I have been volunteering with Wings for Success for a little over a year and have been involved in fundraising and as a member of the Board. I am continually struck by the dedication and love that our volunteers and staff exhibit as they work towards helping women in our community become more self assured, confident and better prepared for the workplace. The entire Wings family is focused on helping to improve the lives of those we serve.
I had an amazing experience from the time I picked up the phone to the time I left.
Everyone was very kind, patient, respectful, and just seemed to really care.
They made sure you left getting a variety of things that looked good on you from braws to shoes and everything in between.
Everyone was great. So glad I found this place when I did. I can’t believe a place like this exits. I have never had an experience like this.
I am thankful, grateful, and appreciative to all who are part of this incredible business. You won’t regret going here.
Wings for Success sure knows how to effectively engage volunteers. What a pleasure spending time helping other women in our community.
I have had the privilege of volunteering with this organization for the past 10 years both in leadership roles and as a volunteer dresser. The work we do is nothing short of transformative for the women we help. The “Wings for Success effect “can be seen each day at our sites. Often times when first walking through our doors, women are downtrodden, overwhelmed, and struggling. After spending an hour of one-on-one time with our trained volunteers a remarkable transformation takes place. By helping women to project a professional image, Wings for Success empowers our clients to feel confident during job interviews, succeed in the workplace, and become financially self-sufficient. We strive for our clients to not only leave with new clothes and skills, but also – most importantly – the confidence to say "Yes, I can do it!"
I started volunteering with Wings for Success about three years ago. I was drawn to their mission and impressed by the volunteer energy and resources that keep the agency running. Wings offers free programs to women in need to provide work-related apparel as well as employment related workshops and personalized guidance to help build the confidence needed to obtain and sustain employment. I am truly amazed by the impact the agency has on the lives of clients we serve--over 11,000 since the agency was founded 20 yeas ago. I am also impressed that the programs and services are coordinated by just three part-time employees and a team of over 120 volunteers who help in all areas of operations from working as personal clothing stylists, to helping with clothing and closet maintenance, office support, and client transportation and coordinating fund-raising, community outreach and communications support. This volunteer involvement and dedication is truly a testament to what a community can do by working together to help one another.
I have been involved with Wings for Success for about two years. . One of the things that impresses me most about Wings for Success is that this is an almost entirely volunteer-run organization. With only two part-time employees at two locations, the agency provides services to hundreds of clients each year with support from a team of approximately 120 volunteers who donate over 9,000 hours of their time and talents. This a community-based organization with volunteers supporting everything from consulting with clients on wardrobe to planning fund-raising events, general management and committee work to day to day operations. It feels good to volunteer with an organization that truly puts its resources to helping women who are looking for financial stability and self-sufficiency and is making such a difference in the community. Every client I speak with, tells what a difference Wings has made in their lives.
What an amazing organization! I've been with Wings for over 5 years and believe in the power of the work that is done here. The dedicated volunteers are amazing examples of those who wish to better the lives of others and the communities in which they live. I have also been impressed by the success stories and have been inspired not just by the volunteers but by the women who have been able to improve their lives with just a little push in the right direction.
I've been a volunteer with Wings for Success for 3 years. I started as a career coach for Wings clients in one-on-one job seeker advice sessions. Wings for Success provides apparel and advice for women in need to pursue gainful employment. After the initial dress-for-success session, Wings helps to ensure that the client has the confidence and plans that lead to financial independence. This furthers her sense of self-worth and self-identity that is so important in today's job market. Wings has a set of employment-related, personalized workshops and one on one sessions that assist women as they navigate the process of getting and keeping employment.
This organization is making a major contribution to our community. A kind caring staff who wants to make a true difference in women's lives. We do more than just provide needed outfits for employment, we also help build self-esteem and confidence in each women who enters our door.
Wings for Success is a power house when it comes to the service it provides to women who need a helping hand. Wings helps women by providing appropriate work wear, building confidence, sharing information via workshops and Job Seeker Clinics.
I continue to be inspired by the Wings staff and volunteers including the Board members. I have been a part of the Wings organization as a volunteer and/or Board member for 10+ years. It is an honor to be a part of this team.
I am a volunteer for Wings for Success and work on several committees. The work that is being accomplished by everyone in the organization; both employees (2) and volunteers (120+) is so worthwhile and appreciated by all the clients that are serviced by Wings. Founded in 1997 Wings has helped over 10,000 women obtain clothing, advice and job skills needed to become economically self-sufficient.Wings is the only organization of its kind in Chester County. While other clothing closets do exist, Wings is unique because volunteers spend over an hour with each client, ensuring items fit perfectly and educating on mix and match clothing to stretch limited resources. I am honored to be a part of this TEAM!
I feel so blessed to have learned about and volunteered for Wings for Success. The work done by the volunteers and staff is truly transformative for the people we serve. Our clients are folks from all kinds of backgrounds whose circumstances has brought them to a low place in their lives. Seeming them when they come in - weighed down, struggling, often embarrassed - is heartbreaking. Many of our clients are single moms trying to support their families under difficult circumstances. Our volunteers treat these ladies with utmost respect making each woman feel as special as they are. When they see themselves in their new work attire, you can see their view of themselves change as easily as you can see the tears in their eyes. Wings doesn't just provide much needed clothing, it provides hope, self-confidence, and a chance for a better future. Wings has only two paid staff members and is otherwise volunteer-run which speaks to the strength of belief out community holds in the organization's work. I am honored to be a part of this organization the mission we serve.
I have volunteered at Wings for Success for 5 years and I continue to be impressed with the dedication and support given by all those associated with this non-profit organization. I started as a Stylist and I am now involved in fundraising. It has been a pleasure working with the wonderful women who maintain the inspirational spirit and passion to help women achieve financial security, self esteem and self sufficiency in the community.
I have been a volunteer in several capacities with Wings for about 10 years. What an amazing organization. We serve women in the community by supplying much needed work-appropriate apparel for interviews and subsequent employment as well as hold workshops lead by professionals to help with interviewing and other essential skills for employment of all types. The women that come to us often have had life-changing experiences and leave their personal styling appointment with confidence and a positive outlook.
What I find most impressive is that all that is done, is done well and with only 2 part-time employees and thousands of volunteer hours each year. What an amazing community of women and men that come together from different experiences and backgrounds to lift up our neighbors.
Other notable facts are:
What is donated to Wings financially or in-kind, stays here to help the women in our own community.
Women come to us through referring agencies and from having heard about us in the community.
The apparel we provide is work-appropriate, not only professional attire, but scrubs, black and khaki pants that are often part of a uniform, boots for agricultural jobs and more.
Wings has served over 10,000 women since 1997.
I have been volunteering for WFS for about 17 years now. I have seen this organization grow in leaps and bounds, in every way. The leadership has reached out to many different referral partners empowering those in need offering advice, advocacy and apparel throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware and has brought in over 10,000 clients in need. That's where I come in, as one of my jobs volunteering consists of being a stylist for these women and having the priveledge of boosting their confidence and making them look better than they could even imagine. It warms my heart seeing them walk out the door with bags in tow and a skip in their step knowing they will walk into that interview looking fabulous and feeling special. Every Tuesday Is honestly one of my favorite days. I am truly grateful for Wings for Success and the women I work with throughout the organization!
We are a proud supporter of Wings for Success and their programs that help women in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
I took an intern to Wings for Success to help her understand how she can present herself in a more professional manner. I was quite nervous about how it would go because I didn't want her to be offended and feel like she wasn't capable of this herself. However, as I sat in the lobby and watched others emerge from their appointment, my anxiety lessened with each customer. They were all smiles and standing tall and proud. On our drive back to the office, our intern was so excited and has come to work each day with confidence and professionally dressed. The volunteers at Wings for Success did a great job of teaching without patronizing. Thank you!
Wings For Success has empowered our clients at Friends Association for the Care and Protection of Children to feel confident and comfortable when they enter the workplace. We see women who are uncertain how to differentiate between casual, workplace and evening attire. The staff at Wings for Success have worked with clients with difficult conversation on what is appropriate while also letting them keep their dignity and identity.
The ladies at Wings For Success are truly wonderful!!!! The one-on-one attention that each client gets made me feel like a princess for the time I spent there. Mary Pat (the lady who helped me) took the time to ask me my favorite colors and what type of clothes I was looking for (job interview etc.) Then as I tried the clothes on that she selected for me ,she gave me her honest opinion on what looked right on me and what didnt.Thank you Mary Pat for making me feel special!!!!!!
