Mission: Women in Community Service’s mission is to reduce the number of women and youth living in poverty by promoting self-reliance and economic independence. Since 1964, WICS has served more than 2 million low-income women and youth nationwide. Through the development of powerful and innovative programming, WICS provides disadvantaged women and youth with the training, resources and inspiration necessary to transition from poverty to self-sufficiency and build successful, healthy lives. Over the past 40 years, WICS has evolved into a dynamic organization providing lifeskills development programming for low-income women, youth and families in various forms of transition: welfare to work, incarceration back into the community, public housing to homeownership; substance abuse, homelessness, and young people transitioning to successful employment and independence.
