Programs: The wisconsin taxpayers alliance researches state and local government finances and policy making and shares its nonpartisan findings with citizens, the press, school groups, public officials, and community leaders. In 2017, the wisconsin taxpayers alliance published and disseminated 11 issues of the wisconsin taxpayer and 26 issues of the focus newsletter to over 3,000 subscribers and media outlets; as well as our annual publications schoolfacts and municipalfacts. The wisconsin taxpayers alliance manages a website that offers an online library, links to social media, a blog, and videos. The website receives an average of 1,566 visits per month and people can download our research, much of it for free. The wisconsin taxpayers alliance gave 42 speeches to 2,173 members of civic, business, and professional groups. The wisconsin taxpayers alliance received 264 media contacts for interviews and information requests. Media requests resulted in 1,187 newspaper articles and 75 broadcast interviews and live video appearances. The wisconsin taxpayers alliance also routinely took calls from local and state officials requesting advice and information. The wisconsin taxpayers alliance provided at low cost 1,292 civic textbooks to schools, teachers, and the public. This textbook, used by middle, high school, and college social studies and civics classes, is the only book that provides specific information on state and local government in wisconsin. It complies with state educational standards and helps schools meet the statutory requirement to provide wisconsin-focused civics education.
