Founder Yvonne Patterson (now Burbach) began in 1969 with a wild-caught cockatoo whom she still has (2021) named Snowball. As a teenager she gave monies to organizations to help save wildlife but said it didn't 'fulfill her'. Her prayers were answered after college when as a horticulturist with 3 birds working on 5 acres where she grew flowers. The public was intrigued with the birds' beauty & intelligence.
She opened up a bird exhibit called Wings of Love and began trekking through rainforests, taking pictures and sharing experiences. She became internationally published! When the business sold she moved the birds to her home and began training to do shows for schools, churches & retirement homes. During these years she rescued 200+ exotic birds, rehabilitated them to become better 'pet' birds - sometimes taking 11 years - and placed them in loving environments.
This lady has followed her passion and shared her dream with thousands of children and adults.
