Mission: Wild Fish Conservancy seeks to improve conditions for all of the Northwest’s wild fish by conducting important research on wild-fish populations and habitats; advocating for better land-use, harvest, and hatchery management; and developing model restoration projects. We are dedicated solely to the needs of wild fish, and don’t represent the interests of any specific user groups.
Results: Since 1989 Wild Fish Conservancy has: ∙ Corrected the misidentification of thousands of fish bearing streams throughout Washington, qualifying those waters for the legal protections they deserve. ∙ Conducted important field research on the status and recovery needs of wild fish populations. ∙ Designed and implemented cutting edge habitat restoration projects. ∙ Fought back increases in allowable harvest of declining wild fish populations ∙ Advocated for acceptable hatchery management practices. ∙ Strengthened land use and water quality regulations. ∙ Provided opportunities for individuals and communities to get meaningfully involved in salmon recovery and environmental protection.
Programs: Wild fish preservation and restoration through habitat restoration and assessments and education.
