William Penn House is a unique place, with an abundance of warmth, kindness and wisdom. The accommodations are basic but comfortable and welcoming, and the staff are kindhearted and helpful. Its mission is important to the Capitol and to the country, and its focus has become clearer and stronger in recent years. This is a great organization that enriches and is enriched by all the many communities it serves.
I serve on the Penn House Board because I think it is an incredible Quaker witness in our nation's capital. Friendly and affordability hospitality is offered travelers, and a range of programs are conducted that serve to put Quaker testimonies of simplicity, integrity and peace into practice. For the neighborhood, the front garden is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of Capitol Hill.
