a member of WIT for about 6 years and a board member for the past 3. I have been so impressed with the expansion of programs to support girls and women in the field of STEAM. They have a great strategy to support women at all levels and to provide programs to help you connect and develop regardless of whether you are still in school, looking for a career change or are a seasoned professional. It is a great group of women helping women make a difference!
I've been a member of WIT for about 5 years, and it has been hands down the best volunteer and membership experiences of my career. I get so much value from the WIT community and as such also enjoy giving back through leadership of the mentor program as well as their WIT Forum program. I've recruited countless friends and colleagues and make it a condition of employment for my company to be a sponsor.
I have volunteered in two programs at WIT, WIT Girls and WIT Single Mother's Program and am also a Board member. I can't say enough about the impact WIT has on young women and women going back into the workforce - I have seen first hand how WIT can change these women's lives. WIT is an amazing organization and is taking women from the classroom to the boardroom.
WIT is an amazing community that supports women and girls in not only STEAM but in life. I am happy to be a part of this organization and all the good they do.
I love the impact that WIT has had on the Georgia market. WIT is there for girls in Middle school all the way to the boardroom. You need to network, WIT is for you. You need a mentor, WIT is for you, You love STEAM, WIT is for you! I can't say how amazing it is to be a part of this organization for the last 6 years.
I absolutely love volunteering for WIT. I found this organization by accident. The company that I was working for had a table for the monthly breakfast and needed people to attend. I agreed to attend as a means to get brownie points with my team lead - she never attended. During this time, I was also at a crossroad in my career - I didn't know what I wanted to do or of I wanted to continue to stay in Technology.
I signed up to assist with WIT Girls Job Shadow and that experience helped me to understand that while I was questioning my path, I wanted to help support the next generation of women interested in Technology.
WIT has so many amazing programs that help and support women and girls. Starting with WIT Girls to WIT Campus to YoPros to WIT Career Connection and the AMAZING program to train single mothers in cyber security. As a single mother, I can attest that working in IT can change the financial status of a family being led by a woman. Which can definitely have positive effects on the next generation. I will continue to use my time and talents in working to further the mission of WIT.
I joined WIT around 4 years ago as a member and was amazed by how organized this org is!! I was able to be part of both, WIT campus and WIT yoPros, before volunteering with yoPros.
Being with WIT has greatly impacted my career.. It has provided me with so many opportunities to network with women who I could relate to, and others who i was inspired by and looked up to. In addition to that, some of the events i attended helped me immensely by working on my resume and interview skills, and developing technical ones. All of that has helped drive my career in the right direction.
Being able to experience WIT from both, the member, and the volunteer sides, assured me that WIT remains committed to their mission of inspiring and supporting women. For that, I remain committed to supporting WIT.
WIT is an incredible community and I am so proud to be a part of it. WIT gives volunteers the opportunity to turn their passion into action, and I am so happy to support the middle and high school girls that the WIT Girls serves!
I've been a volunteer with Women in Technology for over ten years in various capacities, mostly with the WIT Girls Program. During this time, I have been able to empower women and girls in STEAM. Additionally, my leadership skills have grown tremendously which helps me to be a better leader and team member at work and the community. Being apart of WIT means having a large support system in all that I do and I am proud to be apart of a phenomenal organization.
Serving with WIT has been rewarding. It’s rewarding to work alongside other female leaders and allies who are committed to changing the lives of women and girls by helping them advance in STEAM education and careers. As a WIT Campus volunteer, it is heartwarming to witness the impact being made in the college students’ lives. Studies have shown the barriers women face while trying to enter into and advance in STEAM careers. Despite a number of stats showing the benefits of women working in STEAM careers, the barriers still persist. WIT develops and implements programs to help women and girls overcome these barriers to entry and provides support systems to help them advance. I look forward to continuing to serve with WIT to empower women and girls to excel in STEAM from the classroom to the boardroom.
I have been involved with this organization for over 20 years. From a board member to President to an Advisory Member. This organization has truly implemented programs from the classroom to the boardroom. Being a minority in the field of technology, it is great to be part of an organization that helps all women at all levels. From introducing STEAM to little girls to learning experiences through college, more females are learning the art of the possible. WIT has taken on more programs to ensure not one female is left behind. It has been an honor to see the number of girls and women impacted by all of what WIT has offered to the community. This is an A+ organization and utilizes every dollar to maximize the outcomes in STEAM.
Serving the WIT community for the past 15+ years continue to be a highlight in my life. With programming like the Single Mothers Program, Career Connexions, and WIT Girls, we are not only changing lives but we are working to close the skills gap that exists in the STEAM field. Our WIT Awards and WIT Connect events shine the light on exceptional women in STEAM and recognize their accomplishments in the field, as well as give networking and volunteer opportunities to so many in our technology community in Atlanta (and beyond).
I’m looking forward to more amazing years ahead and impacting many more lives together!
I had the good fortune to be introduced to a WIT board member when I moved to Atlanta in 2015. As a new member of the community, I was seeking an opportunity to become ingrained in the fabric of the city and to be involved with an organization that lifted others up.
It has been the greatest honor to be a part of WIT and to see the impact that one amazing organization - powered by passionate people who want to make others' lives better - can have on the world around them.
Through WIT's Single Mothers Program, the trajectory of so many women's lives have been changed for the better. Through the WIT Girls program, young women are supported and celebrated for who they can be. Through WIT's uplifting events, the WIT community remains connected and inspired.
As a career professional who works in STEAM and the mother of 3 young children, I continue to see how many hurdles young girls and women face in the STEAM fields. But the tide is turning, not in small part from the tireless work of the WIT team and WIT volunteers with the common vision of empowering all girls and women to excel in STEAM - from the classroom to the boardroom.
I had the privilege to be involved with WIT since relocating to Atlanta in the last 2.5 years. Of the similar women in STEAM organizations I have been part of, WIT is most focused in mission. Its programs are designed to be impactful and have changed the lives of countless girls and women.
I have been fortunate to volunteer with Women in Technology Inc for 6 years. During that time, I have seen the difference it has made in the lives of countless women and girls who are studying and working in STEAM fields. When I think about where I want to invest my time and money, WIT is always at the top of that list!

I have been involved with WIT for about 6 years and I continue to be amazed by the impact that the organization has not only on the girls and women who are involved in the programs, but also on the volunteers who support the WIT mission! The great news is that I believe that the best is yet to come. If you are not involved in WIT, what are you waiting for? :-)
WIT is an organization that supports girls and women from the classroom to the boardroom. It's all about women supporting women. WIT is intentional about changing lives by focusing women on the possibilities of a career in science, technology, engineering, arts/music or math. The Single Mothers' and Career ConneXion Programs are focused on getting non-traditional resources into the workforce with life changing careers. Helping underserved single mothers, women who need to get back in the workforce, or women who want to change careers - WIT is the nonprofit organization to be involved with.
My name is Andrianna Hamwright, I found out about an organization called, Women In Technology(WIT) while visiting a food pantry. Specifically I happen to be told that there was an application process that was near to end that was accepting a Single Mother, living in Ga and suffering economically and living in the outskirts of poverty or below. Interested in STEAM and wanting to make the decision that your life is going to change NOW. I came to the food pantry with a basket empty and left plentiful. I didn't know a cold fall night would be the start of my life being saved. Not only did WIT provide me an education, but to be able to say I am the first to graduate from College in my family at Emory University. WIT not only provides free education, but enrolls you in etiquette, financial, wellness, fitness, nutrition, life preparation, motivation and stability mentee classes. With the world pandemic hitting me the hardest than ever before, being a member of WIT and being in the Single Mothers program allowed me to recover all that I had lost. I now have a full time position, a Software Engineer with a high end retailer, working in the technology department, with four other WIT gradates at Macys.
I want whomever reads this review, to be someone who has given up on life as a single mother, has experience much worries, has cried many days of not knowing what to do, lost all of confidence of reaching out of troubles, wanting to prove to yourself that it's not to late to finish school! Reach out to the website. I now have a full time position and can take care of my 12 year old daughter without any type of assistance, lack or fear of getting a possession taken from me. (because of lack of payment)
I also want another form of readers to really understand this, without the help of the community of WIT, I would not be a full time Software Engineer and being apart of a winning group of women. All assistance is provided from healthy hearts in the non profit community. So yes, donations are accepted daily! WIT not only has a program dedicated for Single Mothers, but there are monthly forums, discussions, IT/IS classes and events aimed to empower both men and women in IT. WIT also has a program destined for scholarships for Middle and High schoolers, young professionals(Yopros), WIT campus, Board Membership and MBA preparations, Executive and WIT careers.
I couldn’t even begin to describe how much this organization means to me and how my life changed within a less than a year. I went from unemployed and unhappy to having an amazing new career thanks to the single mothers program. I have involved in my personal and professional life. My job is truly a blessing and because of the program I connected to so many people and organizations to continue my growth. Me and my daughter couldn’t have found out about the single’s mother program at the right time.
I joined WIT one year ago and have been very grateful for the introduction to this amazing community. Not only does WIT provide great learning opportunities through their mentor network, events and programs, but they provide leadership opportunities. As a volunteer program leader, I am gaining leadership, delegation, communication, and time management skills that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn in my career as a young professional for quite some time. Thank you WIT for believing in me and constantly providing opportunities for women in STEAM!
Although I have been a volunteering with Women In Technology for only 8 months, I feel like it has been longer because of the inclusive and friendly environment. Following the volunteer orientation I thought, "Wow, what a great organization that is doing great things for girls and women in the community!" I still have that same thought eight months later....
I was immediately provided opportunities to lead, inspire and support other women in programs/events such as: WIT Single Mothers Program, WIT Campus and WIT Connect to name a few. Also, during the planning meetings for these programs and event I had the pleasure to meet and interact with amazing women that were either WIT staff or a WIT volunteer.
This organization is truly a gem in the Atlanta region that provides genuine support and great opportunities for girls and women throughout their journey in life. Volunteers are given a platform to fulfill their purpose while supporting the mission of the organization.
This organization truly embodies the mission to empower women and prepare them for the future workforce. It's amazing to witness the exceptional support by the community of Fortune 500 corporations and the wealth of resources for students and career women.
I just found out about WIT Inc this year through some of my classmates and I can say that it's been a great experience so far. I've volunteered for some of their events and committees and I look forward to working with them even more in the future.
Being a woman in the technology field has been a very long road. I've often felt like I wasn't represented, heard, or taken seriously. In the last few years, I have met some incredible women through WIT events that have not only shown me I'm not alone but able to network and grow with other women in my field. I've become so passionate about what WIT does advancing women in technology fields via their events and offerings, that I became a volunteer. I love being able to contribute to this organization and positively impact other women trying to make their way through navigating additional training or advancing their careers.
WIT Atlanta is a wonderful nonprofit that promotes education for young women through the WITCampus programs. The Atlanta Chapter and sponsors make it so easy for students to participate for students at a small college in NE Georgia. The charter vans that transport students, the wonderful access to working women specific to the student's career goals. Events allow students virtual and face to face mentoring from professional women they can aspire to follow.
This has got to be the best organization to join. The organization gives young professionals so many opportunities for example, internship, career workshops, and other career growth opportunities. WIT is very diverse and they make you feel like you are apart of the family. I always recommend WIT to all my colleagues even young professionals I work with in the STEM field. WIT is amazing!
Amazing programs - amazing women. Love being involved with this organization. I think their work is so important.
Women in Technology has been an amazing nonprofit that truly highlight and showcase the achievements of women in the STEM fields. However, they also empower young girls to reach the stars within STEM from mentorships, events, workshops etc. Going above and beyond to push the presence and encouragement of STEM careers for women today.
I've been selling software for 25 years. I often joked that I was the token female in the room - like the Alice character in Dilbert - but it was really a sad truth. Often still true today. Joining Women in Technology has introduced me to so many amazing technology professionals - women I can admire, women who I can joke with, women who understand the struggle of balancing work and family. Thank you WIT for a community!
I'm so grateful to have been apart of the WIT organization. I started as a WIT GIRL in 2013 when I was only 10 years old. This program gave me a inside look at the world of Women in STEAM while attending WIT Behind the Scenes, Job Shadowing and Career Immersions events. I am honored to have been a WIT GIRL of the Year Finalist and WIT Girl Scholarship Winner. Now I am a member of WIT Campus where I have received mentorship, guidance on business leadership and networking. I aim to become a Mechatronics Engineer and know I will remain a member of WIT as a member and volunteer to help young girls find their STEAM dreams.
In early 2018, I had the opportunity to step in as the (volunteer) Senior Director of the WIT Campus Program. The WIT Campus Program consists of student-led clubs at various colleges and universities in Georgia. The clubs are made up of students who have a focus on any area of STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics). The students have the opportunity to connect with one another both inside and outside of their school, compete for scholarships, attend events put on by Fortune 500 companies, and expand their overall network. I've had the pleasure of getting to know hundreds of young women who benefit from this program. It's so wonderful to see them grow in ways they never expected. On top of this program, I'm an active WIT member who has been lucky enough to make lasting friendships/relationships through the vast network of female STEAM professionals. It's an amazing organization...and a community of true sisterhood.
I remember being slightly nervous and a little lost as I walked into my first WIT event. I didn't know anyone there, and I only had a vague idea that this organization seemed like something I might be interested in.
Some background: growing up in Iraq, I was fascinated by computers and dreamt of one day becoming a software engineer. But where I'm from, those aren't the dreams you're allowed to have as a young girl. Even after moving to the States in high school, that feeling of being alone from years of being told I couldn't pursue my dreams stuck with me.
So fast forward to the WIT event. Those old fears gave way to excitement as I was welcomed and began to feel at home. It was there that I met my mentor, an amazing woman who supported my dreams and inspired me to become a stronger leader as I myself took on the role of mentoring 3 amazing campus students. And that's what WIT has been for me--a home where I found unprecedented belonging, unlimited support, and the greatest gift of all: being able to share that with others. The sense of empowerment from connecting and networking with female leaders across this field cannot be overstated.
With WIT, I've now finished 2 internships with great companies and people who I still keep in touch with. I'm now the project manager for YoPros, a group dedicated to helping recently graduated females. And just recently I was awarded a scholarship that was crucially helpful towards the completion of my Software Development degree. I'm now more passionate about my chosen path than I ever have been- thanks to WIT.
I love this organization for the impact it's made on my life and countless other females. Let's all continue to take part in and support this amazing movement.
Through WIT I have made lasting friendships and meaningful professional connections. I have found value in every event, both as a volunteer and a participant.
As a girl growing up, I didn’t have an organization like Women in Technology to encourage me to stay interested in technical subjects, so I didn’t stay interested because I thought I wasn’t smart enough. Throughout college, I didn’t have an organization like Women in Technology providing opportunities to explore STEAM careers, so I didn’t go for a technical major. As a young professional, I didn’t have an organization like Women in Technology to expand my professional network and connect me with mentors.
Luckily, I eventually found and joined the movement created by Women in Technology.
As a direct result of Women in Technology, I have a job in the tech space that I am passionate about, a mentor whom I love, and an incredible calendar of social and educational events that continue to push me forward both personally and professionally.
I love Women in Technology!
