Wish Upon a Wedding

Programs: Wish upon a wedding granted 16 weddings and/or vow renewal wishes during 2017. Each wedding was planned and run by 3-24 volunteers, called wish granters, donating their goods and services to create a special day for the couple. Wish granters included wedding planners, photographers, videographers, florists, hair dressers, makeup artists, caterers, venue managers, cake bakers, invitation designers, djs, transportation providers, lighting specialists, gown and tuxedo providers, linen providers, and more. In total, 217 wish granters donated goods and services (valued at approximately $494,481) to make these weddings happen during the year. Management of the wedding wish granting process is handled by the board and program directors of 3 chapters across the united states. Details on each wedding wish are as follows:1. Tanisha and tony were married on february 26, 2017 at top of the town in arlington, va. The groom tony suffers from kidney cancer. A total of 24 volunteer wish granters worked on this wish, putting in 239 volunteer granter hours, with a total donation of $42,772. 37. 2. Craig and denna were married on february 26, 2017 at the black swan in milwaukee, wi. The groom craig suffers from esophageal and stomach cancer. A total of 14 volunteer wish granters worked on this wish, putting in 121 volunteer granter hours, with a total donation of $39,884. 31. 3. Michael and tonica were married on april 1, 2017 at grace meadow farms in jonesborough, tn. The groom michael suffers from stage iv lung cancer. A total of 12 volunteer wish granters worked on this wish, putting in 73 volunteer granter hours, with a total donation of $11,166. 4. Amber and richard were married on april 11, 2017 at bali hai golf club in las vegas, nv. The bride amber suffers from carcinoid tumor syndrome. A total of 9 volunteer wish granters worked on this wish, putting in 76 volunteer granter hours, with a total donation of $22,165. 5. Lindsay and robby were married on april 14, 2017 at daniel stowe botanical garden in charlotte, nc. The groom robby suffers from renal failure. A total of 15 volunteer wish granters worked on this wish, putting in 306 volunteer granter hours, with a total donation of $26,741. 10. 6. Heidi and josh were scheduled to get married on april 23, 2017 at the new england aquarium in boston, ma. Due to heidi's continually failing health the couple chose not to move forward with the wedding.
