Mission: The mission of the Wild Salmon Center is to protect the healthiest and most productive wild salmon, steelhead, and trout ecosystems across the North Pacific.
Results: Since 1992, Wild Salmon Center and its partners have protected 3 million acres of habitat and prioritized 71 rivers for the management of wild fish.
Target demographics: WSC works to proactively safeguard river systems that are still healthy and productive – “strongholds” for wild salmon – as well as the jobs, communities, and other wildlife that rely on intact habitat and abundant fish.
Geographic areas served: Coastal watersheds across the entire range of wild Pacific salmon: from the Russian Far East to Alaska to western Oregon.
Programs: WSC's conservation efforts include proactively defending key rivers from ill-advised development like mining, dams, and clear-cut logging; prioritizing the protection and management of wild fish; conducting collaborative research to help inform decision-making; and supporting on-the-ground partners in the stewardship of their local rivers.
