I've been a volunteer of Wheels for Wellness since it began transportation services to needy folks in Winchester, Frederick and Clarke Counties and surrounding areas. I've served on the board continuously since 2004 and was chairman for many years. I'm now vice-chairman and also a driver.
Wheels for Wellness is the only non-profit that provides free transportation to medical appointments and treatments such as dialysis and chemotherapy. Our clients repeatedly tell us how they would not get the care they need if it wasn't for our program. We are finding it harder and harder to fund our program with so many of our donors now needing to cut back their grant amounts.
