Mission: Our primary exempt purpose is to promote and provide a comprehensive response to domestic violence,stalking and human trafficking through community outreach & education,prevention, intervention, client support services, and safety and shelter services.
Programs: Womanhaven operates two emergency shelters on a 24-hour basis with 24 beds to provide safe and confidential shelter for adults and child victims of domestic violence. During our fiscal year, womanhaven's safehouse provided 6,833 bed nights of safe shelter to 120 adults and 165 children. The safehouse expanded in 2007 with the addition of seven units of transitional housing capable of housing up to seven victims who graduate from the safehouse program but still require safe and confidential housing. In the fall of 2016, womanhaven received a caloes transitional housing grant, which funds our 8 unit apartment complex for emergency transitional housing.
womanhaven provides crisis intervention, therapeutic counseling, advocacy, and supportive services to domestic violence victims through its 24-hour support and information line and counseling programs. 2,141 domestic violence victims received counseling and advocates and counselors provided 11,448 referrals to existing services in the community to clients during fiscal year ending 6/30/2017. The center assisted 857 clients with temporary restraining orders. Last year we answered approximately 1,187 crisis calls.
anger management-assist clients and spouses in addressing anger management issues. We provided anger management classes and provide counseling for anger management. We assisted approximately 216 clients last year.
community education services: womanhaven works with youth to provided a range of educational programs designed to challenge attitudes of gender, masculinity/femininity, and to help youth understand healthy relationships and indicators of abusive relationships. During our fiscal year womanhaven impacted more than 229 youth through 3 presentations and community outreach. Domestic violence-womanhaven builds awareness through community outreach, presentations, and proactive media engagement to inform the community of the impact of domestic violence. During our fiscal year, womanhaven reached more than 5,757 adults through 242 educational presentations and 15 community awareness activities.
