I question the owner of windmill feed store's sincerity. Has she built the reputation of, and is she using windmill animal rescue as a way to manufacture a tax write off of donating space to the windmillanimal rescue non profit, to disguise poor business income as cover for avoiding taxes on other income derived from a large trust? Will Windmill Animal Rescue cease to exist if Windmill Feed declares bankruptcy or otherwise ceases to continue operation? Where are the financial statements of Windmill Animal Rescue, or the list of board members and minutes of meetings? Something smells rotten in Denmark, and before i volunteer or donate, I'd like some clarity.

I happened to come across Windmill Animal Rescue while I was doing a search on PetFinder. The shelter turned out to be nothing like I have ever seen. The shelter is considered a "cage free" shelter for all intensive purposes. I walked into an environment full of Cats and other animals, though the cats were the only animals roaming the facility it was a wonderful way to get to know the animals before you considered trying to adopt or sponsor them. Then, as I met some of the employees of Windmill, I was surprised further by their willingness to help find the right pet for you. They have so much experience with these animals that they are familiar with tendencies, likes and dislikes, and behavior patterns. I was able to get a formal introduction by name to each cat and a description of it they were child friendly, cat friendly, or dog friendly. The experience completely changed my perceptions on a how a shelter should be and their adoption process does wonders to eliminate rush purchases or "presents" of pets.
