Mission: The witte museum promotes life long learning through exhibitions, programs, and collections in natural history, science, and south texas heritage.
Programs: Public programs at the witte museum included 789 events. These events included science, natural history, history and outreach programs. Approximately 71,056 children and adults attended these programs. The public programs include gallery theater, student workshops, demonstrations and presentations.
in the fiscal year 2016/2017, approximately 460,000 people visited the museum for exhibitions, programs, and special events, of which 132,000 were children and 90,000 visited free of charge during weekly free tuesday hours. (see schedule o for additional information)
the witte museum store offers a variety of books, educational toys, and limited-time-only special products related to the exhibits and public programming. These items provide take-away experiences that reinforce lifelong learning. Proceeds from the museum store support public programs of the museum.
