Mission: To conserve maine's native plant species by ethically collecting seeds of trees, shrubs, wildflowers, ferns and grasses, and to promote species' conservation by marketing these seeds through a nonprofit organization dedicated to habitat restoration, native plant gardening and community education.
Programs: Magazine: wild seed project successfully produced and sold a publication called wild seed, the purpose of which is to educate people on the importance of native plants in the maine landscape. As evidenced by sales and distribution, approximately 1,800 people were educated via the magazine.
seed sales: wild seed project hand-collected and sold approximately 3,968 packages of seed to promote propagation of native plants in maine. As evidenced by sales and volunteer support, many people benefitted from education and planting of native seeds.
community events in 2017: over 50 walks, talks, workshops and events benefiting several thousand individuals by educating them on the importance of native plants in the landscape and teaching them how to plant native species and to identify and sow native seeds.
