Mission: The mission of women impacting storebrand excellence (wise) is to promote growth in the storebrand retail industry as a champion for diversity in leadership.
Programs: Wise 2017 accomplishmentsfor the fifth year of the organization, the theme of growing through diversity the leadership team and volunteers expanded benefits to our partners and members, as evidenced by the increased frequency of activities and programs as well as member growth compared to the previous year. Our program accomplishments in 2017 included:in total eight webinars were conducted, which attracted a total of more than 500 attendees:four professional development webinars:1. January: the five types of employees2. May: creating a kindness culture in the workplace3. October: thinking through change4. December: coaching vs. Mentoringtied into the strengthfinders book given to all attendees at the 2016 annual meeting were four strengthsfinder webinars which were enthusiastically attended, on average, by 100 wise members. This member only benefit rewarded those who attended all four events with an entry into a drawing whereby a one-year subscription to amazon prime was awarded. In person events included:1. In quarters one, two and three, in conjunction with wise board meetings, nights of dynamic networking were held in four cities across the country: chicago (oak brook), il, bentonville, ar, and minneapolis, mn. The evenings provided productive professional networking opportunities which is a primary goal of wise along with professional development opportunities as provided by thought provoking speakers. More than 160 wise members and colleagues gathered to expand their network and exchange ideas with local industry professionals. Sponsors of the events were treehouse foods, seneca foods, simmons pet foods, dakota growers, e. Formella and sons, and mizkan. 2. New in 2017 was sponsorship of a speaker at the inaugural velocity conference. Wise was prominently promoted by the conference host and by the sponsored speaker. 3. November 12: in partnership with store brands magazine, under top women in store brands program, the wise annual meeting honored 9 ladies. The event featured two speakers: suzanne allford wade, president san antonio food/drug division for heb, who shared her fascinating career journey of 45 years in retailing and global leadership. Speaker fawn germer, who inspired the 342 attendees to discover the positive moments in our lives. Fawns message, how can you create balance in your life, is based on her best-selling book, "work life reset" which every attendee received as a gift. Fawns speaking fee and the book expense was underwritten by three wise partners. Through the rfp process a new design agency was selected and employed fall 2017 "wise world" newsletter published monthly. Trade show participation and/or attendance included conference at saint josephs university, the federated group show, fmi store brands conference and the plma.
